THE ANSWERS
1/ How do I read about what’s going on and the new entries?
“Updates Blog” button in the green box at the top. It's a blog-like section that chronicles everything that's new and improved on the site.

2/
How do I check the new and modified entries straight away?“Updates List” button in the green box at the top. It reflects the changes in real time.

3/
How do I print out an entry? The entries gain printer-friendly links as they are modernised - a link to the printer-friendly display in the game stats section(s), and at the very end of the entry a link to the printer-friendly display for the whole.
Entries that have not yet been modernised lack these links and the underlying code.
From our tests, the best results with non-modernised entries come from opening the URL of the entry you want to print via printwhatyoulike.com/ and selecting what you need (or just hitting “auto format”).

4/
How do I check out a random pack of entries?“Random Entries” button in the green box at the top.

5/
How do I search for specific entries? The search engine is in the upper right corner of each page. It is a full-featured Open Search Server™ engine for the site, much like Google™ for the web. Searches focus on the titles of the entries, but they also cover the texts in the entries themselves. Thus, if you search for “Batwoman” it will return entries with “Batwoman” in the title then follow up with entries where “Batwoman” is mentioned.
As with most search engines, you can use quote marks to narrow down a search. For instance if you search for white wolf without quotes, the search engine will look for entries that use the word “white” and the word “wolf” a lot, preferably in the title. On the other hand, if you search for “white wolf” with the quote marks, it will look for entries where ‘white’ and ‘wolf’ are in close proximity to each other, preferably right next to each other.
The search engine has some ability to recognise what you meant even if the spelling isn't exact, including phonetic approximation. However, as always with search engines, it is best to search for things that are simple, short and specific.

7/
How do I peruse lists of video games entries, lists of Marvel villains, etc.?“Advanced Search” button in the green box at the top. There are examples below the table.
Unlike the basic search, the Advanced Search doesn’t search through the full text of the entries. What it does is build on-demand lists of entries based on their attributes in the database - such as their Category or their Notes.

How do I display the DC Adventures/Mutants & Masterminds 3E entries? On the “Advanced Search” page, choose “Dual-stats” in the Game System menu then hit submit. You can add further search parameters, of course.

Do I have to scroll all the way back after reading a long entry? There’s a little button in the bottom right of your browser on every writeups.org page - an arrow pointing upward to an horizontal bar, set over a pale green button. It will zip you back to the very top of the page with one click.

10/
How do I check out entries ordered by popularity?“Most Popular” button in the green box at the top. This lists entries by number of views since the 2009, so this will mainly indicate what people were looking for - and what WORG readers told their friends to come check out.

11/
How do I find the members of a given team, or the characters from a given movie or game?Usually, these things are referenced in the “Notes” field. Entering the team, movie, etc. in the “Notes” field on the Advanced Search page will generate a list. There are a few subtleties ; to see the main one do an Advanced Search for “LSH” then a search for “Legion of super”.

Are there abridged versions of the writeups? Not directly - since every reader has a different definition of what the essential information is. However, using the means mentioned in “how do I print out an entry” you can quickly build an abridged version of a writeup that just has the information you need.
