Razor-Fist I v1

Razor-Fist I v1

By Sébastien Andrivet

Source of Character: Master of Kung-Fu v1 #29-31 (Marvel Universe)

Helper(s): Darci

Reasons (1): Razor-Fist I, II and III are classic street-level enforcers with strange visuals. They certainly can be useful in low-powered campaigns.

Reasons (2): Note that Razor-Fist I offically appeared but once, so stats are somewhat speculative (for my doubts about him having appeared but once, see both the end of the History section of this entry, and the Reasons section of the Razor-Fist II entry).

Game Stuff

Razor-Fist I

"Welcome, intruder. My name's Razor-Fist. Yours is unimportant and soon to grace a tombstone. Mr. Velcro has requested that I greet you. More precisely, his instructions were to shake hands with you. I'm sure you'll appreciate Mr. Velcro's wit more fully once you meet him yourself... one piece at a time !"

"My name is Razor-Fist. Know that I shall spit upon your blood."

"You are swift. My mouth waters."

Powers and Abilities

Young was a very large and powerful fighter, and very muscular. Both of his hands were replaced by large, heavy blades that could easily slash or thrust through solid stone - Razor-Fist could hack through or impale a statue. However, while he certainly was quite skilled, he could not go very far against the Master of Kung Fu - perhaps he was simply not used to having to fight A-list hand-to-hand combatants, or to actually getting hit with powerful attacks.

History:

The first Razor-Fist (who is not kin to the latter two, despite the rumour) was first seen as a bodyguard and enforcer for the feared drug lord Carlton Velcro. Living in Velcro's palace, he was at once a killer, a security officer and in charge of intimidating visitors -- demonstrating his ability to cleave through solid stone as Velcro explained to visitors that he did not fully guarantee what would happen to them if they were not allies. Another noteworthy mercenary employed by Velcro was Pavane, who handled the large number of black panthers prowling on the palace's grounds.

Sir Dennis Nayland-Smith was eventually tasked with bringing Velcro down (since conventional police forces could not touch him), and hatched a plan for his special agents to implement. Thus did Shang-Chi, the Master of Kung-Fu, run into Razor-Fist while invading Velcro's heavily-defended palace.

Though skilled, Razor-Fist proved not to be a match for Shang-Chi, who snapped off one of his blades (using his steel bracers) then Duped him into embedding the other into a wall. Razor-Fist pulled it free, but was again Duped into impaling a statue, and Shang-Chi then knocked him out.

Razor-Fist eventually Recovered and found Shang-Chi again. As he was preparing to engage him, Velcro and armed guards burst in. Not caring in the least that his loyal henchman was in the line of fire, Velcro ordered his men to open fire. Though they did not manage to hit the Master of Kung-Fu, the surprised Razor-Fist was cut down by automatic fire and soon died from his wounds.

During the clash of the assembled heroes of the DC and Marvel Universes against Krona, a Razor-Fist who may have been the first was among the assembled villains and mercenaries defending Krona ; since many such servants had been plucked out from the timestream, it may very well have been Young. You can also check the Reasons section of the Razor-Fist II entry for possible other Razor-Fist I appearances.

Description:

See illustration.

Personality

A loyal, stone-faced mercenary of few words, though he likes to hurl the occasional tough-guy threat and to act real confident and unstoppable. Some of his lines sounded scripted, perhaps at Velcro's request.
