War Nurse possessed no superhuman abilities, but she did posses expert fighting skills, as well as an extensive background in nursing.
Pat Parker was a nurse with the American military's air force division during World War II. Whenever the need arose, she would don a very skimpy costume and fight against espionage and other forms of enemy aggression as "War Nurse."
War Nurse originally worked solo, but she later lead a group of ladies known as the Girl Commandos. Pat Parker, War Nurse, made her debut in the 12th issue of Speed adopting her costumed identity one issue later. She last appeared in costume in issue 26. The Girl Commandos first appeared in issue 24. With issue 27, the strip was retitled "Girl Commandos." The retitled feature ran through issue 35, with a special last issue appearance in no. 44. Girl Commandos also made an appearance in All New Comics no. 11.
She wears a white short-sleeved halter top, blue gloves, black briefs, and red boots in addition to her white facemask which looks like a combination mask and tiara, as it only covers the top half of her face (and none of her black hair) and comes to a peak above her head. The mask has a blue cross on the top of it.
War Nurse is a decisive, take-charge kind of gal, all too rare during the war era.
War Nurse could easily have been an inactive member of the All-Star Squadron (inactive because she would usually be serving with the Air Force). She would almost certainly make the acquaintance of Dr. Mid-Nite, and if the Girl Commandos never met the Boy Commandoes, there just wouldn't be any justice in the world. In a Marvel Universe setting, she would no doubt be related to Peter Parker.
