Mike Bison (Alternate Take) v1.1

Mike Bison (Alternate Take) v1.1

By Tom Eilers

Source of Character: Street Fighter

Helper(s): Sean MacDonald for his 1.1 version, Eric Langendorff, Darci

Reasons: All characters in this series of wus follow their original Japanese naming convention. Thus Balrog is known as Mike Bison in the Japanese version. Likewise Bison is known as Vega in the Japanese version. For obvious reasons Capcom USA feared that they would get sued over the very obvious Mike Tyson parody that the Japanese branch had created so they switched the boss names around.

Reasons: He fulfills the generic role of heavy handed brick enforcer and would thus be useful as a villain in a variety of campaigns. That and there's something funny about having the characters fight a super powered Mike Tyson rip-off.

Powers and Abilities

Bison was a world class boxer who was permanently banned from the ring for permanently injuring quite a few other boxers. (He never did actually kill anyone in the ring.) Despite being a great boxer he was never formally trained (because was just too poor). All of his moves rely on sheer bone crushing brute force. He was strong enough to kill one of Dhalsim's elephants with one punch! That's basically all he has going for him. Other than that he's dumb as a stump, has the manners of rabid dog and is a greedy money grubbing opportunist who has delusions of grandeur.

History:

Street Fighter Zero 3

Bison joined the evil organization known as Shadaloo and worked his way up from the lower ranks. Most likely, he spent SFZ3 and prior running errands for Vega, then was sent to terminate Birdie. Bison was never told why he had to terminate Birdie, but he soon found out after he caught him. Birdie, in an attempt to buy some time, told Bison about the psycho drive that he was seeking out.

Wanting even more power and money for himself, Bison teamed up with Birdie and went looking for the psycho drive, thinking it was a money making scheme. He obviously wasn't very successful. After Nash blew up the Shadaloo base, Bison regretfully remarked that he was never able to find the psycho drive plans to make money. Birdie called him an idiot and said that the psycho drive was a device in the Shadaloo base. Bison realized to his horror that he didn't have his priorities straight and while he was searching for the psycho drive without knowing what it was, it blew up right from underneath his nose.

He then realized even more to his horror that Vega didn't get to pay him yet before blowing up.

Street Fighter 2

Bison was still a member of Shadaloo. He was never directly caught betraying Vega in SFZ3. He participated in the Street Fighter 2 tournament for money and also because he was a member of Shadaloo (Vega was back, since Shadaloo scientists constructed a new body for him. Hey, after Vega came back, maybe Bison did get paid, after all !). His new Street Fighter 2 Revival ending appears to be a joke ending (sorta), but it also doesn't contradict anything, so it's possible that it could be true (in fact, I myself am inclined to believe it is...).

Apparently, after Vega was killed, Bison took over Shadaloo, but due to his incompetence, he lost all his power and money and turned into a bum, and Shadaloo under his command basically self-destructed within a month.

Street Fighter 4

Together with Shadoloo's collapse he's become unaccounted for...

Where Is He Now

Whether his SF2 Revival ending happened or not, he's most likely once again a bum trying to find whatever ways he can to make cash, again.

Description:

Bison is a very large muscular intimidating African American whose face is almost always contorted into a permanent snarl. He typically wears blue boxing trunts a matching blue tank top and with a white T-shirt with the sleeves ripped off. He of course wears red boxing gloves as well. No word yet on if he'll get a tribal tattoo on his face. ;)

Personality

Bison's a very simple and straight forward dumb as an ox thug who dreams of wealth and power, but has no idea how to obtain it other than beating the crap out of people. Â In a lot of ways he's supposed to represent the broken American dream. He grew up in a poor family, but was able to become successful for a moment only to lose it all again due to his own ambitious greed and bloodlust. A fitting parody of Mike Tyson.

DC Universe History:

As stated above he could easily be dropped in for midlevel heroes. He could also be a pit fighter for Roulette and perhaps a Wild Cat opponent.
