Golden-Blade v1
By Sébastien Andrivet
Source of Character: Ms. Marvel v1 and, much later, Iron Man v3
Helper(s): Darci
Reasons (1): The Busiek-revised approach has been considered as the one most informing this writeup, since the original appearance was rather enigmatic. The writeup for Golden-Blade was kept brief - see the Sapper entry for more detail.
Reasons (2): Since they have so few appearances, the stats for Sapper and Golden-Blade are clearly on the speculative side.
Writeups.org & Amazon.com recommend Iron Man (1998 series) #23-25
and Iron Manual Mk3.

Powers and Abilities
Golden-Blade is a full-conversion cyborg, with superhuman strength and astounding durability. As might be guessed from his name, he can extrude numerous sword-like, thorn-like or claw-like blades from his body - to be used as melee weapons or even shot as projectiles with great force. Some mechanism (presumably an otherdimensional portal) seems to allow him to generate enough mass to shoot streams of blades whenever needed.
Ms. Marvel has stated that Golden-Blade main blades were “ionic swords”, and volleys of such blades shot from his body were actually able to penetrate Ultimo’s ’skin’, though not to inflict any RAPs.
Both Sapper and Golden-Blade generally keep their HPs for LDD, and seldom if ever use them to enhance AV.
History
Golden-Blade was originally a British fur trapper in North America, trapping in what would become the state of Washington near the Idaho border. During the early 1840s, however, his life took a dramatic turn toward the strange.
Mr. Seavey nearly died in a catastrophic accident - when a Rajaki merchant spaceship crashed in his vicinity. The space aliens had just been shot down by the giant robot Ultimo, and the impact devastated both the ship and the countryside. One of the Rajakis, later called Sapper, survived the crash thanks to his partially cybernetic nature. Finding Seavey near death whilst surveying the damage, Sapper saved his life by transplanting what remained of Seavey into a mechanoid body. Sapper gave him a Rajaki name that translated as “Golden-Blade”, and Golden-Blade remained a close ally of Sapper to repay him for his largess.
Ever since, for more than a century and a half, Sapper and Golden-Blade foraged, scrounged and stole resources to repair the enormous Rajaki ship and built cybernetic bodies to download the back-upped consciousnesses of the crew. Many key resources remained exceedingly hard to obtain on Earth, however - though the building of numerous nuclear reactors by Earthmen apparently facilitated their work from the 1970s onward.
With help from Iron Man, the pair eventually repaired their ship and left Earth to continue their efforts to resurrect the crew in artificial bodies. Though Golden-Blade looked forward to adventuring among the stars, he said he and his friend would come back to Earth if they ever tired of it.
Description
See illustrations. Both Golden-Blade and Sapper’s appearance keeps evolving as Sapper improves and adapts the designs based on what resources they can acquire.
Personality
In the more recent appearances G.B. was using dated British English and seemed to have a swashbuckling, adventurous, mostly heroic personality. While he and Sapper do a lot of stealing and pillaging, it is to save the lives of the Rajaki crew, and Golden-Blade will always take the time to save any bystander endangered by their actions, seeing himself as roguish but decent.
Since Sapper doesn’t speak English, Golden-Blade acts as a translator when his friend speaks in Rajaki - but talks to Sapper in English, so presumably Sapper can understand but not speak the language. He has no problem explaining who he is and what they do, and in fact seems to consider that this is a pretty cool and exciting tale.
