T-Ray

“After I butcher those of you who are staring, expect me to do things to the remains in front of your relatives. Good doggies.”

Deadpool: “Why aren’t you dead ?”
T-Ray: “Simple, boy… You went for the heart. And I haven’t had one of those in years… not since you tore mine out. But don’t worry, I’m not bitter… life is much more stimulating without it.”

Powers: Teleportation (ML): 10, Sorcery: 08

Connections: Typhoid Mary (Low), Underworld (Low), Mercenary circles (Low)

Drawbacks: Distinct Appearance, MIH (Deadpool)

Rituals: He has used an undefined divinatory spell [Acuity: 06], which required more ceremony than his regular magics, a circle of symbols on post-its surrounding him and some bodies nearby which may have been part of the casting. He also managed to raise his wife as an intelligent undead by some means.

Equipment: He often conjures a large sword and armour with which to fight.

  • Magic Sword [BODY 10, EV 05 (08 w/STR, 09 w/MA]
  • MAGIC ARMOUR [/BODY/ 09]

In addition to a pad and paper [BODY 01], he has worn shotguns on his back, and used a baseball bat as a weapon. Baseball Bat [BODY 09, EV 04 (08 w/STR, 09 w/MA)]

Spellcasting
He casts spells by scribbling a symbol, usually using the pad and pencil he carries with him. This takes an Automatic Action to do, although it is possible for him to prepare them beforehand and activate more than one spell in a phase (but the most he can hold in abeyance in this manner is three at a time).

T-Ray’s Uncertain Mortality
T-Ray may actually be undead. He took being stabbed through the heart unfazed, has pale skin, smells bad (according to Deadpool), and when Deadpool shot a hole in his stomach he found just dirt and maggots where his organs should be. Since he then appeared to vanish after the wound, however, this could just have been a conjured simulacrum.

Since it’s unclear, you may either wish to give him Self-Link (Animate Dead): 10, or using Sorcery to duplicate the effects of Split with the description that it makes the duplicate out of soil.

Powers and Abilities

Superhumanly strong, possibly due to mystical means, T-Ray is also tough, and hard to kill, surviving being stabbed through the heart without serious effect. He’s a skilled fighter, capable of using a number of weapons, although he seems to favour a large sword.

T-Ray

He has extensive knowledge of areas of magic, and has exhibited a range of powers, usually achieved by scribbling symbols on a pad of paper he carries with him. Effects include, conjuring mystical armour and sword, blasts of mystical energy, setting things alight, weather manipulation, flight, teleportation, and raising the dead.

History

Wade Wilson was a hippie/teacher, living in a remote cabin with his wife Mercedes. One day they saved the life of a mercenary named Jack, who repaid them by murdering Mercedes and leaving Wade for dead. The two men became Deadpool and T-Ray, although which is which is a matter of debate (the main points are listed on his Wikipedia entry).

T-Ray claimed the mercenary Jack was so traumatised by having killed an innocent that he decided he must be Wade Wilson, and went on to become Deadpool. Deadpool doesn’t remember any of it. Various sources have proved the truth both ways, so it’s still not really known for certain, but T-Ray is certain he’s the original Wade Wilson.

Revenge

Found by the people who’d been hunting Jack, Wade was trained up as a tool, which he happily accepted as he became obsessed with revenge, eventually splitting from them to become a mercenary himself. He kept searching for weapons to use against Jack, his hunt leading him to Japan, where he learned magic.

He’s known to have been with Typhoid Mary for six months in Baliz, although the exact nature of their relationship is unclear.

T-Ray

Learning Deadpool worked out of the Hellhouse in Chicago, he moved there himself, continuing to work as a mercenary while constantly trying to needle Deadpool as he plotted his revenge calmly and methodically. He often took the more gruesome jobs, even ones other mercenaries wouldn’t touch, such as killing children, and always took proof of his kill to his clients, whether they wanted them or not, so they knew what had been done for them, and how indispensable he was.

[During one scene T-Ray is seen with a number of names on his back, all but Wilson having been crossed off. The significance is unknown. Possibly he blamed others for what had happened to him, and had already killed them, although why he would have Wilson rather than Jack is unclear. One theory speculated is that they were the list of others whose identities Jack had stolen through the years, who T-Ray had already checked out while searching for him, but why he’d leave his own identity until last is suspicious.]

He continued escalating his vendetta against Deadpool, raising tensions in the Hellhouse, until he finally challenged Deadpool to a duel in San Francisco Park (knowing that Deadpool secretly lived in San Francisco). They fought, and T-Ray won, satisfied for the moment with having broken Deadpool, but by no means finished with punishing him.

T-Ray

T-Ray then took control of the Hellhouse, allowing Deadpool to wallow in his failure until he decided it was time. Then he raised Mercedes, wiping her memory of her death so that she didn’t know time had passed, and manipulated Deadpool into meeting her.

Endgame

Giving them time for Deadpool to form an emotional attachment to who he believed to be his wife, T-Ray abducted them to his old home, where he revealed the truth. Deadpool was broken by the revelation, for all of a few moments, before laughing it off. At least he was trying to become a better person, unlike T-Ray, who’d become a monster.

Enraged, T-Ray prepared to attack Deadpool with the raised army of his victims, but Mercedes intervened. T-Ray had shared his power with her, but on learning what he’d done to her, and used her for, she turned on him. She couldn’t forgive Deadpool what he’d done, though, and left him to the souls of his victims, but leaves taking T-Ray with her.

Agent of Thanos

It’s uncertain what happened between them, but T-Ray appeared unable to abandon his hatred of Deadpool, and was recruited by Thanos to resurrect him so he could suffer further. Thanos wanted Deadpool alive so he wouldn’t get in the way of his making a move on Death, who had a thing for Deadpool.

T-Ray

Using a cosmic artifact, the Gemini Star, he split portions of Deadpool off into separate beings whom he manipulated. Deadpool managed to damage the Gemini Star, though, forcing T-Ray to absorb all the artificial beings himself. This left him a drooling vegetable, and one of Deadpool’s homeless friends took a shine to him, taking T-Ray as her lover.

More Revenge

Recovering (from the mindless state, at least, any memories he retains have probably permanently scarred him), T-Ray returned to seek revenge on Deadpool, kidnapping his friends to draw him out. They fought again and Deadpool won, stabbing T-Ray in the head, at which point he disappeared.

His body fell through a few dimensions, leaking mystic energies from the wound as he did. This caused Dr. Strange to hire Deadpool to travel through the dimensions and undo the damage by reviving T-Ray. Alive again, he attacked Deadpool, without much success. The fight ended when Doctor Strange revealed that due to his link to the damage caused, T-Ray had to serve as guardian for the integrity of the mystical barriers between dimensions.

Accepting this, T-Ray parted from Deadpool, not on friendly terms, but no longer trying to kill each other.

Personality

Obsessed with revenge on Deadpool, T-Ray approaches it in a coldly methodical manner, controlling the roiling temper which bubbles just beneath the surface, determined to cause as much pain as he can in the process, oblivious to others harmed during his vendetta. Intensely intimidating, he throws his weight around, browbeating everyone into doing what he wants.

If he was the real Wade Wilson then the loss of his wife caused a psychotic break which has turned him into a monster, and he doesn’t consider other people much, his world primarily consisting of him and Deadpool. He won’t necessarily go out of his way to harm anyone unless he’s paid to do so, or if it would hurt Deadpool, but doesn’t seem to feel any remorse if he has to do so.

Following his absorption of elements of Deadpool’s persona, T-Ray has exhibited elements of his personality, such as breaking the fourth wall, and both of them having exactly the same reaction to Dr. Strange telling them they both had the seeds of greatness within them.
