Context

The Herculoids are a vintage Hanna-Barbera cartoon. It’s one of those “Saturday morning cartoons” that old people used to watch on TV. There was one season in 1967, and a one-season revival in 1981.

It’s vague sci-fi trappings evoke Johnny Quest or Space Ghost, two other HB classics.

These are old notes, purely about game stats.

    Zandor’s shield is much like Captain America’s but less attractive. It can be thrown so that it returns, but this is a Trick Shot ; fortunately, Zandor’s scholar negates this penalty.
  • Slingshot [BODY 01 STR 05]. This is usually used in conjuction with energy rocks.
  • Energy Rocks [BODY 01, EV: 11]. When hurled at an opponent, these rocks explode with energy. This is not the Bomb power, though, since the explosion has no area of effect.
  • JUNGLE VINES [BODY 05, Stretching: 01, Jumping: 06]. Zandor routinely uses some rubbery jungle vines to bounce from one place to another. To do so requires an Acrobatics roll against OV/RV equal to APs of Jumping that will be used. This looks really goofy in the cartoon, as he headbutts several vines before shooting off in the direction he wants to travel.

He’s a cartoon kid, so he’s always getting into trouble. Often, though, he’s useful, since he sneaks out to help his father when Zandor gets into trouble. Oddly enough he always calls his parents by their names, rather than “mom” or “dad”.

Bonuses and Limitations:

  • Projectile Weapons represents Tundro’s ability to fire energy rocks from the spike on his forehead. Presumably, he has a finite supply of energy rocks, rather than actually being able to produce them. If this is the case, PW should have Minor Power Burnout.
  • Growth is always on; it therefore adds 5 to STR (already taken into account), adds 5 to RV, and subtracts 2 from OV.

Drawbacks:
He doesn’t have arms. He also can’t speak a human language.
