Lifter (Strikeforce Morituri)

Lifter

(Fiona Windsor)

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Context

Strikeforce Morituri was an intriguing 1986-1989 Marvel series, taking place in its own universe. It was a military sci-fi saga, centred on superhuman soldiers fighting to repel alien invaders who very nearly crushed Earth.

The main twist was that the treatment giving powers to volunteers was invariably fatal, leaving little life expectancy to the super-soldiers. Hence the name, derived from the famous Latin phrase morituri te salutant  (“those about to die salute you”).

Background

  • Real Name: Fiona Windsor.
  • Marital Status: Single.
  • Known Relatives: None.
  • Group Affiliation: Strikeforce Morituri.
  • Base Of Operations: Morituri Mountain.
  • Eyes: Red Hair: Green

Powers and Abilities

In addition to the normal Morituri physical enhancements, Lifter had powerful telekinetic abilities. She was able to fly carrying herself and three other people with ease.

History

Fiona Windson is from England. Her background and reasons for volunteering are unknown. She joined the team shortly after the VXX199 appeared, just in time for Shear’s psychotic episode.

She only fought one action against the Horde before being swept up in the coup attempt by a rogue faction in the government. After the war she and Revenge began going out together.

Description

Lifter is a tall, statuesque woman with long red hair. She wore a blue body suit with a white lightning bolt down the center.

Personality

Lifter was a pleasant woman swept up in unforeseen events. She had volunteered to fight the Horde, only to have strange aliens arrive and drive them off.

Before she could come to terms with not having a purpose and only one year to live (the team did not learn of the cure until later), a faction in the government tried to have her killed.

She readily followed Scanner’s lead and was never shy about using her powers as best she could.

Quotes

“Yeah ! Let’s show these people what makes us Morituri !”

DC Universe History

As written, the Morituri were in their own stand-alone universe. However, the idea of the Morituri process works in any universe. Perhaps a new, more determined alien invasion attacks and earth’s normal superheroes are outmatched. STAR Labs or Lexcorp could develop this process to help turn the tide.
