Shocktrooper alien (Half-Life video game)

Shocktrooper

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Context

This creature is from the original, 1998/99 HλLF-LIFE video game. For more context you can refer to those two articles :

Background

  • Base Of Operations: Xen
  • Size: About 9’ tall and 4’ wide

Powers and Abilities

These huge insects form the core of the Race-X forces. They are fairly quick and agile with a rudimentary grasp of tactics.

They are usually armed with lightning-spewing shockrifles and can spit globules of explosive mucus.

History

The Black Mesa complex is a private high-tech research installation (with strong ties to the U.S. Government) located somewhere in the American Southwest. An accident in the Anomalous Materials Lab caused a dimensional breach into the world known as Xen.

Shocktroopers (or Shock Troopers) are part of the Race-X forces that appeared during the later part of the Black Mesa incident.

Description

Shocktroopers look like anthropomorphic grasshoppers with a single large yellow eye in the center of their foreheads.

Personality

The Shocktroopers use very basic tactics:

  • Shoot any humans they encounter.
  • If injured, retreat and regroup.

They will use their Bomb power as a mortar weapon against enemies that have retreated behind barriers. They can communicate with one another vocally, in their own unique language.

Shocktroopers are usually deployed in groups. Lone Shocktroopers will have a pair of Pit Drones under their command and will use them much the same way that humans will use trained canines.
