Context

The Legion of Super-Heroes, a youth club in the far future, has been a part of the DC Universe since 1958. There were various initiatives along the decades to revitalise this venerable institution. A big one was a complete continuity reboot  in 1994.

These notes are for one of the main characters in this rebooted reality. Like the rest of our reboot notes, they were taken when the reboot was still relatively recent.

Umbra is the equivalent of the pre-reboot Shadow Lass.

Background

  • Real Name: Tasmia Mallor.
  • Known Relatives: Mother (deceased).
  • Base Of Operations: Metropolis, Earth.
  • Group Affiliation: LSH.
  • Home Planet: Talok VIII.


Powers and Abilities

Tasmia wields the hereditary power of the shadow champions of Talok VIII, the same power once wielded by Lyrissa and Lydea Mallor. She can cast fields of darkness that obscures vision, as well as focus the darkness as ranged concussive bursts.


History

Tasmia Mallor is the latest descendant of a family of heroes. These have defended Talok VIII for centuries with their power to project darkness.

But she was deemed too zealously protective of Talok’s unique traditions. Unlike Tasmia, the planetary leadership sought greater contact with other worlds, including joining the United Planets. She was therefore removed from her position planetary champion.

Mallor traveled throughout the U.P.. She eventually took the code-name Umbra and joined the Legion of Super-Heroes during their open call for new members. This called followed their devastating encounter with the Emerald Eye of Ekron.

Tasmia considers this new position something of a consolation prize.


Description

Tasmia, like all Talokians, has light blue skin and pointed ears. She has long, black hair.

Her outfit is dark blue/black, with a blue cape.


Personality

As her namesake would indicate, Tasmia is somber and private.

She is frequently annoyed by the upbeat nature of most Legionnaires, and enjoys combat.
