For some unfathomable reason, this batch if packed full of complicated writeups with a fair bit of meat -- as usual randomness creates pattern. Roll call:
- ART. Lt. Howard Hunter from a previous batch is now illustrated. Also, more art for Gargoyle (Topolov), Gamecock, 'Cockroach' Hamilton and Justin Hammer, from the OHOTMU hardbacks (again, if you like this site, you'll love those books).
- Adding to our collection of timelines we will have a long piece by Hominid, detailing much of the XXth century from his campaign, which mixes DC and Marvel elements. I say 'will' because I've just discovered a bug of the current site, which cannot display the first two-third of the document. This considerable annoyance should go away with the next version in a few weeks.
- Jason's old writeup for old fantasy character, the Death Dealer, is now online. The character is probably best known from the Frazetta paintings.
- REWRITES. This batch's rewrite is our buddy Molotov, the next-to-last People's Heroes member to be rewritten.
- Digger is the reanimated, gamma-powered remains of thirteen Mafia capos fused into one super-strong humanoid ; it fought Spider-Man.
- FAUST is another unlikely Marvel villain - an intelligent high-tech automated factory. Made of Adamantium. With lasers.
- AGENTS OF ATLAS. We now have the entry for Namora as she currently is - at some point there should be an entry for Namora as she was in the Golden Age.
- A while back we worked on a refresh of the stats for the Flash (Wally West) - here it is. You'd think the Flash would have gotten in faster...
- FINAL FANTASY. Another of Tom's profiles about FFX characters - this time it's Kimahri Ronso, who *again* is not played by Dr. Henry McCoy.
- One of the classic swords-and-sorcery DC characters of the 70s was Stalker, the cursed master swordsman without a soul and with burning eyes - and he has since reappeared in interesting manners in the DCU.
- CLUB SUPER 3. Another member of the cast - Pau.
- Another Spanish character, though in a very different Genre, is Truhan, from the novel Juglar. He's a magic-wielding ally of the legendary el Cid !
- A further Ultron writeup comes to WORG ; this one covers Ultron-6 and Ultimate Ultron, as we reach the point where the nefarious robot gains his famous Adamantium body. Lots of Adamantium in this batch.
- Zero is the hero of the post-apocalyptic Dark Horse comic Zero Killer. He does not have any Adamantium.
Current number of entries is 3909.

I'm fairly happy with the pace of the batches (things are so much easier when you have ample free time...), and finding publishable material in the backlog is getting quite long a process, which is a good sign. So here is another rather heteroclite and unlikely line-up. Roll call:
- ART. Actually we are now running a negative tally :-p . Current pace of publishing is steadily outstripping the ability of contributors to provide illustrations, though we're going to land on our feet eventually.
- We have our first two entries from Club Super 3 (it's a Catalan TV kiddies show - really), with Roc and Alex.
- REWRITES. The rewrite for this batch is one of a number of Black Knights - the villainous Nathan Garrett, who inspired the best-known Black Knight (Dane Whitman of the Avengers) and was his uncle. A classic second-string 1960s Marvel villain.
- Continuing our roster of mid-80s DC villains, here comes Superman foe Bloodsport I (you'll get the second one later), with his arsenal of experimental guns and explosives.
- An unusual writeup from David is the Bloody Mary of Miami urban myths ; the writeup is accompanied by a lengthy newspaper article about this sinister piece of modern folklore.
- Mirage's updated Captain Cold writeup is now online, giving better definition to the available profiles of this classic Rogue's Gallery member.
- Gareth has written up a number of opponents of the zany DCU hero the Heckler, who are also rather unusual themselves. The first such entry is the Cosmic Clown.
- Another product of Kal El's random generator - the strange Doctor Blue
- Two minor Timely/Marvel supervillains from the early 1950s were written up during the work on the Golden Age entry for Marvel Boy, and are in this batch - the Serpent (an exotic shapechanger) and the original Great Video (the name alone is worth a peek).
- We occasionally have Hanna-Barbera cartoon entries - for instance I've just exhumed Sean's entry for the Herculoids, which has just about everyone in one writeup
- A few more homemade characters - here ride in the Four Horsemen reimagined by Mike
- And lastly we have what I assume is the biggest name in this batch - SWAT Lt. Howard Hunter from seminal TV series Hill Street Blues.
Current number of entries is 3897.

This is another "anything that is publishable goes in" random grab, with plenty of low-profile characters. Work on the new version of the site vigourously continues in the meanhile. Roll call:
- NEW ART. Fixed the Confessor's picture (the Astro City one), continued to build up the huge Wonder Woman (Diana) picture, fixed some missing insets (Apparition, Aquaman, Samaritan).
- BRIGADE. I've done a first batch of entries for the (hopefully forgotten) early Brigade characters - one of the earliest, and grossly oversold Image series, back when I rewrote the Lethal entry. This guys are fairly bland and archetypal, which I think makes them useful to have on tap. Here's what I have for now (I may do more at some point):
- Atlas, the Growth guy on the team, who died
- Boone, the macho gunfighter type
- Kayo, the Japanese martial artist guy type - and oh wait, this also counts as a rewrite.
- Peter wrote an article on the nature and physics of the Phantom Zone in the DCU - now it's on WORG.
- STRIKEBACK. Another villain both minor and somewhat ridiculous who fought that team -- Der Flogmeister !!!1!
- Renegade was an early Rockworld character from Chad, and is sort of a stereotypical PC
- RENEE MONTOYA IS... THE QUESTION ! The last writeup you've been waiting for, covering that very popular character's (still nascent) career as the new Question.
- Stretch Perverto was part of an "evil animated-style version of super-heroes" campaign, written up by Andrew. He joins his colleagues Major Terror, Bloody Mary and Martian Manslayer.
- REWRITES.
- Minor DC villain Shockwave gets a complete overhaul, which is good since he's a very convenient and easy to use villain.
- Plus Kayo, as noted above.
- A fair number of adjustments (though certainly not a full rewrite) have also been done to the Cyclops (Classic) writeup ; a fair bit of material has been added to the Invincible writeup and the Omni-Man writeup.
- Woody is the kid sidekick of Hawk-Owl in Marvel's Ultimate Universe, and he *finally* gets to join his friend on WORG months after Peter wrote him up
- UNDEAD. Two new entries from that group that brings terror to Bil's Campaign - Wight and Vampyre.
- And finally, Kal El gives us Ideal, from our ancient "Wild Hunt II" character creation sort-of-contest.
Current number of entries is 3885.

The theme of this batch is "heh ? Who with a what ?". You see, normally I sometimes skip super-obscure and homemade characters who come up during random search in the backlog, in order not to have too many of them in a given batch. However, the backlog is getting low enough that I have to use more of those - the safety is off ! And it might be a good occasion to convince people that character they don't know about can be interesting. Roll call:
- NEW ART. Some new bits for Grond (again from the Champions MMO), the Sheeda forces, the column that had been missing for a while for the Leviathan (the one made of children and seen in Morrison's fantastic Seven Soldiers) - and the main illustration for Helter Skelter. Plus of course various insets getting replaced (Human ants from the Sixth Continent, Frankenstein, Ebenezzer Badde, the Golden Eagle and Backlash of the Cadre, some Sheeda critters, the Shining Knight (Ystina), etc.)
- Blackguard. He fought, hmmm... Booster Gold. If you know him it's probably thanks to his Who's Who in the DC Universe entry. Very handy, simple villain to have.
- Bloodfire, a PC from an old campaign Pufnstuff was in -- a very very 90s PC.
- COMMITEE - Another random hitman with a schtick - this one is Bull, the strongman. He's a bit of an archetype.
- Barnett Pasternak was a thief until he accidentally became the Midnight Man, LA's urban legend and vigilante from a 1990s cinematic Howard Chaykin miniseries. An interesting and unusual "super-hero".
- Bulldozer - *this* Bulldozer is the one from the Champions universe, as adapted to MEGS by REZcat. A good, generic brick.
- REWRITES. True to form, the rewritten entry for this batch is... a minor Golden Age Marvel character, the mysterious Jack Frost. He's an early wartime Stan Lee creation.
- Carapax. He was part of one of the post-Crisis's Blue Beetle earliest subplots. Obscure and largely forgotten (though he got a Who's Who entry), but he's actually quite powerful and the armour design is genuinely good.
- Daredevil 2099 (no, not *that* 2099 continuity, the other one), a one-shot but interesting heir to both the Kingpin and Daredevil legacies... a sort of mediocre anti-hero in a grey world.
- Ghost II, one of the PCs from Kal El's "New Global Guardians" campaign.
- Ghoul, a villain from the group The Undead in Bil's campaign - like some of the entries from Bil, this one has original 3D modelisation of the character.
- Kihei Soge, Pufnstuff's son's PC in a Naruto-style campaign. Like Bloodfire in this batch and the recent Helter Skelter and Black Claw, this entry has original art by Pufnstuff.
- STRIKEBACK - team member Midnight Devil by Gareth, with the classic ability of having a detachable tail.
- Torrente is an anti-hero (with a strong emphasis on the "anti") of a series of Spanish movies about his pathetic, petty exploits to defend king and country.
So who was the biggest name among this batch ? You decide ! Current number of entries is 3874.
11/14/2008
The last missing graphical bits for the nextgen WORG are now finished, as is the core SQL query module. Let's keep our fingers crossed, and in the meanwhile here come a double handful of fairly cool stuff -- roll call:
- NEW ART. Just a few more replacement of inset art (Monstro III, Puck II, Tejja the silek killer, etc.), plus two entries from recent batches (Bennet and Ebony) that are now illustrated.
- Mister Spaceman is one of the few test character for Kal El's random generator I have left.
- INSET ART. Given the (particularly annoying) current instability of the server hosting the inset images, everything has been rewritten so inset images are now served by the server hosting the future version of WORG. So all available inset images (those embedded within the text column, as opposed to the right-hand illustration column) should now reliably show up. Of course, the images that have yet to be replaced following the crash some time back will not show. There are now close to 500 insets, though they are disproportionally concentrated in newer writeups.
- The biggest name in this batch is likely Vic Mackey, the star of the fan-favourite The Shield TV Series, as written up by Tom.
- LARSENVERSE. It's been a long time since the previous Larsenverse entry, so here comes Wildstar, time-traveler from the future.
- Mister Clean is a brutal, heavily armed, enhanced assassin and 'cleaner' on the Church of Humanity's payrolls. A dangerous killer of mutants, originally seen in the UK.
- STRIKEBACK. The oddly named and odd-looking Rock Lobster is a minor villain who fought Strikeback.
- Tar and S-Tar are two combat enhancements drugs seen in the DC Universe, allowing the user to briefly 'Hulk out' and gain superhuman strength and durability.
- COMMITTEE. Another improbable 1970s Committee enforcer - this time Kay-Twelve aka Behemoth, a golem-like robot.
- The Metabarons saga is one of the major sci-fi comic book series, though as usual for European comics it was largely ignored in the US. In this batch, Peter covers one of the Metabarons from long ago, Othon the Thrice Removed Progenitor.
- REWRITES. A pair of cool but under-appreciated characters had their entry overhauled:
- Lovingly crafted, wholly re-researched and rewritten is the new double-barelled entry for the Most Dangerous Woman In The Universe - the old, indifferent entry for Gamora has been replaced by two medium-sized writeups. The 'early' entry covers her origin, childhood and career as Thanos's lovely assistant and special-purpose assassin ; the 'Infinity Watch era' entry covers her resurrection and various adventures with and without Adam Warlock until the couple leaves the Heart of Darkness.
- The entry for Henri Ducard has also been upgraded to v1.1, with more information and detail and stuff to better describe this worgmeister's favourite. There is also additional art depicting the man who taught to Bruce Wayne the fine art of manhunting.
- Nautilus and Razorwire are two very minor Spider-Man villains with a fairly low power level, who have been selected since they are quite generic and can be used pretty much anywhere with no preparation.
- ALMOST HURRAY FOR, ERRR, ALTERNATIVE DISTRIBUTION METHODS. I hoped to recover some of the lost insets when a community member told me that a less-than-legal torrents site was distributing a big pdf with many writeups.org entries... Unfortunately this archive was done after the crash. Writeups.org's well documented Unluck Drawback strikes again !
Current number of entries is 3862.

I'm starting to get the feeling the backlog is receding a bit - which also means that, beyond Marvel Boy and Ms. Montoya, we're getting some seriously weird and obscure stuff. :-) Roll call:
- NEW ART. Ali Ka-Zoom and Gimmix both got new stuff.
- Agent Hazzard is an interesting if obscure Marvel Universe super-soldier who underwent a tragic and poignant descent into insanity.
- COMMITTEE. Another minor hitman with a gimmick - Dragon, the karate hitman.
- Filling out our collection of combat robots, here comes another minor one, the Attackoid.
- Ebony, on the other hand, fills out our collection of opponents for Philippines's main super-heroine, Darna. This entry was written by Adam.
- It has been a very long while since we haven't had a conversion of an Aberrant character, so this batch has Epoch.
- AGENTS OF ATLAS. This is the turn of Marvel Boy, who likes Jimmy Woo gets a double-barelled writeup - a 'Classic' entry about his adventures as published in the early 1950s, and a 'Modern' writeup by Gareth based on his much more recent incarnation.
- 'Memphis' Raines is Nicolas Cage's character in Gone in 60 seconds, a gifted high-end car thief who runs into trouble (writeup by Mike).
- Our first entry on Morgan Le Fay is by David and covers the medieval version of the character from Le Morte d'Arthur.
- RENEE MONTOYA. Here comes the second writeup, covering Renee from the quake to her becoming the Question. This huuuuuge (but heavily illustrated for the readers's sake) writeup is also voluminous since it is ended to be a good brief about what happened in Gotham between the quake and 2006, as seen by the GCPD - an useful resource for those with a campaign set in Gotham.
- Smokescream is a minor but potentially frustrating Marvel villain.
- The legendary Sonny Sumo, recently back in the pages of Final Crisis, gets a writeup covering his original - and impressive - appearance in, Forever People.
- And finally we get another entry by Pur_see_i8 on Grindhouse - this time the villain of Death-Proof, the one and only Stuntman Mike.
Current number of entries is 3849.
11/07/2008
Work on the next version of the site has now reached one of those "flurry of work" phases that exist between the "months go by and nothing happens" phases. It's not done yet, but things are looking fairly good. In the meantime... MORE CONTENT ! Roll call:
- NEW ART. Despite the current One Big Rush, there's some - including some material sent to me months ago I never had time to work on:
- Kal El's homebrewed character Hacker got illustrated within a few hours of publication, but since half-a-dozen people had already checked it up I need to mention it.
- Mighty Man II
- Demonfire (Champions conversion)
- Black Mace (pre-Crisis entry)
- Nemesis Kid
- Reuben Flagg (from the previous batch)
- Tharok (his post-reboot entry, which went unillustrated for years)
- Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell)
- Onslaught (from a recent batch)
- Green Dragon (Champions conversion) got a first illustration
- Quanto
- Starlord (Peter Quill)
- Dormammu
- Plus some new inset images that got fixed
- New winner for the "longest time to get found and published by the Worgmeister" award - one of Richard's first characters, Twilight. Richard posted this writeup to the list nine years ago.
- WORG PATROL. The text for the Hacker (Kal El's homemade) has been improved, as was the generally terrible Martin Soap entry. Czonk aka the Baffler has received his inexplicably missing Uncertainty Drawback. Plus, as usual, a few typos and formatting issues gettin' fixed here and there, plus various clarifications in confusing and/or clumsy text.
- An entry by Mike about Danny Archer, Leonardo Dicaprio's character in the movie Blood Diamonds - a White African mercenary and troubleshooter who finds redemption.
- AGENTS OF ATLAS. In this batch we extensively cover the boss - Jimmy Woo. Gareth's 'current' entry is for the take on the character seen in the Agents of Atlas series and other recent books ; the other, 'classic' writeup covers Agent Woo as published during the 1950s and 60s. All things Woo - whom I think was a very early example of a positive Asian-American hero in popular media - are your to peruse !
- From John Ringo's Posleen War novels, Mike has assembled a profile for Posleen warriors
- REWRITES. In this batch:
- Mace's writeup for Edge (from the DCU annual crossover Blood Lines) has received a number of tweaks and additional material
- Doug's ageing entry for Marvel's Nocturne II has been thoroughly overhauled and rewritten - and reillustrated, since I had mistakenly put a Nocturne I shot in there
- Snake and Powerhouse are two very obscure villains in the DC Universe, but they have a classic period charm that screams 'generic 70s villain' so they're definitely in.
- STORMWATCH PHD. We now reach the Monstrosity - Professor Shaw is the team's sort of, kind of Hulk due to his problematic Daemonite ancestry. As with everybody on the team he's pretty interesting.
- Thelma Bates the ghost is the quirky heroine from 1990s British TV series Hex - this first season profile was written up by Nick
- RENEE MONTOYA. Since this very popular DC character has extensive backstory (in large part due to her involvement with most activities of the GCPD), her huge profile has been broken down into three parts, which will be published in three batches. This entry covers her early life and first appearances, up to the earthquake in Gotham.
- Velma's entry is part of Mark's small arc about his Elseworld reinvention of the Scooby Doo gang, and thus joins Fred and Shaggy on WORG.
- CHAMPIONS. The newest profile from REZcat is a conversion of a traditional blaster villain from that game, Pulsar.
Current number of entries is 3836.
11/04/2008
At this rate you'd thing the backlog would diminish, but given the sheer amount of content the community produces... Anyway, roll call:
- NEW ART. Skyrocket got her illos, and a few more wide-format pictures have been patiently redone. Black Claw is now also illustrated -- with some cool original artwork from Pufnstuff.
- The Banshee is a very minor Ditko villain - encountered during the pre-Crisis writeup for the Question. He's a gliding thief with a strange, cool costume.
- The Boar is a stupid, hairy, obscure Marvel thug with a rather modern style. He's great if you just need some random muscle that will fit in anywhere.
- REWRITES. Continuous improvement goes on ; in this batch:
- Another of the old People's Heroes has been entirely redone - this time it's Bolschoi, the kung fu dancer
- The entry for Earl and Val (the sort-of heroes from the movie Tremors) has received new material and a few typos have been fixed
- The entry for Batgirl III (Cassandra Cain) has received a series of small tweaks and nudges, mostly in terms of game stats ; further revisions will be done at some point, since she's one of the WORGmeister's fav characters (and a very popular entry among the readership - nearly 6,000 views so far)
- Codename: Assassin is a very 1970s obscure hero with an odd, period charm and somewhat chaotic powers. And I like the classic costume.
- Through an amusing coincidence, Hacker follows right on the heels of his buddy Slasher - so we now have both halves of Hack 'n' Slash, homebrewed characters of Kal El's, on WORG
- HEROES. Here comes Noah Bennet (and his horn-rimmed glasses), courtesy of Adam. We're still discussing the stats of his taser but that should be fixed soon.
- One of the big guys in this batch is one of the major non-mainstream-comic protagonists - Howard Chaykin's inimitable Reuben Flagg, from the successful series American Flagg, has been written up by Peter.
- CHAMPIONS. REZcat's Champions adaptation for this batch is one of the older characters for that game - Crusader.
- Brother Lars aka Barricade is yet another of those obscure, but handy and interesting, villains WORG contributors love researching. He's an archer-monk from the same monastery as Green Arrow, who became a super-strong armoured undead !
- Madame La Morte / La Signora Morta is an odd villain from the early 1950s who fought Marvel Boy. She's got period charm, actually, and you can prolly write interesting things with her.
- AGENTS OF ATLAS. Gareth presents an entry about M11, the Human Robot, as we continue our tour through this fan-favourite story. Brace yourselves when you finish reading about this killer robot from the Golden Age, 'cause the next entries will be Even More Serious Business.
- Tsunami is a Japanese sculptor, martial arts teacher and former intelligence operative who taught Green Arrow and John Butcher, among others.
Current number of entries is 3825. Please note that it is difficult for most contributors to prepare illustrations in time to keep pace with the current publication rate, so some writeups in the last few batches may get illustrated after a few days of delay. Those are usually mentioned in the ART section of one of the next batches, like Skyrocket and Black Claw today, so you won't miss a thing.
11/02/2008
As long as I have some free time I might continue chain-preparing quick batches. Roll call:
- NEW ART. As with any batch, a handful of insets have been replaced a one or two new ones added (Silver Scarab, Nightshade, etc.). Also Crazy Eight's peekchur has been improved a bit.
- We haven't had much of a presence in the New Universe so far, so here comes Pufnstuff's entry for Antibody and his energy forms.
- WORG likes to demonstrate how minor characters that are often treated as being stupid or bland are actually quite interesting if one actually pays attention. As a further example of this, here is Peter's entry for Brother Voodoo, who's cool.
- DEATH-THROWS. A fair bit of space in this batch is taken by those guys - a semi-classic Marvel team of thugs with a gimmick and some talent. Beside, having your players attacked by criminal killer jugglers can't be bad. Roll call:
- Bombshell
- Knick-Knack
- Oddball (possibly I and II)
- Ringleader
- Tenpin
- A Marvel kind of fairly competent and dangerous demons - the Dykorrs, the Most Grotesque Demons In All The Cosmos !
- The missing LEXX entry from Peter - the villainous man-machine-insect Mantrid, destroyer of the universe
- A new Champions entry from REZcat - the classic Mechassassin, who's always handy to have
- An entry for minor Pittsburgh (and DCU) archer and dilettante vigilante Moonbow - I've always thought of her as a perfect beginner PC, but she's a good NPC too.
- Our profile for Marvel mega-villain Onslaught, which is probably going to see some traffic. Unsurprisingly, he's really really powerful.
- And finally we have another homebrewed character from Kal El - Slasher, usually working for Interpol members.
Current number of entries is 3813.
11/01/2008

- "Reasons" section deleted as requested by Gareth for White Tiger (Kasper Kole) since I clarified the Roman numerals for the various White Tigers

- Also based on the Marvel Atlas - Flambe now speaks French and has Connoisseur, Slayback is noted as being from Melbourne, Arachne speaks Spanish and is noted as being from Peru ; Voortrekker's country of origin and circumstances of arrival in Azania have been precised ; there are notes about Khumbala Bey's country of Halwann ; Andromeda's entry has a new ancestor and a quick note about Sharka/Skarka.

- Abra Kadabra, Cicada, Doubledown, The Folded Man, Girder, Murmur and Tar Pit have been tagged as Rogues as per Gareth's request.

A very eclectic batch from a wide variety of contributors, mostly with unusual characters. Roll call:
- NEW ART. Replacement (and occasionally) inset art is continuing to trickle in. And the following entries have new art:
- Bezoar (a homebrew now illustrated via some nice original 3D art by Bil)
- Blackout aka Copycat got some HeroMachine work by her creator
- Super-minor character Folio is now illustrated
- Weatherman I (Henry Bendix)
- Doc Savage
- Matt Parkman
- Equinox
- Death's Head I
- Devos
- Karolina Dean (Lucy in the Sky)
- Deathlok the Demolisher
- Darkhawk
- Capitan Furia, written by Capita_Senyera from Laberinto comics, was a Fascist 'hero' of the 1960s in Spain, with a dark secret.
- The two main characters from the Planet Terror movie in the Grindhouse Tarantino extravaganza have now found some sort of refuge on WORG thanks to Pur_see_i8's guidance ! Introducing Cherry Darling the go-go dancer (with the infamous machinegun leg) and El Wray the tough guy.
- One of the stars of this batch is Gareth's extensive and detailed profile of fan-favourite Peter David character the Fallen Angel. This profile includes a sub-article on the mystical town of Bete Noire and some hypotheses on how to bring the Angel back to the DCU.
- Man of Miracles is one of the original Rockworld characters by Chad - that is, based on Styx songs. Which also means Man of Miracles gets to be known as 'the guy who took seven years to get his entry published on WORG' - talk about bad luck.
- STORMWATCH PHD. In this batch we have Liam Mendoza, callsign Paris, the legendary badass Special Forces operative with an instinctive gift to find the best way to hurt and kill whatever needs killing.
- The other star of the batch is the acclaimed movie version of Tony Stark aka Iron Man as written up by Mike and Roy, with a nicely-illustrated writeup that has cool shots of the armours.
- Oculon is a classic and annoying Champion villain, brought to MEGS players by REZcat.
- It has been a long time since we had a 1963 writeup - so from the FF analogues of Mystery Incorporated... there's a Planet comin ' !
- STRIKEBACK. Now is the turn of Purity, the nice girl of the group.
- During the research on the three Razor-Fist mad killers, a collateral benefit was a writeup for a couple of spacey dilettantes - Razorfist and Spiral II ! (the Razormonkees were also done at that point)
- POWER COMPANY. Slowly continuing our entries on that group from Capita_Senyera (so I guess at least two of us found the series cool), here flies in Skyrocket, trying to be a big hero despite the vagaries of real life.
- Civafan2 contributed a detailed writeup of the larger-than life omni-expert and SAS man Taichi Hiraga-Keaton from the anime Master Keaton
Current number of entries is a neat, round 3800.
10/28/2008
A quick and art-heavy batch. I'm not entirely sure about the status of the inset images (that is, where in the world and on which browser they show), but there is a good chance we might just leapfrog to the next version of the site and solve the issue.
Roll call:
- NEW ART. The high quality of the printing and paper of the hardback Marvel sourcebook allows to do excellent illustrations very quickly, so here is a wave of those. Buy the hardback A-Z Marvel Handbooks ! They're really cool. New art (inset or column) for :
- Abomination
- Americop
- Amphibion
- Annihilus
- Arabian Knight I
- The three main BAD Girls
- Baron Zemo II
- Beyonder
- Big Wheel
- Black Knight (Dane Withman)
- Bullseye
- Bushwacker
- Captain Axis
- Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell)
- Carnage
- Carrion
- Cerise
- Cobra II
- Crossbones
- Cutthroat
- Cyber
- Diamondback I (Willis Stryker )
- Dracula (Marvel Universe)
- Diamond Lil
- Lester Girls is not a Marvel character, but his writeup (from the previous batch) is now illustrated (and may get a few more pictures later)
- Several Marvel characters have had the hardback OHOTMU illustration replacing the previous one - usually meaning it's the same illustration but with more definition and more intense colour.
- Cauldron is a very minor Marvel villain with cool visuals. Handy for GMs.
- To complement our old Remo the Destroyer writeup, here comes fellow secret agent Conrad McLeary, by Peter.
- REWRITES. This batch's rewrite is a complete overhaul of Amazing Grace, the subtle manipulator of Darkseid's Elite.
- Another set of quite low-powered mercenaries who look like extras from GI Joe - those can be very handy in street-level scenarios and for beginning characters. This batch has the member of Cannibal Catch - Fastback, Folio, Hardhat and Transom.
- Helter Skelter is a villain based on Charles Manson, from an old campaign ran by Pufnstuff.
- Hammer and Sickle - the previous, NON-CONTINUITY version of those entries (chiefly based on my campaign notes) have been by popular demand (that is, one person) reintegrated as an annex to the current writeup.
- STRIKEBACK. This Malibu series is not very well-known, so most people will discover it through Gareth's writeups. In this batch Rascal - and his scarf.
- We got more scarabs ! For instance, while they are not the best known Marvel characters, Chris wrote up two of the major Egyptian superhumans - the first and the second Scarlet Scarabs. They respectively fought the Invaders and Thor and more than held their own, you know.
- INFINITY INC. Another Scarab with Egyptian ties is Hector Hall - the Silver Scarab. This large rewrite of the official entry covers his whole career until his destruction by Dream of the Endless.
- And finally we have yet another Summers brother - Gabriel aka Vulcan, the powerful and insane mutant who came to rule over the Shi'Ar empire, written up by Gareth.
Current number of entries is 3787.

Here we go again, with a batch largely devoted to revision of published stuff since we can't let people read deprecated old stuff when better stuff has been written. And stuff. Also, the DNS of the ancillary domain should have properly propagated by now and people should be able to see the inset images. Hopefully.
Roll call (and note that there are many more major and semi-major characters this time around):
- NEW ART. A handful of new inset images of course, mostly replacements of lost content ; the pre-Crisis Huntress (Helena Wayne) got a new mugshot ; and the Conan (comic books) entry is now fully illustrated.
- The Gargoyles from the 13th Floor are the strange antagonists of a weird 1951 story (republished once in 1972) with Venus. It was... odd.
- Pufnstuff's entry for fan-favourite character Rogue (at the time of Xtreme X-Men) is finally in. Nuff said !
- AGENTS OF ATLAS. We have a number of elaborate entries for the Agents, which are now getting ready for publication. Gareth opens up with his entry for Ken Hale, the Gorilla-Man - the sardonic, immortal man in an ape's body. With guns.
- Lester Girls, the lead character of The Trouble With Girls, now has an entry thanks to Peter. He's what James Bond dreams of becoming !
- Since people kept asking for the old (ancient, in fact) Shadowcat entry, we have summarily cleaned up Kitty's entry and published it. It is *not* considered as a "real" writeup - it's more of a placeholder, really, but since people want it...
- REWRITES. That's one of the big things for this batch - and of course we will keep on rewritin' 'em. As usual everything is entirely rewritten, reassessed, reillustrated, etc. Roll call:
- Andromeda. A somewhat big writeup covering her career as a Defender, a Dragon Circle heroine and the Peacelord of Atlantis. Imperius Rex !!
- Ma Gunn, the undercover Fagin and schoolmarm of Gotham, has had her entry overhauled.
- Two of the People's Heroes (the Soviet super-group of the DCU in the 1980s) have been entirely redone - which is appropriate since the *characters* themselves have seen been rebuilt. Both Hammer and Sickle are in this batch. Marvel at how one-dimensional Reagan-era villains have become pretty scary, creepy modern cyberpsychos - and waaay more dangerous !
- The deadliest martial artist on DC's Earth is back - the writeup for Lady Shiva in the 1980s (in O'Neil's the Question and the Death in the Family Batman story) has been entirely redone and extensively covers what many consider to be the definitive version of that fan-favourite character.
- Our community includes several huge fans of the Question, and thus we have a new entry - a detailed look at the pre-Crisis, original version of the character, and chiefly his adventures written and drawn by comic books genius Steve Ditko. As bonuses, this big entry includes a special continuity/chronology section covering the Question's publication history, and a list of versions of the character.
- HEROES. As we continue discussing the series, here's Adam's entry for Matt Parkman, the cop who can hear thoughts.
- With a resolve as strong as Adamantium, Roy has dared to start tackling the terrifying Ultron ! Wish him luck ! In this batch, Ultron-5.
Pretty good lineup, eh ? And we even got in the same batch the villain in the first Jason Todd story and a character in the last Jason Todd story before Hush. Current number of entries is 3774.
10/20/2008
Another quick, short, sweet batch - the luck of the draw (and the use of 'black' as a keyword) giving it a oddly dark and strange theme.
The DNS issues are fixed, WORG silent partner Paul has scripted a few tools to make short batches easier to do (so they will remain the norm), and the work on the next version of the layout continues to advance at it usual glacial pace.
Roll call:
- NEW ART. The art for our old entry for the Shadow has been upgraded, because we know what evil lurks in the heart of men.
- We've got two more kung fu enforcers for the Golden Daggers sect in the "Fu Manchu-verse" - an entry for dagger fighters Bolo and Kimba.
- STORMWATCH PHD. This time it's Black Betty who gets to shine on WORG - the PHD's supernatural warfare specialist. Those are cool characters, really.
- A batch with Black Betty in it just have to also include Black Mariah - not the Harlem criminal already on WORG, but the witch and information broker of Bete Noire in Peter David's Fallen Angel.
- I would have love to follow up with Black Alice, but we haven't written her up yet. However, since WORG will neither give you up nor will it let you down, here is another Bete Noire citizen - Shadow Boxer, the Magistrate's enforcer.
- CHAMPIONS. More black, as this batch's Champions character adaptation is the Black Harlequin - the Championsverse rough equivalent of the Joker.
- And to finish with the black, Black Claw - a ninja foe in Pufnstuff's home campaign.
- The big guy in this batch is Conan ! This time Peter covers everybody's favourite barbarian in his comic books version, our previous writeup having been the novels version.
- Another product of Kal El's experiments years ago with his random character generator - Copycat.
- This batch also has two 1960s characters who clashed with Peter Cannon - Thunderbolt ! The Mummy is a mad archaeologist with his mind in a super-strong mummy conqueror, and Eric Gore is a mad scientist with a gorilla hand. Good times.
- More obscure stuff with the Razormonkees who are, well, costumed chimp soldiers with Wolverine-like claws. Really. Y'know, Nextwave stuff.
- Shadowoman aka Sepulcre is a minor Marvel heroine with a complex background, who had a cool comeback in the aftermath of Civil War.
- Last but not least, more material from the 1970s swords and sorcery DC books - the siren of swords and science, the first Starfire ! She's got a cutlass, she's got a laser pistol, and she's even got a companion writeup for Thump, her giant assistant. Everybody needs a giant assistant.
Current number of entries is 3766.
10/16/2008
Let's keep reducing the backlog. As it turns out, despite being fairly short, this small batch has quite a few character that are somewhat major, at least by our standards.
Please note that the DNS for an ancillary server, which has been behaving erratically, is being changed. Which means that the painfully-restored inset images have not been available for a while, including those in the new entries.
Anyway... Roll call:
- NEW ART. Mayflower's entry from last batch is now illustrated.
- This batch has a small team of obscure, low-powered mercenaries who feel a bit like GI Joe rejects - the Wanderers. For those GMs running 450 HPs campaigns. The team is composed of Billy, Chisel, Flintlock and Outback ; each has a separate entry.
- After Kylun, another popular early Excalibur character by Gareth - Cerise.
- STORMWATCH PHD. In this batch we have the field leader of the StormWatch PHD unit, Officer Doran.
- The Falcon is finally perched on WORG - and amazingly enough Gareth managed to fit his entire career into just one writeup.
- Another fairly high-profile entry is Mike and Roy's article on the big screen version of Ghost Rider - as played by Nicolas Cage.
- REWRITES. Two entries that had originally been done around 1997 have been re-researched, rewritten, restated, reillustrated, etc. - Jack Marshall aka Hacker (one of the premier CS guys in the DC Universe) and Lethal (of the early versions of Brigade in the Image proto-universe). Furthermore, Kal El has rewritten our Jareth the Goblin King (David Bowie in cult hit Labyrinth) entry. Further furthermore, Aristotle "Tot" Rodor's entry has been through a quick update to reflect the events of 52 - and this foreshadows a set of big entries about a popular character.
- Speaking of sets of big entries for popular characters... Rachel Summers is now in the house. As usual for heavyweight characters, Gareth has broken down the entry into three big writeups -- in chronological order, early Rachel (with the 1980s X-Men), Rachel as the Phoenix (chiefly with Excalibur) and Rachel as the time-displaced Marvel Girl.
- An obscure favourite from Pufnstuff - Powerpax, from an alternate Marvel continuity. She has the combined Power Pack... well, powers.
- Our old "generic Steven Seagal movie character from the XXth century" has been refreshed by Peter, and is now up (I think the very first version one on the very first iteration of our online database).
Current number of entries is 3752.
09/30/2008
I'm continuing with smaller batches to ensure a greater frequency. Roll call:
- CRAWLIN' FROM THE WRECKAGE. Inset images continue being slowly added as we explore our individual archives or redo images - a bit more than 240 pics are now online, including some new stuff.
- NEW ART. Extra art for Crazy Quilt, Stature, the Elements of Doom and Manhunter (Kirk DePaul)
- A new member of DC's Force of July is up - Mayflower. Small tweaks have also been done to her colleagues Silent Majority and Major Victory.
- Chankar is a giant martial artist henchman from old Master of Kung Fu stories. Obviously, he had to be on WORG.
- STORMWATCH PHD. After the update for Fahrenheit a while ago, we will now start covering most team members. The first turns out to be Dino Manolis, formerly known as the Machinist.
- Gareth brought us an obscure yet popular early Excalibur character - Kylun.
- COMMITTEE. We have a number of very minor thugs, heavies and hitmen from this obscure criminal operation in the Marvel Universe. The first is Ma Mayhem, a weird operative who kills supernatural monsters for a living.
- INFINITY, INC. We have started thoroughly revisiting the official writeups for some Infinity, inc. members, resulting in a series of large writeups. in this batch.
- Two big entries for Nuklon - one for the 1980s and one for the 1990s. Note that no Atom-Smasher writeup can be scheduled anytime soon.
- Two big and somewhat complicated entries for Hippolyta Hall aka the Fury, covering the entirety of her career.
- Our first foray into the (long since deceased) Defiant universe is done with a key character - Charlemagne.
- Following up on the Darna writeup, another Filipina comic book character - China the serpent queen.
- REWRITES. Roy has revisited the stats blocks of his Batman (Burton take) writeup to tweak and better explain all sorts of things. All illustrations have also been rebuilt.
Current number of entries is 3739.
09/21/2008
It ain't easy after the crash and it took some time, but the show must go on. Roll call:
- CRAWLIN' FROM THE WRECKAGE. More than a hundred and fifty inset images have been uploaded (some new). Of course it's but a small portion of what used to be there, but it takes a while to work on.
- NEW ART. Not the priority right now, of course - but the Ned Slade entry nevertheless is now fully illustrated. Starhawk and Mirror Master III also got an extra picture.
- Impala's profile has now been uploaded as a follow-up to the Asp and Black Mamba revision - she's the least known of the BAD Girls
- A classic pre-Crisis Superman villain is now in the (big) house - the Master Jailer, as written up by Peter
- The Masters are the alien invaders featured in the Tripods Quadrology by John Christopher. The amount of information in this entry from Roy seems to confirm we like aliens in tripods.
- REWRITES. This is the big thing, since this type of content has priority compared to the rest of the backlog. Almost all of this stuff has been entirely rewritten, re-researched, enriched, re-illustrated, etc. - if you are interested in the characters and read the old writeup, you definitely want the check the new versions out.
- Batroc the Leaper - younger readers may only have known him as a minor loser, but he's actually a fairly rich and interesting character. This entry is very detailed and covers 40+ years of high-kickin', long-jumpin' action.
- John Butcher - this is a rewrite of a Mayfair entry rather than a rewrite of a WORG entry. Butcher is an ex-military intelligence commando, a martial artist, a traditional Lakota warrior and was a minor badass in the 1990s DC Universe, with ties to Green Arrow.
- Cardiac - another 1990s character, a morally dubious urban vigilante with a focus on white collar crime and nearly operating at Spider-Man's level. He's quite interesting for urban heroes campaigns.
- Cheetah - a minor villain from Mexico in the 1970s at Marvel. He's actually quite dangerous, and is good in the role of the random costume to throw at your players.
- Crazy Quilt has a long but very minor and irregular career as a street-level DC villain. This entry details his full career, which starts right after WWII.
- Diamondback II (Rachel Leighton) now has two quite large and detailed entries - in fact those were the reason for the rewrite of the BAD Girls in the last batch. Thief, crimefighter, murderer, street urchin, Avenger support personnel, mercenary, girlfriend of a living legend... Rachel was a fan favourite of Captain America readers fifteen years ago.
- The Needle, the weird psycho with a giant needle and an evil eye who fought Spider-Woman and was a Night Shift member.
- My pretty poor entry for Razor-Fist II is gone, and has been replaced by three entries for Razor-Fist I, Razor-Fist II (the 'main' one) and Razor-Fist III. All three are now classic 'weird kung-fu villains' and Razor-Fist II, who has appeared quite a lot and received some unique character development, now gets a pretty thorough entry.
- As a collateral benefit from the work on the BAD Girls their ally Sidewinder - the former director of the Serpent Society - has been fully revised. Like with Diamondback II, the v1 of his writeup was so terrible it wasn't published on the current version of WORG.
- The last rewrite in this batch is Ultimus aka the Demon Druid - a minor mysterious powerhouse who was, decades after his first appearance as a Thor opponent, revealed to be a Kree Eternal and came to lead Starforce.
- To accompany Batroc's rewritten entry we also have a short entry for Diable, an extradimensional monster who briefly was a follower of Batroc.
- A considerably more modern character - Korvus the Shi'Ar fighter and X-Men ally, by Gareth.
- More 1990s characters with the Masters of Silence - three super-Yakuza bringers of vengeance with special armour and weapons and some divine inspiration. They're interesting.
Current number of entries is 3727.
08/10/2008
Another half-sized batch, though hopefully I'm about to get some more free time. Further volunteers willing to detour small batches of images (say, 3 or 4) are still welcome, of course. Roll call:
- REWRITES. This is the big thing, since this type of content has priority compared to the rest of the backlog. Almost all of this stuff has been entirely rewritten, re-researched, enriched, re-illustrated, etc. - if you are interested in the characters and read the old writeup, you definitely want the check the new versions out.
- Anaconda, of the Serpent Society
- Asp II, of the Serpent Society
- Black Mamba, of the Serpent Society (are we sensing a theme here yet ?)
- Android Man, and early (Mad) Thinker creation
- The Chainsaw Warrior, from a now-forgotten 1980s Games Workshop boardgame
- Tom Devoe, George Clooney's character in The Peacemaker.
- Dr. Julia Kelly, Nicole Kidman's character in The Peacemaker
- Two writeups of the Exiles (the Ultraverse, 1993 ones) had been forgotten in the backlog about... seven years ago, I think. Those short entries are now in - Dr. Deming (no, not that one) and Trax.
- We also got further easy-to-use villains from Stormwatch PHD, last year's StormWatch LS. Those are:
- Pagliacci, a superhumanly agile sadistic swordsman
- Slaughterhouse Smith, a vintage superhuman mobster boss with potential
- And finally Manhunter VIII - the one who was with the Power Company. More peekchurs needed for that one - thanks.
That's not much, but the Serpent Society ladies are popular villain types with huge entries, so that should keep you guys occupied. Current number of entries is 3715, since the point was not to boost it. :-)
There are, however, fairly bad news too - a catastrophic HD crash and back-up system failure have irremediably destroyed the large amount of in-text illustrations included in many of the most recent entries (not the usual right-hand column illustration bar, but the banner illos and splash pages amidst the text). This is a Rather Bad Thing, and we are currently pondering how to start rebuilding this stuff - especially in loooong writeups, to provide nice-looking and illustrative breathers for the readers. This sort of incident can be bad for the morale of the volunteer contributors, and I hope it does not has poor consequences beyond the losses. Remember people - back everything up *twice*, not once.
06/30/2008
Mostly lil' details from our "are you guys some sorts of maniacs ?"
folders - not new entries.
- NEW ART: For the following characters:
- Alchemiss
- Beast (early X-Men)
- Colossus (Piotr Rasputin)
- Defender (Champions conversion)
- El Diablo (Freedom Force)
- Foxbat (Champions conversion)
- Iron Man armour (Golden Avenger version)
- Grond (Champions conversion)
- Iron Man armour (Mk1 version)
- Man-Bot (Freedom Force)
- Firebat (Starcraft unit)
- Mentor (Freedom Force)
- Iron Man armour (Silver Centurion version)
- Marine (Starcraft unit)
- Aquaman (DC)
- Minuteman (Freedom Force)
- A handful of illos have been very slightly improved
- LIL' FIXES:
- The Elements of Doom fixes are now online
- Recent Marvel books have had a few more real names revealed. The
Background section for a few entries has thus been enriched - Gremlin
III, Silencer II, Knockabout, Psi-Borg II, Ivory.
And that does help cleaning up my work folder, too.
06/21/2008
My writeups.org time has gone from feast to famine, so here is a size S batch that includes everything me and Adam have finished - because the Spice must flow ! Note that further volunteers willing to detour small batches of images (say, 3 or 4) are, like, totally welcome. Half-sized roll call:
- ART. REZcat provided new art for two Champions characters:
- The three main characters of Project A-ko are now online, thanks to Pufnstuff - B-Ko (Biko Daitokuji) and A-Ko. And yes, that's three since C-ko (Shiiko Kotobuki) gets her own section in A-Ko's entry.
- We also have a few minor villains from the StormWatch - PHD miniseries ; those guys got an a nice, generic feel and can be used as-is in a majority of campaigns. In this batch:
- Amadeus, a Sonic Beam villain
- Cooler, a Ice Production villain
- After a lot of conversation we now have a writeup for Beck - Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson's character in the movie The Rundown. We had two choices, you see - Option A and Option B.
- Marvel's second Cobra, who appeared in the most recent White Tiger miniseries.
- More Champions characters as adapted by REZcat. In this batch:
- Black Paladin, the very evil knight
- Defender, the heroic version of Iron Man
- Red Rapier, the evil swashbuckler
- Ripper, a brick
- A long-awaited writeup that went through strange peregrinations - Captain Marvel I (Mar-Vell), by Pufnstuff
- UPDATES AND REWRITES. Tons of those are incoming, but I could only cram one in for this batch. But it's a big one, and a classic Marvel villain too - we have a huge and thoroughly rewritten entry for Doctor Faustus !
- Roy is continuing to write the Force of July, which involves reading some really dismal material so you guys don't have to. In this batch, we have Silent Majority.
- Furthermore, various fixes have been done which had been inexplicably missed before - for Marvel Boy (Noh-Varr), Photon (the one in Force) and Rocket Racer. Fixes for
Deadly Nightshade and the Elements of Doom will also be done soon-ish if all goes well.
Current number of entries is 3710. Yay !
06/07/2008
Fixed a number of issues signaled by the doughty members of the WORG Patrol:
- The real names of all Supremacists have been added (those were
revealed in the second volume of the Marvel Atlas)
- Typo corrected in Eagle quote, Frank added as helper
- Ultimus has not been fixed despite Chris's excellent remark,
because... I'm not sure what I intended to do. He will be v2ed shortly
(Ultimus, not Chris).
- Commander B. Crusher's erroneous Subskill fixed, KalEl added as helper
- Cyborg's location is now Jump City and not 'the city'
- Firestorm I (Raymond/Stein version) - typo fixed, energy blasts
clarified, KalEl ands Eric added as helpers
- Clarified a bit in the Corruptor's history, Chris added as a helper
- Typo fixed in the description of Harry Leland's powers, Ethan added
as helper
- Storm is now small-m married, has the Connections discussed in late
2007, Eric and Michael added as helpers, and I've fixed her list of
Known Relatives.
- I haven't acted yet on Capita_Senyera's good points about Marrina
and heather Hudson - since the entirety of AF has to be rewritten (I
think AF were the very first writeups I published on the list around
1995). Can't put them on my dance card right now, though.
- Chroma's shapeshifting has been clarified ; KalEl added as helper
- Mad Peter Quick's van fixed. Good thing KalEl is fast !
- Capita_Senyera added to the Helpers list for Mirage (Valkyrie period)
- Count Nefaria's MPI corrected, Azrael added as a helper
- First fixes added to Darkstar, Pufnstuff and Capita_Senyera as helpers
Thanks to the community for bringing up those points.
05/27/2008
An interesting batch, as it turns out - I'd be surprised if there are
many people who cannot find therein at least two or three characters
of use for their campaign. Roll call:
- ART. The new art for this batch is art for recent entries that
went without illustrations for a few days due to the pace of the
batches:
- Cartessian
- Claw the Unconquered
- Johnny Redbeard I and II
- A new Pre-Crisis Legion of Super-Heroes entry by Chris ! Of
course, Animal Lad doesn't exactly have earth-shuddering star power,
but he's far from alone in that respect on WORG, and it's a neat entry.
- 1963. From this great retro series of comic, this time we
have the key characters from the Fury faux 1960s comic book:
- The Fury himself, of course, a sort of Spider-Man/Daredevil guy
- Voidoid, one of the main guys on his imaginary villains gallery
- Warbeast, the intelligent telepathic mutant killer tyrannosaur
who killed the dinosaurs
- A new instalment in the cold war that is writing up the second
Black Widow (Natalia Alianovna Romanova). You thought it would never
actually come, right ? In this batch you'll find her entry from the
1980s, starting when the previous writeup ended and ending when she
joins the Avengers full time.
- LARSENVERSE. Even more minor and somewhat weird villains from
Peter's research ! Hurray ! Roll call:
- Bodycount, a literal gunman
- Chaos and Control, an odd pair of villainous freaks
- Technically, the huge entry for the Gremlin III (son of the
Gargoyle, fought Hulk, worked with Rom the Spaceknight and the Soviet
Super Soldiers) is a rewrite since there used to be a version on the
first generation of our online archives, but since few people alive
read the v1... Anyway, he's a very interesting outcast genius boy, so
geeks love him.
- Along with the Gremlin comes his pet, the aptly-named Droog. What
could be better than a giant orange mutant triceratops who talks in
rhymes and is about as strong as the Hulk ? 'Nothing", would say the
Gremlin, and that's why he created Droog to be his pet.
- UPDATES AND REWRITES. In this batch:
- I've added further material to the Black Widow - the KGB years
writeup since I realised that I had forgotten to include the semi-
recent flashback about the weeks she shared with the Winter Soldier
('Bucky' Barnes) during her time with the Red Room. Then I made
further clarifications to the History section of the writeup as I
realised the previous changes made the chronology confusing. Then I
had to add some material to Ivan Petrovitch's writeup, since the
retcons make his role in raising Natalia... complicated. Sigh. :-)
- Small changes have been made to the Fer-de-Lance writeup, our
famous Animals File, and the entry for Bonk (of the Jokerz)
- Blastaar has been entirely rewritten and now gets a mammoth
writeup... FOR POWER IS BLASTAAR !! A quite powerful and entertaining
villain, he was worth re-researching. Now all we need is to publicise
our initiative for the "Talk Like Blastaar Day"... FOR THE UNMATCHED
POWER OF BLASTAAR CAN LEVEL MOUNTAINS WITH BUT A GESTURE !
- Steeplejack I has been entirely rewritten
- Steeplejack II has been entirely rewritten, for our mission is
to rewrite steeplejacks. Entirely.
- From a classic Belgian adventure comics of the 1970s (people seem
to like this stuff) - the Human Ants from the Sixth Continent. *I*
think it's cool.
- BLACK LAGOON. This batch has two entries instead of the
usual one:
- Roberta the maid
- Rotton the Wizard
- Kirigi, the supernatural giant killer ninja from the classic
Daredevil era by Miller, simply had to be on WORG - it is now
done. Shi kin hara mitsu dai ko myo, as I always say.
- HEROES. Two more entries for key characters have been
deemed finished for now:
- Hiro Nakamura
- Peter Petrelli
- Djinn, a PC from Kal El's Global Guardians campaign
- Her come the rest of the Jokerz street gang, as written up by Tom
and found in the Batman Beyond animation series. Now you've got
the full set, with:
- Chucko
- The Dee Dee twins (twinz ?)
- Woof
- Starblaze, a PC from Kal El's Patrulla Barna campaign
Current number of entries is 3698. Maybe I should have done two more !
05/12/2008
More random stuff. As it turns out, there is a high proportion of characters that strike me as being useful in many many campaigns for GMs. In other terms, a bunch of obscure villains you can use pretty much anywhere, and of characters who come with a built-in adventure scenario.
Also, there is a ton of new art. Wasn't easy.
Roll call:
- ART. New art (both banner art and/or column art) for the following guys ; also see the updates and rewrites, since those always come with new art.
- Inque (from Batman Beyond)
- Garbo
- Hawkeye (again)
- Loki
- Mace (Larsenverse - the former Young Tough)
- Mack the Knife
- Punisher II (Frank Castle)
- Rick Jones
- Scarlet Witch
- Silver Surfer
- Stupor
- War Machine
- Daredevil
- Doctor Octopus
- Green Goblin I (Normal Osborne)
- Human Torch II (Johnny Storm)
- Lizard
- Marvel Boy VI
- Mysterio I
- Rhino
- Spider-Man
- The Thing (Ben's Classic and Modern writeups)
- Venom I
- Vulture I
- Blade (movie version)
- Bullseye
- Captain Marvel (DC's mightiest mortal)
- Catwoman
- Captain Marvel Jr. (CM3)
- Cosmic Boy (pre-Crisis entry)
- Deathlok III
- Doctor Strange
- Frog-Man II (sorry)
- Ghost Rider I (current)
- Ant-Man I / Giant-Man I (early)
- Green Arrow (Oliver Queen)
- Grifter
- Hawkman (Kingdom Come version)
- Hyperion
- Iron Man (grey/golden armour)
- Johnny Thunder I
- Joker (Tangent continuity)
- Martian Manhunter
- Motorhead
- Shang-Chi
- Starman VII
- Supergirl (1980s)
- Superwoman (Wells)
- John Law (formerly the Tarantula II)
- Thunderbolt (Peter Cannon)
- Ultra-Boy (post-reboot entry)
- USAgent
- The Vortex
- Here come all the Marvel characters named Atom-Smasher - Atom-Smasher I is an obscure 1970s opponent of the Black Goliath, Atom-Smasher II is his brother and had henchmen with Robotron mechas (yay !), and Atom-Smasher III is an unrelated but powerful anti-nuclear activist and terrorist from the 1990s.
- It's been a long time since the last one - so here comes Cartessian, another character generated to test Kal El el Vigilante's random character generator
- One Black Lagoon writeup by Tom per batch is apparently the standard ; this time it's deadly yakuza swordsman Ginji Matsuzaki.
- Some batches also have one weird 1940s character - this one is Terdu, perhaps best known (well, relatively speaking) for being the boss of the very first Masters of Evil in what will become the Marvel Universe
- LARSENVERSE. Continuing Peter's arc, this time we got :
- Arachnid - a minor villain
- Johnny Redbeard I and II - empowerers of minor villains !
- Rudehead who is (you'll never guess !) a minor villain
- As you may have noticed we like old, oddball characters so here comes Peter's article on one of those half-forgotten comic book barbarian warriors from an improbable heroic-fantasy world - Claw the Unconquered.
- Doctor Stein is part of our Rockworld series of home-made characters based on song titles and lyrics.
- John Coffey is part of Pufnstuff's work on the Stephen King Universe ; he's of course from The Green Mile.
- UPDATES AND REWRITES. We're still making the old and poor-quality stuff on WORG better - we've been at it for more than 12 years and some of the earliest material cannot match our current standards.
- The recent White Tiger (Del Toro) entry, which the author felt was confusing in places, has been clarified by Roy.
- Bushwacker has received a very thorough and extensive rewriting. This complex villain is a former priest, a former CIA agent, a hitman, a seducer, an homicidal maniac... and he's also a living gun. But he can also be used as just another street-level thug, though it's a waste, IMO.
- Cottonmouth II, of the Serpent Society, is a much simpler villain but he has nevertheless been entirely redone since the old entry was unremarkable at best.
- All of the members of the second S.H.I.E.L.D. Super-Agents (the ones from the 1990s) have been rewritten in a more accurate and engaging fashion ; this means:
- Psi-Borg II
- Violence
- Knockabout
- The last member, Ivory, is also there (though it's a brand-new entry and not a rewrite), completing the team
- Completing our existing Battlestar Galactica (the newer series) material by Mike, here comes the entry for generic Cylon centurions
- It has been a very long time since we've written something from the nigh-forgotten Milestone Universe (we like it, but who else even remembers about it ?) - so here comes very minor but tactically interesting villain Reprise. He's everywhere !
- Saboteur, a very minor but fairly useful Marvel Universe industrial... well, saboteur.
- Vulcan III, a semi-weird 1970s Marvel villain, also from the Black Goliath series, who can be easily expanded upon if you are looking for a baddie to personalise for your campaign
- PLANET DC. The end of the arc for now (the remaining character will likely be done later, especially Bushido), with:
- Cachiru, an obscure bird-themed Argentine super-hero
- Salamanca, an obscure Argentine sorceress and super-heroine (she and Cachiru are the only members of the Argentine group Super-Malon we know more than a few shreds of info about)
- Istar is the best-developed planet DC character - with a JLA minseries revolving around her adventures. She's fairly interesting, and she's from Tunisia.
- Another character character from Kal Els current campaign set in Barcelona - Sagrado (the Sacred One)
Current number of entries is 3677.
05/03/2008
More stuff, and this time around there are even some names people will recognise. Roll call:
- ART. New hi-res art for the following entries:
- Black Widow I and Rockman (see "updates and rewrites" below)
- Ivan Petrovitch Bezukov (see "updates and rewrites" below)
- Moonstar (the writeup covering her Psyche era)
- Ms. Marvel II (Sharon Ventura) (the early/first writeup)
- Princess Python
- Sunspot (classic era)
- Anna Wei, a Stark employee who is also a formidable hacker, engineer and Beautiful Kung Fu Chick(tm)
- Atlas, an obscure heroic fantasy character created by Jack Kirby
- The Confessor, a highly competent Russian assassin in the Marvel Universe
- A classic 1960s character by PAM - Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt !
- CHAMPIONS CHARACTERS. We now start our arc of Champions characters, adapted from the various editions of that landmark super-heroes RPG by REZcat. In this batch:
- Buffalo
- Demonfire
- Green Dragon
- Ogre
- Rainbow Archer
- The Eagle, a patriotic crimebuster and war hero from the McCarthy era of the WildStorm Universe
- An adaptation of real-life Spanish double agent 'Garbo', by Kal El
- One of the big guns of the Marvel Universe -- the High Evolutionary, by Peter
- *Another* of the Marvel big guns by Peter -- Loki, God of Evil !
- UPDATES AND REWRITES. It has been a few batches without those, so:
- The Danny Phantom writeup has been through a lot of additional work from the original author ; the results are now online
- Black Widow II - the three writeups for Natasha on WORG have now been updated based on information in the two 2004-2005 Black Widow limited series. This chiefly means data about the whole Black Widow program, her childhood and teenage years, and the source of her Slowed Aging and other enhancements she never knew she had before then. There also have been minor changes as the fourth writeup in that series is being written
- The writeup for Ivan Petrovitch has been slightly updated.
- The crappy notes for Gladiatrix have now been replaced by a real writeup
- The writeups for the first Black Widow and Rockman have received clarification notes, as well as illustrations, regarding the newer version of those characters in The Twelve
- One of Hal Jordan's girlfriends from way back then, the Gypsy psychic Kari Limbo
- Another character inspired by a song - Mack the Knife, by Kal El
- Yet another obscure 1940s Marvel/Timely universe -- the Master Mind, Excello ! With clarifications and illustrations re: The Twelve miniseries.
- GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY UNIVERSE. Final entries in Gareth's arc about that sub-universe within the Marvel Universe. If you just read 'em it's sad because it's over, but it you use 'em it's good because you finally have everyone !
- Rancor
- Sidestep, lieutenant to Rancor
- Talon, of the Guardian of the Galaxy
- Joining our slowly-growing collection of combat robots, the redoubtable Mechagorgon, who once defeated Iron Fist
- Slowly continuing Tom's Black Lagoon arc - Sawyer the cleaner, a mute girl with a chainsaw.
- And finally, in the Marvel universe, here are Unicorn I and II. The first is a classic and tragic Iron Man villain, whose instability and complex alarums led to a rather big and detailed writeup ; the second is the far more obscure mutated madman who has been part of the Remont IV and Thunderbolts Army super-groups but wears the costume of the first Unicorn.
Current number of entries is 3657.
04/25/2008
In a savage burst of randomness, a new batch arises ! And this time the pattern created by said randomness seems to be very minor/obscure villains. Which make sense, since we love those and they are arguably the most useful type of entry for GMs - they are ready do use !
So, after waaay too much time spent on Photoshop (again) - roll call:
- ART. New hi-res art for the following entries:
- Dr. Henry Pym (his Ant-Man I / Giant-Man I entry)
- Black Knight V (Dane Withman)
- Black Panther (T'Challa)
- Roy's entry on Captain America's gear ; the same illustrations also made it into Cap's main writeup
- Darkhawk (early)
- Dart (Larsenverse)
- Forgotten One (aka Gilgamesh)
- Captain Marvel III (Genis-Vell)
- Grasshopper (Great Lakes Whatever)
- Hawkeye I (Clint Barton)
- Monstroid
- Moon Knight
- Proctor
- Rage
- Red Wolf (Will Talltrees)
- Sandman (Marvel Universe)
- Valentina (Darna's nemesis)
- Wonder Man (classic writeup) ; the same illustration also made it into the main Beast (X-Men) writeup
- Baron Zemo II / Citizen V
- A second dragon from Kal El's campaign - Akalandrazor
- While the Worgmeister loathes the 2006 version of Heroes for Hire, he wrote up a minor villain from that book - Insecticide
- Tejja the Silek Killer, possibly the first League of Assassins killer seen in the DC Universe ; he's of course an exotic martial arts specialist
- I also reviewed the characters and critters named 'Monstro' in the Marvel Universe. The two that emerged as writeup material are:
- Monstro III, a very giant octopus from an old Cold War story (Monstro was written up shortly after the release of Cloverfield, amusingly)
- Monstro V, a contemporary strongman on the run, and incidentally an interesting character
- The first excerpt from our Voltron (a 1980s giant robot cartoon) work by Pur_see_i8 - Lance, the pilot of the red lion robot
- Civafan was kind enough to write up Smooth Criminal, Michael Jackson's character in the extensive music video for that tune, following a request
- Tigress III, formerly known as Artemis II, of the DC Universe's Injustice Society and Injustice Unlimited. She's the daughter of the second Tigress and the first Sportsmaster, and she turned out to be more interesting that anticipated before the research took place.
- More adventures in the realm of the foreign heroes features in the Planet DC annuals of 2000:
- The third of the three DCU Mexican super-heroes we found in the DCU so far - Acrata
- A Greek/Armenian super-assassin, who is both an ally and a foe for the JSA - the second Nemesis
- The country of origin is now also indicated in the Notes field of the Planet DC (since that was the point of those Annuals)
- The Secbots who clashed with the X-Men within the Strategic Air Command's base are lighter versions of the Mandroid power armour, and are excellent for GMs who want thugs or soldiers in light power armour
- Another 'tough mook' writeup - the Shaolin Terror Priests, from the pages of the popular series Immortal Iron Fist, are cool-looking kung fu goons
- LARSENVERSE. Continuing Peter's varied arc through the work of Erik Larsen, we got:
- Abner Cadaver, the evil zombie sorcerer supreme of the Larsenverse
- A minor villain, Bad Axe
- A minor (and rather faecal) villain, Dung
- A minor (but very dangerous !) villain, Negate
- A minor villain... ah, no, it's over, wait for the next batch ! :-)
- Another character from Tom's arc through the Black Lagoon manga and anime - the Russian mobster Balalaika
- From a minor DC limited series, a cool pistolera and desperada from northern Mexico - the bounty hunter Cinnamon II, patterning herself after the Old West lady avenger
- I've found an unpublished article for our 'wrestlingverse' writeups - about the Hart Dungeon
- GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY UNIVERSE. More of Gareth's work. This should be the next to last pack of writeups in that arc. Roll call:
- Composite, from Inhuman Assassination Squad (turns out I had forgotten a few of them -- ooops). He has the powers of the entire XXth century Royal Inhuman Family !
- Wormhole, a colleague of Composite
- Martinex, one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy
- Rhodney, one of Rancor's mutant lieutenants
- Shaddo, a colleague of Rhodney
- Another of Chris's writeup about the Pre-Reboot (and usually Pre-Crisis) universe of the Legion of Super-Heroes - this time minor Legionnaire trainee Lamprey
Current number of entries is 3633.
04/23/2008
Incredibly small batch ! Those are entirely small changes and addition in the Background blocks - exciting stuff such as real names and corrections to heights and weights ! All are based on the Civil War Companion TPB, so they only concern Marvel Universe characters. Also, I usually average height and weight when we produced an estimate before Marvel did - which should be more accurate.
Roll call: Smiling Tiger, Pretty Persuasions, Gladiatrix, Equinox, Ghostmaker, Lightbright, Shockwave, Blistik, Brother Nature, Exterminatrix, Lazarus, Man-eater.
04/17/2008
I had a lil' bit of free time, so here we go. Due to the effect of
randomness it's full of really obscure and occasionally weird
characters, except for the cartoon version of Robin and (much more
tentatively) Joystick and Starhawk. Roll call of the unexpected:
- ART. New artwork has been added to the following entries:
- Iron Man (grey armour)
- Bane (with a very nice new shot)
- Meglaro (the obscure LSH villain)
- Black Cat (the 'middle' writeup - Black Cat (Superpowered)
- Rick Jones
- Drom the Backward Man
- Ruby Thursday (she's cool)
- Mirage I, the Spider-Man villain who's both obscure and ubiquitous !
- Sif
- Rocket Racer
- Thor
- Shado (the archer lady)
- Wonder Man (the 'current' writeup)
- Spider-Man
- Jackdaw II (aka Blackbird)
- Al Bundy from Married With Children. Yep. Not a joke, not
a dream, not an imaginary story.
- Gwangi, a dinosaur who fights cowboys in a 1960s movie. No, really.
- Joystick, a memorable and risk-craving Thunderbolts member
- SUPERNOVA. Two more characters from Kal El's campaign:
- One Marvel Russian I forgot last time, which is odd since he's a
key figure -- the electrical engineering genius Anton Vanko, also
known as the first Crimson Dynamo.
- Two obscure superhuman agent/thug - Assault and Battery.
- A C-list WildStorm Jamaican thug and enforcer, Johnny Too Bad
- From time to time I do a 1940s character ; in this batch it is
the first Marvel Boy
- HEAVY METTLE. This is an obscure group of enforcers, and fairly
low-powered, so they can be fairly useful in many campaigns. The whole
team is here:
- Barracuda
- Blackwing
- Firestrike
- Riot
- Stronghold
- Warbow
- A really tough zombie with a big badass magic bone sword - what's
not to love ? Cadaver, from the Secret Defenders in the 90s at Marvel.
- Deliverance Drue, an obscure Solomon Kane analogue from the
WildStorm Universe
- GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY UNIVERSE. Continuing Gareth's big arc,
which is full of characters that could be useful anywhere:
- Bubonicus, a big bad
- Mindscan, one of Rancor's lieutenant
- Protege, the super-powerful godling from the Universal Church of
Truth
- Ripjak, the Last Son or Mars
- Starhawk, the most powerful Guardian
- Stupor, the missing Inhuman Assassination Squad operative
- The animated version of Robin, by Pufnstuff
- Another Black Lagoon character - Claude 'Torch' Weaver
- Finally, Adam wrote up Darna's nemesis - Valentina the Serpent Queen
Current number of entries is 3608.
04/13/2008
Be merry and find joy in even the dreariest of travails, for the new
batch is arrived !
As usual this batch took longer than I thought to prepare - the
overall quality level of the list's work keeps improving and that
means more, longer and more detailed texts, more reviewing, more
illustrations, a lot more banner illustrations, crisper detouring of
the main illustrations, etc. In short, more work. :-)
Roll call:
- ART. New artwork has been added to the following entries:
- Aleta (Guardians of the Galaxy)
- Charlie-27
- Hawkeye
- Powerhouse (Larsenverse)
- The Red Skull
- UPDATES: Only one update this time around - Fahrenheit (Wildstorm
Universe) got reviewed and updated to reflect the events of the
StormWatch PHD miniseries, further extending an already extensive
writeup.
- Agent 47, the protagonist of the Hitman video games, now
has a very detailed entry by Roy
- Another character from Tom's writeups arc on the Black Lagoon anime is in - Benny, the hacker.
- MARVEL RUSSIANS. For some reason I forget, there was an arc about
a few minor Russian (or at least ex-Soviet) characters in the Marvel
Universe. In this batch:
- Concussion, an energy-projecting mutant freedom fighter from
Garnoff's underground
- Firefox, a deadly and cybernetically armed one-man commando and
mutant killer, now a merc
- Iron Curtain, a superhumanly strong and tough colleague of
Concussion
- An intriguing figure from the Garnoff underground (and now the
Winter Guard) - Sibercat (formerly Siberian Tiger)
- Another interesting survivor from the Garnoff rairoad - Stencil
- Peter wrote up another post-apocalyptic character - this time it
is Hombre, from the Segura and Ortiz comic book.
- Another entry from the New Frontier version of the DC Universe
(the previous ones being the notes in the Cold War Suicide Squad
entries) - 'John Henry', the hammer-wieldin' man who clashed with the
Klu Klux Klan in Tennessee.
- Two more entries from Peter's arc through the Larsenverse, this
time with two major characters:
- We did it ! Well, Gareth did it. The Marvel Universe's ELEMENTS
OF DOOM are now online. Don't worry, we did not make 109 entries -
just one mammoth entry with all of 'em. That took a lot of work to
write, research, review, edit, illustrate, etc. so go ahead and use
them in your campaign... but probably not all of them at once, though.
- We've got three more of the popular pre-Crisis Legion of Super-
Heroes entries from Chris in this batch:
- Meglaro, a very obscure XXXth century villain
- Mentalla, a very minor but somewhat popular Legionnaire
- Tellus, also a minor but popular Legionnaire with mental powers
- One of the chronological entries Puf wrote on Mirage (Danielle
Moonstar) is now online ; this entry covers Danny as an Asgardian
valkyrie.
- The most recent Marvel character named White Tiger - Angela
DelToro. She's cool.
- GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY UNIVERSE. Another random grab from our
files:
- Malevolence (a descendent of the Mephisto)
- Phobia (from the Inhuman Assassination Squad)
- Replica, the Skrull member of the Guardians of the Galaxy
- Vance Astro, leader of the Guardians
- Yondu, a mainstay of the Guardians
- The Spirit of Vengeance - the Ghost Rider of that era
- And finally - although I did not have time to rewrite the entry
for Zaran, here is a full entry for Zaran II (Zhou Man She), pretty
useful when you need some real tough kung fu muscle.
Current number of entries is 3582.
03/30/2008
There are three main themes to this bigger-than-planned batch - new

cleaned up and improved
- Bonk, Ghoul and Terminal from the Jokerz (a Batman Beyond gang)
have been cleaned up and improved

overhauled after a full re-research and rewrite (they got plenty of
new art too)
- American Eagle (incorporating his Thunderbolts appearance)
- Armadillo (incorporating his Modok's Eleven appearance)
- Blizzard I (with detailed stats for all abilities)
- Janissary

illustrations)

- Slaymaster (now split in two full writeups - 70s Slaymaster and
80s Slaymaster)

- Blaster (one of Rancor's mutant lieutenants)

- SOME RANDOM STUFF:
- Doctor Midas, the foe of the Kree Marvel Boy
- Doctor Kurrarkill, an old and obscure Iron Man foe
- Iman, a Mexican Iron Man type in the DC Universe
- The Tri-Man, an old and obscure Daredevil foe
Current number of entries is 3558, since those were chiefly changes to
existing entries.
01/17/2008
Here we go again. Roll call:
- ART. Four recent entries just got illustrations:
- Cyberface (placeholder peekchur replaced by the real deal, plus
a banner peekchur)
- Greenback Jane
- Green Lantern Beyond
- Imagine (homemade character)
- REWRITES. Two of 'em, more or less:
- The rewrite for this batch is the Flying Tiger, a convenient and
somewhat obscure Marvel villain
- Not a full rewrite, but Kal El's extensive Harry Potter writeup
(philosopher Stone era) has been further detailed and discussed and
improved - it's now version 2.5.
- Barrier, likely the most obscure member of the B-Team of Justin
Hammer operatives
- Carcharo, an old opponent of Infinity, Inc. He's a vicious shark-
man.
- Chroma, another Infinity Inc. encounter - the mysterious space
alien type
- Another semi-obscure group of Marvel supervillains by Gareth,
which should be useful in many campaigns. The galactic felons of
Force, from the Guardians of the Galaxy subset of the Marvel
Universe ! Roll call:
- Brahl
- Broadside
- Eightyfive
- The leader, Interface (who of course does not have the Interface
Power)
- Photon (not to be confused with the numerous other Marvel
characters of that name)
- Scanner
- Tachyon
- The major superheroine in the Philippines - the legendary Darna,
by Adam
- A since we're at it another Filipina character, the far less
exalted Maritess. She's the much abused maid of the Super-Friends.
- Gort -- a big underground monster with lots of pointy teeth. He's
dangerous.
- Another monster (but richly-illustrated so it's not a slab of
text) writeup covers the Cold War incarnation of the Suicide Squad,
with all their odd adventures full of space aliens, giant monsters,
growing insects and dinosaurs (lots of dinosaurs). The four members
are here:
- Karin Grace
- Dr Hugh Evans
- Jess Bright
- And of course Rick Flag Jr.
- The last batch had Larsenverse's Super-Tough, so this one has his
former sidekick Young Tough, now called Mace.
- Continuing Peter's research in to the Larsenverse we also have a
pair of fun thugs, the Rumble Brothers
- A homemade character by Peter, from an old campaign of his - Mad
Peter Quick.
- A very minor but quite attaching DCU character - Mary Kramer, the
best friend of the second Star-Spangled Kid in Blue Valley.
- Paintball, a minor but kinda fun opponent of the second Star-
Spangled Kid
- And one last Star-Spangled Kid II-related character -- Shiv I,
IMO a very interesting villain
- The Seven Soldiers arc may be over, but we have more Grant
Morrison stuff -- this batch has Officer Ned Slade, from the
miniseries The Filth
- More Black Lagoon manga and anime material from Tom, this
time with Shenhua
The head count is now 3546 entries. We're getting there.
01/14/2008
Continuing a frenzied but hopeless effort to catch up with the backlog, I've blindly
grabbed some more stuff from the DC Heroes Mailing List Archives. Roll call:
- ART. This time we got new art for the following entries:

- Ah Keung is one of Jackie Chan's most famous character, whom he played in
Rumble in the Bronx.
- The Man with No Name is from the over the top Muse music video for the geek hit
Knight of Cydonia.. He's a laser cowboy who speaks with his fists, and his fist
speak kung fu !

batch carries Dart and Tempest.
- This batch also finishes Gareth's arc through the Alias action spy TV series,

Greenback Jane.

Kal El.

Current count is 3521 entries.
01/10/2008
I'm not going to catch up with the backlog, but I can try...
Apparently this one's theme is "chiefly street-level people" -- the
joys of randomness, I guess.
- ART. There is a Flash site at http://www.hyperborea.org/flash/,
and they have among other good content some excellent detoured
illustrations (go visit them !) ; I've borrowed those for the
characters we also have, since this type of site has an history of
disappearing. The characters with new cool art are thus:
- Cicada
- Double Down
- Folded Man
- Girder
- Heat Wave
- Magenta
- Mirror Master III
- Murmur
- Peek a boo
- Tar Pit
Further new art has been added for the following characters:
- Roadblock
- Namor the Submariner

- Star Boy (post-reboot)
- Star Spangled Kid II
- Spoiler
- Dana Sterling, from the Robotech universe
- A short generic benchmark for skill levels in the DC Heroes/
Blood of Heroes game
- The first half of Tom's arc on the Jokerz, a very minor street
gang from the Batman Beyond cartoon:

persuasion
- The famous Lucky Luke, the fastest man in the Old West, is now in.
- A one-shot arc about a series of Big Jim action figures from the
1970s, the P.A.C.K.:
- Doctor Steel
- Torpedo
- Warpath
- Whip
- The Exterminatrix -- the ally of the Kree version of Marvel Boy
- One of the lesser members of the Johnny Sorrow version of the
Injustice Society -- Geomancer
- The next-to-last instalment of our very big Morrison's Seven
Soldiers arc:
- The Hand aka the Iron Hand. He once nearly crushed the Earth,
you know.
- Misty Kilgore, Zatanna's apprentice (and the Queen of the Last
Age of Man)
- An entry about the various Sheeda forces - troopers, monsters,
etc.
- The third Shining Knight (aka Justin/Ystin or Justina/Ystina)
- The Homeless Avenger, an old antagonist of the second Vigilante

Hawkeye

call:
- Irina Derevko
- Kelly Peyton
- Michael Vaughn
- Nadia Santos
- Continuing Tom's profiles of Final Fantasy characters, here comes
a favourite - Lulu.
- Another Flash's Rogues Gallery member by Mirage - this time it's
the Top
We know have 3495 entries online.
01/06/2008
In this batch:
- ART. The image refreshing project is about 2/3 of the way
through. Images that looked faded, washed out, etc. are now more
vibrant, images that were blurry or smudgy are now sharper, hue
saturations or (more commonly desaturations) have been dealt with,
images looking too cold for the subject now look warmer, etc, I don't
expect anybody to notice this (unless one holds the 'before' and
'after' images next to each other), so it boils down to the site now
having prettier and more engaging images. Of course, not all the old
stuff can be made better that way.
- NEW ART. Just a few:
- Ariadna from the Patrulla Barna.
- Bombolla (same)
- Timber Wolf (pre-Crisis)
- Wildfire (pre-Crisis)
- 'Mace' Samuels, a minor NPC from L.A.
- Silver Dagger, a classic and rather interesting Doctor Strange
enemy
- The Seven Soldiers (Grant Morrison version) writeups continue
trickling in, so as not to overwhelm readers with the coolness. In
this batch:
- The Bulleteer
- Ebeneezer Badde
- Frankenstein
- The Leviathan that was encountered in the sewers of NYC
- A Mexican hero in the DCU - El Muerto
- A gang of magical mummy soldiers -- the Sons of Anubis who fought
the JLA
- UPDATED CONTENT. The rewriting of entries that no longer met
quality standards continue ; this time:
- Mark Scarlotti (the first Whiplash, as well as the first
Blacklash) is now very thoroughly covered in three writeups (in
chronological order Whiplash I (early), Blacklash I, and Whiplash I
(late)).
- Blackwing I (Joey Silvermane) has been entirely redone
- Ivan the gunman, secretly one of the key charcaters of the
Marvel Universe - redone
- His former colleague Shellshock, also a minor villain with a
special weapon - redone
- Levy and Rock of Black Lagoon have been upversioned
- The much-awaited Kim Possible writeup (sixth iteration) is now
online.
- A new entry for the Ultimates -- the mighty Thor !!

series, not the comic book) arc by Gareth. This batch has:
- Anna Espinosa
- Arvin Sloane
- Julian Sark
- Rachel Gibson
- The Ninja Mimes who tried to kill Grimjack
- Two more characters from Kal El's Spanish campaign:
- Mascara (the Masked Lady)
- Pyremus Heraklyon, a great dragon
Headcount is but 3470, given the number of upgrades.
12/30/2007
It's been a long time coming, but the new batch is finally here before
the end of the year. Roll call:
- NEW ART. People enjoying the pretty peekchurs will find new and/
or improved illustrations for the following entries:
- Demogoblin
- Carrion I
- Doctor Octopus I
- Gibbon I
- Wonder Man (classic era)
- Wolverine
- Rocket Racer
- Dream Girl (pre-Crisis)
- Colossal Boy (pre-Crisis)
- Carnage
- Rhino
- Vulture I (Toomes)
- Thundra
- Tarantula II (Rodriguez)
- Morbius (early/classic writeup)
- Lizard
- Kraven
- Answer
- The lengthiest entry for this batch is probably the full profile
of Aztek, an excellent but short-lived hero brought to the DCU by
Grant Morrison. He's pretty spiffy.
- This batch also includes two more Aztek villains, or rather, a
couple of heroes tragically fallen into bitter villainy - Bloodtype
(formerly Mr. America) and Death Doll (formerly Liberty Lass).
- A timeline has been added for Kal El's campaign Patrulla Barna
- The rewrite for Nomad III (Jack Monroe) has started, though this
is pretty hard to predict when it will be finished. The old writeup is
still available, and there are two new, very detailed ones:
- Jack as Bucky III (both in the 1950s and in the 1970s)
- Jack during his early Nomad career (before he started using
firearms)
- Here are further writeups from Peter's research into the
Larsenverse. In this batch:
- Cutthroat
- Cyberface
- Mako
- Powerhouse, the superman with the head of a chicken
- A home-brewed character; Death Hunter by Lord Jobe
- A triad of very old writeups for Doctor Who - the Fourth
regeneration, the Eighth Regeneration and a 'generic' writeup. Those
writeups are so ancient they no longer meet our quality requirements,
but since people keep requesting them to be reposted and we're not
going to rewrite them any time soon, they're in after all.
- This batch also has more of those really, really cool characters
from Grant Morison's Seven Soldiers meta-series. Namely:
- Don Vincenzo the Undying Don (formerly Kid Scarface)
- Mister Melmoth, one of the key villains of the story
- Sally Sonic, another tragically fallen heroine (lots of those
from Grant M. in this batch)
- From Pufnstuff's work on the Stephen King Universe, here is an
entry for the young Firestarter.
- A classic Marvel villain finally got a full, quite detailed
writeup (and thus a complete rewrite from the previous entry): the
second Gladiator, Melvin Potter ! This entry also fixes a grave issue
- for some reason, all the Gladiator II profiles I ever saw had a
terrible picture. Well, *ours* has a really cool leading illustration..
- Another Marvel bad guy who got a complete overhaul since his
existing entry no longer matched quality standards - the second
Silencer.
- We don't have an entry for Earth-616's Janet van Dyne yet, so
here are three other Wasps to compensate:
- The Golden Wasp, an early enemy of Wildcat from the 1940s
- The Killer Wasp, an enemy of wildcat and the JSA in the 2000s
- The Wasp, but from the Ultimate Universe
- Speaking of the Ultimates, this batch also has an entry for two
more - Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch !
- Speaking of the Scarlet Witch, this batch includes an entry for
the Wanda of Earth-616. Since this is one of those very complete
writeups, it only covers her early career ; more to come, err, later.
- Remember our Tommy Vercetti (the main character from the Grand
Theft Auto - Vice City videogame) writeup ? Well, the second half
is here ! Covering Tommy in his career as a full-fledged drugs lord.
And that's all the content for now. Current number of entries is
3452.
11/04/2007
I'm not supposed to have time for this, but this batch is just so
full of genuinely cool stuff it was impossible to delay it further.
Roll call:
- Some of Gareth's work had been accidentally missed for
publication, which deprived our Faithful Readers of the full roster
of two mid-level, obscure groups of super-villains - a rather useful
resource in most campaigns. Here's the lacking material:
- An illustration for Rik of the Gatherers
- Tarkas, the missing Gatherer
- Hungyr, the missing member of the Supremacists
- Blackstarr, a powerful and somewhat odd DC Universe villainess.
Who may or may not be able to repel galaxies, and may or may not have
survived the Crisis. In some ways she is DC's equivalent of Molecule
Man.
- Another obscure character from the rich past of the DC Universe
- Morgana the Witch. This chaotic, bellicose powerhouse almost had
her own series at one point.
- Sai, a mercenary martial arts weirdo from the Marvel Universe.
We got a lot of those.
- This batch includes more material from Morisson's fascinating
Seven Soldiers meta-series. This time you'll be treated to
the mysteries of:
- Ali Ka-Zoom, once the Merlin Of the Ghetto, now deceased but
watchful
- Big Ed, the mysterious publisher of New York City broadsheet
the Manhattan Guardian
- His best-known employee, the professional super-hero and one-
man-riot-squad reporter, the Manhattan Guardian
- The deadliest killer in the employ of rogue wetwork agency
S.H.A.D.E. -- the Bride of Frankenstein !
- Her boss, the devious and manic Father Time
- Gimmix, a strictly small-time and neurotic super-heroine and
Pemberton fortune inheritor - but with an odd touch of class of her
own
- Slowly continuing entries for characters from the Invincible universe -- Bulletproof
- Another entry from the somewhat odd continuity of What If
Stan Lee Had Invented the DC Universe" - this time with a
parallel universe version of Catwoman. Different but still very
dangerous.
- Donovan Flint, the he-man hero from the 1970s space opera
stories of the Starhunters. Now definitely a blast from the past.
- Dormammu, the ruler of the Dark Dimension and mystic quasi-
principality - as well as one of the key Doctor Strange villains
- The mythical Judge Anderson, Psi Division, has finally migrated
from the old version of writeups.org
- Lion-O - of the Thundercats, obviously
- The first of our entries for Danielle Moonstar (most famously of
the New Mutants), concentrating on the early era during which she was
known as Psyche
- Omega - the mega-powerful opponent of the pre-Crisis Legion of
Super-Heroes. Omega is the sum total of all the hatred in the universe !
- Another powerful classic villain - Moira McTaggart's son,
Proteus (aka "Mutant X"), a vintage X-Men opponent more recently seen
in the pages of the Exiles
- In order to continue to bring in more JSA-related content, this
batch includes two rather large writeups:
- S.T.R.I.P.E. (Pat Dugan) has been entirely rewritten (and
should be further detailed with Infinity Inc. content at a later point)
- His stepdaughter Courtney, who became the second Star-Spangled
Kid as well as a major source of adolescent trouble
- Tony Stark - this time it's the version from the animated Iron
Man movie
- Another entry based on classic rock tunes - this time it's the
Trooper, of Iron Maiden fame
- Finally, Ursa Major has been entirely rewritten since we were
not happy with the existing writeup. It's now rather big and
detailed.
That's 3427 entries.
08/14/2007
Well that one went fast - lot of help, and an unusual number of
entries that do not have an illustration. Now let's break 3400. Roll
call:
- ART. The entries that received new cool art are:
- Zeek
- The Marine from the Doom video game
- Shadow Lass (pre-Crisis)
- Validus (pre-Crisis)
- Cyberdemon (from the Doom video game)
- Mancubus (id.)
- Revenant (id.)
- Spider Master Mind (id.) (he he, 'id'. OK, not funny.)
- Nightwind, who previously did not have a peekchur.
- Whispering Jack, who was in the same awkward situation as
Nightwind.
- FABLES. This writeup arc ends with:
- Breetai, the giant commander-in-chief from Robotech
- Avatar, a Authority-style homemade character by Chad
- The new Vision from the Young Avengers
- We're starting our entries about DC's International Ultramarine
Corps with:
- Fascination, from the Special Executive (and the Technet)
- Hexus, the Living Corporation
- Jack Carver, from the Far Cry video game (PC version)
- We will slowly go through practically everyone who appeared in
the Seven Soldiers Grant Morrison 2005 meta-series. In this
batch:
- Cassandra Craft, a dealer of mystical artefacts
- FBI Special Agent Helen 'Sky-High' Helligan
- Giles, one of the missing major characters from Buffy the
Vampire Slayer
- The entry for Groo has had a few minor upgrades
- Karb-Brak, an obscure pre-Crisis Superman opponent
- The two main missing people from the Freedom Force video
games:
- Maco, from Mike's Wink World campaign
- Solar, a homemade villain from Kal-El's campaign -- not to be
confused with Sol, from Kal El's random character generator, who is
also in this batch
- Steel Wind, a classic Ghost Rider enemy
- Valfadir, a PC from Kal-El's campaign, has been upgraded
- Synergy, a now dead hero from Bil's campaign
- Two tests from Kal-El's random character generator:
- Vash the Stampede -- from, of course, Trigun
- Refit, from an ancient TSR's Top Secret game supplement
- Fleur-de-Lis, one of the few French characters in the DCU.
And thus, 3403 entries. See you next batch!
07/22/2007
This here batch is a snapshot of the most recent completed writeup at the time it was assembled (though some old stuff managed to get in by virtue of being republished at just that moment). I chose to do this at one point where a lot of DC villains were being published, for people who grumble they don't even have 350 DCU villains to chose from on that stupid site. Roll call:
- ART. Not much (got tired) - one new shot for Zoom II, and Superman Beyond (the homemade version) now has a nice illustration.
- Two of the missing Strikeforce Morituri heroes:
- Most of the aforementioned DCU villains are from various versions of the Cadre. The following are the neo-Nazi militia called the Aryan Nation, that was also part of the Judgement Day version of the Cadre:
- Backlash
- Blind Faith
- Golden Eagle II
- Heatmonger
- Iron Cross
- The original, 1980s Cadre is now here, too. Like the Aryan Nation, those villains are just the right level for a big brawl in many campaign:
- Black Mass
- Crowbar
- Fastball
- Nightfall
- Shatterfist I
- Shatterfist II
- Shrike III
- Starshrike
- The famous inept barbarian, Groo.
- The first two entries for the Force of July quasi-governmental team, which happens to be a big bunch of bullies and fanatics:
- Major Victory (I and II)
- Sparkler (I)
- The Master Mold, the original mutant-hunting uber-Sentinel in the Marvel Universe
- The world-famous Monkey King, as seen in Chinese epic Journey to the West
- Morgg, a giant DCU henchman who happens to be immune to magic
- The pre-Crisis Legion entries being pretty popular, here comes another big one for... Phantom Girl! With a super-cute illustration to boot.
- T-Bag from Prison Break
- Our first entry for the famous Tommy Vercetti, of Grand Theft Auto fame
- Zeek, the strongest person there is in the Larsenverse
Let me check... 3376 entries now, we'll break 3400 by the next one.
07/06/2007
Another somewhat random array, though with generally much bigger
names than the previous random picks. Roll call:
- ART. Not much this time, I don't have the time, so mostly late
submissions. New and/or improved art for:
- Vigilante II (Adrian Chase)
- Captain Nemo (LXG comics)
- Mystelor (Taurus Gang)
- Shagrek (Taurus Gang)
- Mister Popo (Dragonball Z)
- The homemade Tangent version of the Swamp Thing
- FABLES. This batch has Bluebeard.
- 790, the insufferable robot head from LEXX.
- Azalin, a lich-king from the Raveloft AD&D setting
- Cyborg, from the cartoon version of the Teen Titans
- The Dark Messiah and his disciples, an old Moondragon-created
Daredevil villain - during the San Francisco era
- HK-47 -- no, not that one, a homebrewed character
- The Lizard King, one of the most dangerous enemies Aztek met
during his brief career
- The "Junk Cyborgs", two servants of the Lizard King
- Notes for Miss Victory, the chief Femforce character
- Mister Gargoyle, one of those terrible old Wonder Woman villains
from just before the mod karate era
- Mysterio - a classic Spider-Man villain
- The fascinating Nemesis III, the Spirit of Retribution seen
through several eras of Alpha Flight adventures. I say "era" a lot,
today. Era.
- Nicholas Wolfwood from Trigun. His cross is full of mercy.
- JC Roque, which I think is the last of the Losers (2000s version)
- Two of the missing magical sailor girls:
- Sailor Jupiter
- Sailor Venus
- The Scarlet Mask, a random artefact from a thoroughly obscure
Boris Karloff comic book
- Scripture, the Teragen guy, and thus a conversion from
Aberrant
- S T R I P E from the JSA -- formerly Stripesy, aka Pat Dugan
- More Superman goodness. This time:
- Superman as he was in 1942
- Superman from Earth-1, on a PRE-CRISIS POWER SCALE
- "Superman Beyond", created by Puf on the template of the
Batman Beyond cartoon
- The fourth Whip -- a forerunner of a batch full of Seven
Soldiers (Grant Morrisson's 2005 version) that will come, hmmm, at
some point
- Notes about Zeitgeist -- the one from the Special Executive
- Zoom II, from the DC Universe.
So that's 3351 entries by now ; the next batch will probably take
recent work rather than diving deep into the past.
06/27/2007
Another dump from our archives, ranging from the cool to the useful
to the bizarre. For some reason this one went down real fast -- I had
more help and there was less stuff to detour, I guess. Roll call:
- ART. The following entries get new and/or better art:
- Antithesis (the DCU one)
- Fury I (the DCU one, too)
- Manhunter I
- NIL-8 (the previous illo was a ugly coffee smudge, basically)
- Big Wheel
- Cyclone I (sacrebleu !)
- Multi-Man
- Mina Harker
- Catwoman
- Doctor Strange
- Invisible Man (the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen one). He
didn't have an illo before. Why ? Because he's invisible. Duh.
- Massacre
- The Gargoyle (the DCU one)
- The Dalek and the Cybermen have got back the photos they had in
the old database (and get to keep the new stuff, of course)
- The Afro Samurai. He's a samurai. He wears an afro. Really. From
a Spike TV anime.
- The first two characters from Final Fantasy X -- meet Auron the
ronin and Rikku the thief.
- Some very, very small-time super-mercenaries from the DCU, for
low-level enounters - Dial V for Villains. Roll call:
- Awol
- Bloodhound
- Deathgrip
- Tattoo
- Count Magnus Lee, the very powerful vampire foe of Vampire Hunter D
- One of the Great Lakes Whatever that was missing - Doorman. In
fact we might be done with them. I'll have to check.
- Freak, another product of Kal El's random generator
- Fred -- like Shaggy, this is an 'alternate future' version of
the Scooby Doo character.
- Hawkman -- Mike's homebrew version from his Wink World
- The Impossible Man, one of Marvel's least tolerable characters
- Liomane, an invulnerable Chinese modern-day pirate and colonel
with a neat costume
- Major Fraiser - continuing our Stargate:SG1 characters
writeups
- Man-Bot, continuing our Freedom Force video game writeups
- The Mangler II, a brutal, bestial wrestler who's also a thug.
Any campaign need those, right ? Right ?
- Necromancer -- the eeeeviiilll version of Dr Strange on Counter-
Earth
- Spear, an old Luke Cage villain with a spear launcher. Actually
he's kinda cool.
- Another Young Avenger -- Speed. You'll never guess what his
power is !
- Spirit Guardian, a ghost from the Miracles TV series
- Sporty Spice. Worse, this is the second Spice Girls writeup on
WORG.
- Steel Kommando -- because everyone needs flying armoured Nazi
villains with guns.
- Sylvester J. Superman, from an abysmal episode of the 1950s
Superman TV series. He's the strongest man in Skunk Hollow
County.
- Whispering Jack, a homebrew from Pufnstuff. I'm having a bit of
HD trouble for the peekchur, hang in there.
And we triumphantly reach 3326 entries. I'm gonna celebrate
with, hmm, a bottle of Vitamin Water, I guess.
06/24/2007
As I continued my industrious (if somewhat repetitive) descents into
the archives, I've brought from the depths a fair bunch of random and
interesting stuff. Roll call:
- ART - Like with much of the previous art improvements, many of
those illustrations come form the rapsheet.co.uk site I already
recommended. We often use the exact same sources, we detour in the
same way and for all I know we use the same Photoshop filters -
several times I was ready to detour an illustration when I realized
the work was already done there.... And in quite a few cases, we have
the exact same illustration, except we worked on it independently. So
anyway, new, cool art for:
- Cluemaster
- Kingslayer
- Magog (the Superman-killer)
- Phobos (Ares' son in the DCU)
- Pteradon
- The Warlock of Ys
- Bulldozer (from the Wrecking Crew)
- Vermin
- Whiplash II (from the Femmes Fatales)
- Barbarus (from the Savage Land Mutates)
- Prometheus (the JLA villain)
- Tremolo
- The Weasel
- Jack Burton (Big Trouble in LIttle China)
- Misfit (Night Shift)
- Awesome Replicoid
- Shocker
- Brutale
- Electrocutioner (the DC one)
- KGBeast (modern version)
- Lynx (of the Ghost dragons)
- Killer Moth (post-Crisis version)
- Tally man
- King Snake
- Cosmic King
- Mist Master
- Diamondback I
- Mollaka
- Frenzy (Joanna Cargill) has a new in-text illustration
- ART - I have also started haphazardly correcting color levels in
some illustrations that were too faded (most comic book papers do not
age very well), making them more vibrant and better-looking.
- The entry for the Whip II has been slightly upgraded.
- FABLES. In this one we catch up with the low number of entries
in the last batch or two. We got:
- The Adversary (and the Emperor, and the wooden soldiers)
- Boy Blue
- Goldilocks
- Mowgli
- Losers -- the cat dragged Cougar (the laconic Catholic sniper) in.
- The Disco Boys, enforcers not-so-extraordinaire in Mystery
Men, with a focus on Tony C. and Tony P. Would they win against
the Roller Disco Devils and the Hypno-Hustler, though ?
- Golden Beetle, a homebrewed from Mike.
- Kill-Cat, the inept super-hero from the Larsenverse
- Killraven, the legendary leader of the human resistance after
the War of the Worlds
- From the old database comes Lord Defile, a Daemonite lord, and a
capsule entry for Muhgi, the mutant cat from Dirty Pair
- Manhattan Flash, from a Johnny Cash song, joins Rockworld
- "Marvel Boy" -- Noh-Varr -- the wild Kree super-soldier
- Mister Popo, a Dragonball character
- Writeups are surfacing that laid unpublished for six or more
years, such as Mustang from the Exiles (in the Ultraverse). The
illustration was a bitch to detour, too.
- The Piper, a pipe-themed Silver Age villain, starts our sweep
through the Morrisson/Millar Aztek mini-series of ten years ago
- The entry for Richard's homebrewed Powerslide has been updated
- Various editorial clean-ups in the very detailed Prisoner /
Number Six entry
- An adaptation of the Skull Spirits, undead monsters from a GURPS
supplement
- Somehow, poor Sliver had been forgotten when I was putting the
Gatherers online. Here she is now.
- The second Smuggler -- Erik Josten's bro, with the Redeemers
- Stanley Tweedle, the pathetic captain of the LEXX
- Three 'Tangent' characters, homebrewed in Kal El's namesake
campaign:
- Holocaust
- Manhunter
- Swamp Thing
So, as previously implied, headcount is now 3301 (which is
about one entry a day, 365/7, for nine full years plus a month and a
week, including leap years, according to me calculator).
06/20/2007
Yet more content to continue to compensate for those months that went
without an update during the last year (I was a tad busy). Roll
call:
- ART. New, cool stuff (along with, quite often, improvements in
the old stuff) for:
- The Warlord (the DCU one, Travis Morgan)
- Will o' the Wisp
- The Wraith (the old Spidey villain)
- Magnir (converted AD&D character. I've also tweaked the
mechanics, but who cares)
- Black Mace
- Beast (of the X-Men, and others)
- Penance
- Spider-Woman I (Jess Drew)
- Nightcrawler
- Black Lightning
- Booster Gold
- Night Girl (pre-Crisis LSH)
- Omni-Man
- The Thing From Another World (literary version)
- Charcoal
- Jolt
- Superboy (pre-Graduation Day)
- Mister Terrific II
- Powerhouse I (Champions of Xandar)
- The Lion God
- Ravan
- Acolytes of Magneto. Ain't none. I'm trying to write up some DC stuff
ATM.
- Fables. Next batch !
- Allen the Alien, the one eyed Kryptonian-level brick from the
Invincible universe
- Batman Beyond
- The main types of Boomer androids from Bubblegum Crisis's Mega-
Tokyo
- An updated entry for the first Captain Boomerang
- Losers: In this one we got the boss, Clay
- Cerebro's X-Men. Since people are likely to use them as a group,
here goes the rest:
- Crux
- Gray King
- Landslide II
- Mercury
- Rapture
- Long time since we didn't have a Buffy writeup... so why,
why, WHY did it have to be Dawn Summers?
- The Gas Man, a toilet humor homebrew from Jay
- The first Green Goblin -- but this detailed writeup captures the
*movie* version of the character, as played by Willem Dafoe
- Jill Valentine, one of the core character from Resident Evil
- Johnny Clonic, another experiment from Kal El's random generator
- Kid Lantern, an homebrew in the style of DC cartoons by Azrael
- Klamos and Grok, two terrible villains from old Wonder Woman
stories. We do have a few of those, unfortunately, since for some
reason I read a few issues preceding the 'karate mod era' when
writing that up.
- Marian, another NPC from an old Shadowrun campaign
- Medini, the world's greatest hypnotist -- a very old Superman
villain
- Meryl Stryfe - Milly's derringers-wielding colleague from
Trigun
- Miss America, inspired by a Styx song like the rest of the core
Rockworld homebrewed
- Plunder, a secondary Flash villain
- Power Core, a group entry for the guys in Bil's campaign
- Sailor Mercury -- joining Mars on WORG
- Snowblind, a minor yet somehow classic Ghost Rider villain
- Tru Davies, the character portrayed by nerd-favourite actress
Eliza Dushku in the Tru calling TV series.
The next batch will break 3300.
06/18/2007
I ended up doing most of he illos for which a volunteer was needed,
again... :-((. Anyway, roll call:
- ART. In this batch, the entries for which the art has been
enhanced are:
- Brainwave II
- Bulletgirl
- The Persuader (post-reboot version -- the previous illustration
was from a *wrong* version of the Persuader)
- Likewise Cdr Adama is now illustrated with the correct version
of the character
- Stegron the Dinosaur Man
- The Turtle (the Wild Cards one)
- Onomatopoeia
- Antaeus (from the New Olympians who fought Batman and the
Outsiders)
- U235
- Venom
- The Cyberdemon and the Demon Spitter from the Doom
videogame
- Typos and small modifications and additions-- I've cleared as
many typos and assorted stuff and changes signaled by the WORG Patrol
as I could stand. Go go, WORG Patrol !
- Acolytes of Magneto -- none in this batch, you guys had two last
time.
- Fables. In this batch, Prince Charming. Stay tuned!
- A first three-round burst from the recent Losers series
from DC: Aisha the scary badass warrior/assassin from Afghanistan,
Jensen the Special Forces techie and Pooch, the Special Forces
vehicles specialist.
- Animal, from a Rob Schneider 'comedy' role. It did a big fat 31%
on Rotten Tomatoes...
- The Animals File is a large and extensively researched
compilation of real-world animals, useful both for animal opponents
and for people with Shapechange, Animal Mimicry, etc. -- in fact,
special attention has been paid to model animal abilities for those
with those Powers. This entry is still being worked on since it's so
full of content, but I couldn't deprive faithful writeups.org readers
of it any longer.
- The Black Star Ninja was one of the bad guys in American
Ninja I. He shoots lasers and flames, and he trains ninja thugs !
- The Brain Globes of Rambat are a very early Legion of Super-
Heroes foe. They did not age very well, as you will see...
- Brother Nature is an obscure Captain America opponent who can
control natural forces
- Celine "Echo Zombie" McGowan is a conversion of an old
Shadowrun super-cop NPC.
- Chaos aka Xaos, the first of the various "Cerebro X-Men", which
can be convenient throwaway opponents
- Chief Tyrol, a member of the Battlestar Galactica crew (the 2003
version)
- Another ninja with a difference -- the unkillable Death Ninja, a
foe of the Ghost Rider
- The Gashouse Gorillas baseball team, from a findly remember Bugs
Bunny 1946 cartoon
- I-Ching, the Mysterious Aged Oriental Master who mentored Wonder
Woman during the 1960s "mod karate era"
- Charles-Ingvar "Sickan" Jönsson, from a series of whimsical
Swedish gangster movies
- Milly Thompson, the strong-armed lady from the manga Trigun
- Mollaka, the guy James Bond chases in the second opening
sequence of Casino Royale - and the first movie role of
traceur Sebastien Foucan
- Nightshade, a weird lady scientist from the Marvel Universe. She
dabbles in werewolves. And mob robots. And chemical weapons. And
dragon-god DNA. And all of this is in the hands of an incredibly
cocky and immature young woman.
- Two capsule entries I'm not quite happy with but I couldn't
really throw away... grumble grmll... since they were on the previous
version of WORG, many years ago. Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear
Solid and Shasti from Dirty Pair.
- Safeguard, a homebrewed that was part of Kal El's experiments
with his random character generator
- Shaggy (and Scooby Doo) - an Elseworld version of the famous
cartoon character, intended for a homebrewed continuity where
everyone grew up and changed Genre
- Shagrek, the missing member of the Taurus Gang, joins WORG.
- The notes for DCU's second Vigilante have been upgraded
Okay, I'll admit it was full of the obscure, the quirky and the
weird. But batches tend to be assembled somewhat randomly, so we'll
see how the next one turns out ! Headcount is now 3252.
06/12/2007
What is huge, enormous, humongous, gargantuan? The WORG publication
backlog. So here's an attempt to make it a bit less disastrous, with
a random selection that ranges from the really cool to the bizarre
and unexpected. Roll call:
- ART -- the art for the following entries has been redone or
noticeably enhanced:
- Hacker
- Manhunter IV (Mark Shaw)
- Dragon (leader of the Dragon's Claws in 8162)
- Roga
|
