There’s a surprising amount of material in this one, actually :

  • V2s. As follows:
    • The Killer Moth (Pre-Crisis) entry has been replaced by a much more specific and extensive entry for the Earth-2 Killer Moth, with twice as many illustrations. So it’s much better now. But what about the Earth-1 Killer Moth, you say ? Stay tuned – same bat-site, same bat-page !
    • Rock Howard was revised by the author to improve stuff. Now even Rock’s bass guitar gets stats !
  • Batboy, a player character from one of Ethan’s old campaigns.
  • ART. As follows:
    • Blue Mary Ryan received some extra art to go with the recently revised text.
    • The shot of Firefly (1959) has been cleaned up with the ancient printing smudges corrected.
    • Dragoncat got a few extra illustrations – such is the way of the ninja
    • A few stock banners have been added to our Nick Fury notes, since the illo column was much longer than the text
  • ART BORROWED FROM RAPSHEET.CO.UK. A few cool, detoured-just-like-we-do bits for:
  • Alicia DeVries, the heroine of Fury Reborn, one of Weber’s mil sci-fi books, by Mike.
  • Remember Roy’s big Werewolf by Night entry ? Well here comes the second writeup – after the Early era, the Classic era. To see this profile continue is so cool that we’re over the moon.
  • We haven’t really published Authority material in, oh, a dozen years. But Peter found our misplaced key of the Carrier’s door, so here a Jack Hawksmoor entry ! Which I guess is the most important comic book character in this batch. Technically it’s a v2, but the set of notes it replaces was very old and minimalist.
  • STREET FIGHTERS. Two more Street Fighters by Tom :
    • Dee Jay, the fighter/pop star with a grin
    • Rose, the Italian mystic and fighter
  • Flamingo, a recent Morrison character from Batman and Robin. This trepanned, monstrously insane hitman is a nightmare.
  • INVINCIBLE. More Kirkman material from Bryan – in this batch, Young Omni-Man.
  • STUFF GETS CLEARER. More entries got corrections to make the texts clearer :
  • BLACK SUMMER. Gareth continues reviewing the Seven Guns – in this batch, Tom Noir.

Work, re-work and re-re-rework… ain’t no other way to keep bringing a better calibre of stats, texts and pictures among our 4344 entries.

Lots of entries that were improved in this batch, some additional material for our longest arcs, the start of a new arc and an outlier. WORG’s quality rests on this constant work to improve and complete what exists, whilst covering new an exciting stuff ! Roll call :

  • STUFF GETS MORE ILLUSTRATED. Namely:
    • Sylar got an extra helping of illustrations.
    • Janissa’s entry for a recent batch has been more fully illustrated
  • STUFF GETS CLEARER. Two reworked entries :
    • The big Blastaar entry has received a round of cosmetic rewriting – no new info or technical changes, but it’s now a more relaxed read and more pleasant to peruse. For none can equal the staggering might of BLASTAAR !
    • The Silver Sable entry has seen even more extensive reworking (mostly clarity, typos and other editorial stuff, though there are minor technical changes) and is now a v2.1.
  • STUFF GETS REDONE. We have the technology to rebuild them – stronger, faster, better. And when people like us have the technology we *use* it, no matter what the accursed Richards is insinuating about our calculations. In this batch:
    • Blue Mary Ryan (from Fatal Fury and King of Fighters) was revised by Tom
    • The minor entry for Burner (from Dark Horse’s Comics Greatest World) was fully redone
    • The entry for Hunter (also from CGW) was also fully redone and re-illustrated. Note that all the context, plots, background, etc. for his merry band, the Wolf Gang, is now in the Gangs of Steel Harbor entry.
    • Our entry for Killer Shrike (a basic, very convenient mercenary villain) has been completely redone, re-illustrated and quite expanded to be definitive
    • Kyo Kusanagi (from King of Fighters) was also revised by Tom and got more illustrations
    • Yukio (one of Wolverine’s girlfriends) also got a completely redone and re-illustrated, expanded entry intended to be definitive. Most people who remember her think she’s cool.
  • STREET FIGHTERS STUFF GETS ADDED. Two minor entries from those classic martial arts video games:
    • Birdie, the British punk
    • Rufus, the grandiloquent buffoon
  • BLACK SUMMER. This batch sees the beginning of Gareth’s arc through the Warren Ellis series Black Summer. For once I managed to start publishing the arc in a sensible place, with the entry for John Horus.
  • NEXT MEN. There are no short- or medium-term plans to release a series of articles about this 1990s John Byrne series, but Peter nonetheless covered Sathanas, the main villain of the piece.

So we got 4337 entries now, since the majority of this were rewrites and edits.

Another illustrated selection of wonders, oddities and trivia. Roll call :

  • V2. The entry for Amy Rohrbach has been almost entirely rewritten and re-illustrated to our current standards. She’s a police captain and could thus be quite useful in some street-level DCU campaigns.
  • ART. Beyond the all-new artwork for Cpt. Rohrbach, there’s some nice new art for:
    • Tarantula III (the DC one – the text was also dusted a bit)
    • Shrike IV (the text was also touched up – our Nightwing entries are starting to show their age)
    • Our popular Nightwing entry has received various additional banner and column illustrations.
  • Cosmo, the psionic ex-Soviet dog cosmonaut from the excellent Guardians of the Galaxy book, now is beink gettink WORG entry that is by comrade Peter.
  • A fairly big entry about Lovecraft’s Deep Ones of Cthulhu Mythos fame, as reviewed by Hominid.
  • The main entry for this batch is probably our first profile for Grimjack, as courageously plumbed by Gareth. This 1980s classic has aged well and remains bursting with potential, especially in a RPG context.
  • Another entry for the Invincible universe by Bryan — the Immortal. That’s the name of the character, not a quality of Bryan.
  • Another foray into the weirdness of 1940s comic books. This time it’s Quality Comics’s (and thus later DC Comics’s) Madam Fatal, a vigilante who’s a middle-aged actor disguised as a little old lady. No, really. As a bonus, this batch also has a bonus for Fatal’s one-time foe the Tiger Woman.
  • Two brawling video game entries by Tom, featuring soldiers:
    • Ralf Jones (King of Fighters)
    • Rolento Sugerg (Street Fighters)
  • We are starting our profiles series for the Peacemaker, as part of the Blue Beetle work – though it will likely take a ridiculous amount of time. This first profile is from the very beginning of the character with Charlton comics, in the late 60s. It was an, aaahh, interesting time.
  • And finally Puf adds to his detailed Kim Possible entry with a big Ron Stoppable profile.

And so all of these nice things bring us to a total of 4333 entries, which I’m sure has some deep occult significance.
