Appa Ali Apsa is one of the few named Guardians of the Universe, and appeared in 1970.
The Guardians of the Universe are the ancient species behind the Green Lantern Corps and their predecessors.
These notes exist as a 1990s back-up of another web site that published DC Heroes stats. We eventually worked with their originator to archive the entire Knight of Shadow web site before it’d disappear.

Appa Ali Apsa is the last of the Guardians of the Universe. When all of the other Guardians went away, he stayed to maintain things. It was he who fought off Hal and joined with him.
Whether this killed him or just changed his state is, at this time, unknown.
