Powers and Abilities

Artemus Gordon is a skilled spy, disguise artist and, most of all, a genius gadgeteer . He has built :

  • Hypnosis devices.
  • Rocket-powered bicycles.
  • Light two-seaters flying machines.
  • Bulletproof chainmail shirts.
  • Compact flamethrowers disguised as breasts in a female disguise.
  • And so on.

History

Even less is known about this version of Artemus Gordon than is known about the matching version of Jim West.

Description

See illustrations.

Personality

Gordon is somewhat absent-minded mad scientist type, crossed with a daring disguise expert who can pass himself for pretty much everything. He has an European manner – most would call him a dude. But underneath the fancy French, fine cooking a general lack of manly behavior lays a tough, smart, determined agent of the law.

West sometimes grates on his nerves with his bull-headed behavior. They are not close – something unusual in a buddy movie. But they certainly work wonderfully as a team.

I’ve kept the pre-production rumors that this version of Gordon was bisexual for those interested in having both characters, not just West, to be social outcast.

Quotes

(Shedding his clever disguise) “I’m not a whore, I’m a federal Marshall !”

DC Universe History

The DCU West seems to be either John-Wayne-clean (for most heroes) or downright grungy (Jonah Hex). Thus, West and Gordon would have to forge their own Genre. However, they most definitely fit in a comics environment.
