Powers and Abilities
Aswad seems to be a creature of intangible darkness. She can manifest extremely dangerous claws. These have been able to gruesomely eviscerate Luis Cisco and, in a later fight, the Doctor.
She can also :
- Expand her darkness to blind large groups of people.
- Open warps for teleportation, presumably by shifting to a shadow dimension and back again on Earth.
History
Aswad was a part of a small super-terrorist cell. The other members were the leader Hassan I-Sabbah, the twin brothers Hamat and Hamoq, al Afghani and Ash Shams. They attacked the UN building in Manhattan.
This attack had actually been aided and abetted by the criminal director of a Homeland Security agency, Ivana Baiul. She even hired the mercenary Steel Scarab to provide air support and monitoring for the assault. However, the assault was eventually thwarted by the UN’s brand new commando team, Team Achilles, and a superhuman cretin called Giant.
During the fighting, Hamat, al Afghani and Ash Shams (as well as the Steel Scarab) were killed and Hamoq captured. But Hassan I-Sabbah and Aswad easily managed to escape. The damage to the UN building was extensive, and several hostages had been killed or severely wounded. One Team Achilles member had been grievously wounded by Aswad.
Another castle
Some time later, the Authority located the base of the terrorists – Grozny, Chechnya, an area which had been under the protection of the Authority for sometime. In particular, Russian troops were banned from entering Chechnya. This status as a no-man’s-land was quite useful for terrorist cells.
The Authority took out the terrorists – Aswad was destroyed in an unclear way by the Doctor (he apparently turned her into a scattering of flowers).
Description
See illustration.
Personality
Subservient to Al Afghani, quiet, vicious and, according to the Doctor, truly evil. Does not speak much.

Advantages:
Language (Literary Arabic, presumably at least one other Arabic).
Connections:
Unspecified terrorist group (Low).
Drawbacks:
- Strange Appearance.
- Misc.: Aswad is easily disrupted by large objects traversing her at high speeds. Use her opponent’s DEX/Flight against her DEX/Body ; the number of RAPs is the number of Phases during which Aswad can do nothing but work to silently reintegrate herself. Add the opponent’s APs of Growth to Flight for this check using normal math (not AP maths) ; Shrink APs are likewise subtracted.
