Blackbelt
Context
Blackbelt is a minor villainess in the Dark Horse Comics super-hero setting that launched in 1993. She continues to appear in Barb Wire comic books.
These notes are very old. The Dark Horse Heroes setting (originally “Comics’ Greatest World”) was one of our earliest experiments in having systematic writeups coverage. Hence the emphasis on technical modelling – though in Blackbelt’s case there isn’t much else to say.
However, you can refer for context to a much more modern article that explains the Gangs of Steel Harbor entry, and thus Blackbelt’s world.

Powers and Abilities
Blackbelt, as her street handle implies, is a superb martial artist. She can deliver punches and kicks with superhuman might. Her martial proficiency is thought to be a superhuman power, unlike the Legion of Super-Heroes’ Karate Kid.
She doesn’t seem to have superhuman strength proper, for instance to lift heavy objects.
In DC Heroes RPG terms, with the Unfettered Fist Schtick, her Martial Artist-enhanced blows can be as devastating as any EV 09 rocket or machinegun. As can be surmised, she’s amply capable of shattering stone and metal with her unarmed strikes. She’s well-known for delivering flying kicks that will carry her through a brick wall – or even some concrete ones.
However, it’s not sufficient for her to clobber people with massively superhuman strength, such as Mace Blitzkrieg.
Secondary sources indicate enhanced agility and reflexes; This is reflected in our stats as Acrobatics, DEX, and Lightning Reflexes.
History
She was apparently a professional martial artist before she developed her powers.
Description
Blackbelt walks around barefoot – presumably she has heavily callused striking surfaces.
Personality
Blackbelt seems to be the smartest and most analytical member of the Prime Movers. She values intelligence and subtlety, and can figure things out when they’re less than obvious. She generally comes across as a competent fighter and operator.
Blackbelt frequently nags at Airborne, obviously thinking that he’s dumb as a brick.
Quotes
(Sarcastically commenting about Airborne’s mediocre people skills) “Subtle.”
(Kicking through a wall) “YEEEEEEEEEE !”
“You’re overreacting, Airborne. As usual.”
