Powers and Abilities
Physically Blade is very strong and quick. He’s also strong willed, intelligent and brave as well as a good leader.
Years as a Warrior has taught him a multitude of skills including combat (both armed and unarmed), skills of character interaction and driving of land vehicles, particularly the SEAL car.
As Blade’s name implies he’s extremely proficient in the use of all bladed hand-to-hand weapons such as the bowie knives he always carries.
He’s something of a stock hero figures with bits of John Wayne, André the Giant, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris.
History
The world of the Endworld is a barren, near death world. All greater cities were destroyed in the third world war. Society and humanity at large fell into savagery.
The man called Blade is part of a post-Apocalypse community that calls itself the Family. The Family was a group of survivors from the war that were brought into safety by the Family’s founder Carpenter. The Family has been isolated for several decades simply trying to survive.
Blade’s father was killed by a mutant beast while Blade was still a young boy. The kid was taken into custody by the Family’s current leader Plato. Growing into a young adult under his tutelage the two now have mutual respect and understanding for each other.
Rise of the triads
Blade grew up into a remarkably dedicated and strong man. The position as leader of the Family’s own group of Warriors dedicated to protecting the Family was natural for him. The Warriors consist of 15 men in five triads. Blade is the leader of triad Alpha, commanding Hickok and Geronimo.
On their 16th birthday all Family members get to choose a new name for themselves. It is based on a historic character with whom they feel they have the most in common. Blade apparently thought the name Blade, after his favourite weapon, would fit him best despite the fact that there are no historical persons by that name.
Blade was taught a lot of philosophy and got a good upbringing from Plato. But the fire that burns within him has led him into an active and dangerous life.
Blade often led his team on reconnaissance and gathering missions outside the Family’s base, called the Home. They used an unique, solar-powered amphibious car called the SEAL vehicle.
Random encounters
During these missions Blade and his team have met many peaceful or violent communities. Some of the these communities have joined the Family, into the Federation. Others have joined other alliances, such as the Russian Empire, the Technics, the Florida and Androxia States.
Along with his best friends, Hickok and Geronimo, Blade has destroyed smaller criminal gangs. They also took on some of the greatest post-apocalyptic dictators, including the powerful tyrant of the Civilized Zone, named Samuel the 1st.
Another lethal adversary has been the Doctor, an evil genius dedicated to controlling the wastelands. The Doctor was allied with President Samuel until his death at the hands of Blade. The Doctor was responsible for many of the mutant beasts that roam the wastelands, and he’s reputed to be the most intelligent man in the world.
Cross-country tour
The city of Las Vegas is a corrupt gambling society under the control of mob bosses. Houston was controlled by a power-mongering artificial intelligence. The larger Miami area was controlled by a mutant drug cartel named the Dragons. Seattle was controlled by two rival gangs, one of humans and one of mutants. California was regularly raided by the gang of the barbarian El Diablo.
Most of these ’villains’ no longer live as a consequence of their meddling with the Blade, the Family and their allies.
The adventures of the Warriors are too many to tell in details her (read the Endworld series by David Robbins !). But suffice it to say that Blade was destined to do great things in this new world and that his actions would change that future world forever.
Description
Blade is a gigantic man. He is usually clad in a black leather west (that shows his bare and impressively muscular arms) and a pair of brown loose cut trousers and boots. He carries a belt with two bowie knives in leather holsters around his waist.
Blade moves confidently and often inspires other people by his mere presence and his humble, civilized and kind way.
Personality
Blade is a good man and always tries to do what’s right. He’s tough with killers and criminals, killing them without hesitation, but is very kind to good people. Blade also is an excellent leader and has often worked as a coordinator or messenger between enemy groups.
He’s respected by his team-mates within the Warriors and especially his close compadres the Alpha team. He’s become well known far beyond the Home, with a reputation as a fierce and powerful warrior, but hasn’t let that go to his head. He’s still the good-hearted guy he’s always been.
Blade cares a lot about his wife and son and would, as for the rest of the family, die for them if need be. If threatened by violence or death, he’ll fight with a rarely seen ferocity, and will later regret that it had to be that way. Under such circumstances his whole world might turn red until he regains his composure.
Quotes
“There’s another option.”
DC Universe History
The world of the Endworld series is the world of the post-apocalyptic. The society of the Family could be inserted into the world of Kamandi or Jonah Hex although it is doubtful how well such an amalgam would work.
I personally recommend using some communities as a whole directly as taken from the Endworld series. The Player Characters would be either Warriors originating from the Family or characters that join the Warriors from other parts of the states either as members or temporary allies.
