Captain Nazi
(Modern era) (Part #2)
Sequence
This is the second half of this profile. Since otherwise it was a bit too long, due to the detailed game stats.

History (part 4)
Though the Society went through some difficult times, Krieger struck two important deals in 2006.
The first — with the Luthor impostor — was honoured. Society scientists started working on replicating Captain Nazi’s powers.
The second deal was with Vandal Savage. With his support Captain Nazi assembled a fighting force of superhuman neo-Nazis. Savage then had Krieger and his team destroy the bloodline of patriotically-themed American super-heroes. They massacred :
- The then-current Mister America (patterned after the WW2 one) and his relatives.
- The Westons (Minuteman and his family).
- The Heywoods (Commander Steel’s descendants).
- General Glory.
Though the JSA tried its best, there were but few survivors. These included the original Liberty Belle (Libby Lawrence), and Stripesy (Pat Dugan)
Stormtroopers of strength
Captain Nazi was arrested by the JSA, though neo-Nazi terrorists agitated for his liberation. Some even took hostages to obtain it.
Captain Nazi then escaped under unrevealed circumstances.
By this point, the Society could endow operatives with a lesser version of the Captain Nazi powers. These allowed the Society to purge some minor, unreliable operatives from its ranks. Captain Nazi handled these purges along with some of his new stormtroopers.
(This bit was presumably an allusion to the Night Of Long Knives .)
The reinforced black costume, mostly seen in Wonder Woman comics.
The Fourth Reich
When these new troops were one hundred strong, Nazi ordered this company to take over Themyscira.
The island had been evacuated by divine order some time before. Only the former Queen Hippolyte was known to be present there.
The Society wanted to take over the island, which would be an excellent base of operations. Nazi also saw an opportunity to destroy the adamantly anti-fascist Amazon culture. He therefore ordered his stormtroopers to kill and/or burn everything.
But the Nazis underestimated the might of Hippolyte. Furthermore, her daughter Diana came in, defying the odds. She brought shock troops from Gorilla City with her.
Still, the stormtroopers managed to :
- Kill roughly a third of the super-gorillas.
- Gun down a number of valued steeds (such as Pegasus-like winged horses).
- Severely wound Hippolyte.
Before they were forced to surrender and retreat with heavy casualties, they also freed four dangerous Amazon criminals — Alkyone and her Circle.
Lest darkness fall
In 2010, a greatly expanded Fourth Reich superteam struck the Justice Society.
This assault was deadly. Green Lantern (Alan Scott) died to a tailored booby trap before it even began. Though the JSA regained the upper hand, they were felled by the Darkness Engine, a super-weapon that nullified superhuman abilities.
The Fourth Reich used this master weapon to establish a power suppression field over the entire Earth. This killed many superhumans on the spot. After they took over America and turned it into a Nazi state, there was a long campaign to conquer other countries.
It involved both military campaigns and the careful manipulation of the Darkness Engine. The latter made it possible to field Captain Nazi and his Fourth Reich, with their full powers, against conventional troops.
Invasion of Themyscira.
Not a thousand years
Eventually, the entire planet fell to a new world order in black, white and red.
But years later, Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) managed to warn his past self.
Thus, when Captain Nazi and his killers launched their assault against the JSA in 2010, they found their opponents mysteriously forewarned of everything that was going to happen. They fell into a perfect ambush.
They were all quickly vanquished and arrested. The Darkness Engine was neutralised by freeing the person powering it — Green Lantern’s son Obsidian.
Answer nazi, ask again later
It is *possible* that Captain Nazi was at some later point examined by the Global Peace Agency as a potential recruit.
It is difficult to establish what was going on, whether this person was Captain Nazi, what was his time or dimension of origin, whether it was a simulacra or an actual individual, whether he was being considered for recruitment or just there as part of the recruitment of somebody else, etc..
In the Kingdom Come continuity, which seems to pretty much be the future of the DC Universe nowadays, a man who seemed to be Captain Nazi was glimpsed during a superhuman fight.
Adνеrtisеmеnt
Description
Captain Nazi is in his early 30s. He aged by a few years since he emerged from suspended animation.
He has a tendency to exclaim and curse in German. Nothing complicated, just basic, cliché German phrases and mild curse words. This is presumably a clue that he has a Hollywood Nazi Accent.
Throw a “vas ?!”, a “schnell”, a “auf wiedersehen”, a “Fraulein” and the like from time to time. Plus of course one or two “ach !”.
In the 2000s, these clichés gave way to Krieger making the occasional remark in actual German. Imagine that !
Uniform
His uniform changed from the gaudy green one to something patterned after the infamous Schutzstaffel (SS) black uniform. This took place in 2007, as the Fourth Reich was being assembled.
In 2010, Nazi returns to a variant of the traditional uniform, though in a darker green and less gaudy.
Personality
Captain Nazi sees himself as the champion of a superior Aryan race, personally mentored by Hitler. He’s out to impose a new world order — a new Reich — on a decadent, liberal, mongrelised, queered, feminised, judaised world.
He’s primarily a conqueror and a terrorist. Yet he needs to make a lot of alliances and manoeuvres to build his power base. He thus might be found conducting ordinary criminal schemes to accrue favours and/or money for his master plan.
Nazi’s main drives are :
- Contemptuous hatred.
- The certainty that he’s racially worthier than all non-Aryans, whom he views as near-animals.
- Proving how thankless and merciless he is.
- Being real smug.
Other traits
He’s a casual killer. Murdering a random passerby just because he can, or to let off steam by exterminating some unworthy specimen, is the sort of thing Captain Nazi does.
Krieger all but literally worships Adolf Hitler. He mentions him often. Nazi will boast about how Hitler told him this or entrusted him with that, gave him his code name, was a great man and a genius, and so on.
Nazi’s sensitive about his Führer. Insulting Hitler, defacing something associated with him, etc. will trigger a fit of murderous rage.
Captain Nazi has received very little character development (except under Gail Simone’s pen, of course). He’s… well, he’s a Nazi.
Quotes
“I will not take orders from a girl ! My brother says we need money to finance our plan — I will *get* that money !”
“I have faced the likes of Minute-Man, Spy Smasher and Bulletman in the past, Marvel… They were soldiers, who would kill for their cause, but you — you are but a glorified policeman !”
“Adolf Hitler gave me my mission — and my name !”
“Do you want the truth, [Black] Adam ? I begged for this assignment [to kill you]. I love breaking the neck of a dark man. And you can’t drop me, Arab. I’ll never let go.”
(Alluding to his Nazi stormtroopers) “What can be made once can be made a thousand times, young woman. A hundred thousand.”
“Imagine a world of people like me, American — for it will be the end of people like you.”

Typical pro-Captain-Nazi militiaman uniform in the 2000s. It evoked 1940s brownshirts outfits.
His struggle
During much of his career, Captain Nazi had about 30 Hero Points. He was undeniably powerful, but not that successful. He eventually developed a reputation as something of a loser.
He bottoms out after Catman takes out his eyes — for some months after that he had but 20 HPs.
As he recovers his eyesight, however, Captain Nazi becomes significantly more dangerous. When he fights Black Adam, he performs reasonably well and survives the battle. Presumably his cruising speed is about 45 HPs at that point.
After he strikes a deal with Vandal Savage and becomes the field leader of the Fourth Reich, he’s even more dangerous. By that point, Nazi has the HPs total listed in the stats block above.
War, it ain’t nothin’ but a heartbreaker
During a WWII flashback, Captain Nazi doesn’t seem to be quite as powerful as his modern stats indicate. He’s stronger and tougher than Bulletman, but not crushingly so.
Furthermore, there are hints that Nazi and Bulletman clashed often during the war and were bitter enemies.
A case can thus be made that Krieger had lower stats during that time. This is especially true since we know that he also fought the likes of Minute Man and Spy Smasher.
However, we do not currently have estimates for the stats of this version of Bulletman, to base guesses upon.
Electric eyes
After Catman’s gruesome attack, Captain Nazi had to be fitted with cybernetic goggles to restore his sight. Those were an imperfect solution, though.
The goggles could only see in black and white (a Minor Physical Restriction). All OVs for actions that required eyesight were increased by 2 CSes. This severely lowered Nazi’s combat accuracy and perceptiveness.
The Red Hood also demonstrated that hitting the goggles with high voltage resulted in a direct attack to Nazi’s nerves and brain. The goggles were physically wired to his wounded eyes.
On the other hand, while he was forced to rely on the goggles, Nazi was considered to have artificial perceptions. This made him immune to some effects such as Count Vertigo’s powers.
Nazi only wore the goggles for a brief period. He recovered his eyesight within an impossibly short time.
Society Stormtroopers
No specific name is given for the members of this unit. But since they serve the Society, are patterned after Nazi shock troops and wear buckles with the wartime Schutzstaffel (SS) insignia, we’ll call them the Society Stormtroopers.
These troops are enhanced using a treatment similar to the one used to turn Captain Nazi into a superhuman. Though they boasted that it made them just as strong as Captain Nazi or Wonder Woman, this is obviously not true. The recreated process is a watered down one.
They presumably thought that Wonder Woman had the strength of a normal Amazon fighter.
These troops were first seen in 2008. Though their first documented campaign was a debacle they could certainly be assembled again. There was about a company’s worth of enhanced troopers — nearly a hundred persons — but they took heavy casualties during the battle, probably in the vicinity of 60%.
While they proudly pattern themselves as modern-day SS, the discipline of the stormtroopers is less than ideal. One of them eventually cracked and admitted that they “weren’t real soldiers”.
Society Stormtrooper (continued)
Given the contacts and support Krieger enjoys in neo-Nazi circles, it seems likely that these troops were drawn from Nazi militias and activists throughout the English-speaking world. These guys were then given basic paramilitary training.
The stormtroopers are surprisingly well gender-integrated – unlike the historical Nazis. They’re all Caucasians, obvs.
Though most are fanatical, a few did not seem to be complete barbarians. They balked at orders to murder helpless animals and burn libraries holding irreplaceable knowledge.
It is possible that Krieger’s grand-niece Katrina was an officer among the Society Stormtrooper (see the Madame Libertine profile).
Here are possible, tentative stats for a generic trooper. The stormtroopers were also equipped with vehicles (such as flying speeder bikes, high-tech compact tanks, etc.) but little was seen of those except for a generally futuristic design.

- Large advanced assault rifle [BODY 04, Projectile weapons: 08, Ammo: 10, Telescopic vision: 01, Rec. STR 04, R#03, Advantage : Autofire] w/4 extra magazines. These rifles are quite bulky but are not very long. They seem to essentially be a machinegun compacted in half the length but with the full weight and recoil. Which is a fine shortcut when your soldiers are superhumanly strong. While the stormtroopers are not very accurate, this weapon was deadly when they rolled a double.
- Advanced grenades (x4) [BODY 02, EV (Area of Effect 0 APs) 08, R#3, Grenade Drawback].
- Advanced handgun [BODY 04, Projectile weapon: 06, Range: 04, Ammo: 10, Rec. STR 04, R#03, Limitation: Projectile weapon has No Range, use the listed Range instead] with one extra magazine. A heavy handgun, which I’d assume was chambered for 5.56mm rifle rounds.
Most stormtroopers having poor fire discipline, they will find themselves out of ammo for their rifle sooner than advisable and will have to use the pistol. In an extended battle that goes poorly some will even be reduced to use their pistol as a club if they can’t reach a vehicle carrying supplies.
