Captain Thug by Adam Warren, over a white background (DC Comics)

Captain Thug

Context

Titans: Scissors, Paper, Stone was a 1997 one-shot by Adam Warren, with a manga  aesthetic.

It’s not about the Titans per se. Rather, it takes place in the far future, where four youths pattern themselves after the Teen Titans to become heroes.

Powers and Abilities

Alec Swanwick was a well-developed athlete and martial artist. The Persona Chip used on Alec allowed the encoded personality to manifest its skills through his body as well as gaining access to all of Alec’s memories.

His major was in Aquaculture.

Description

Alec was a well-built Anglo joqboy (athlete) with short red hair and blue eyes. Casually he wore knee-length pants and tank top vid-shirts.

Alec’s costume consisted of a navy and grey armored vac suit and a navy leather jacket cloned from Jama’s skin cells (it also read “Jama’s Boy” down the front and had a small picture of her on it). He wore a small mask (Hal Jordan style) made from some navy material.

Personality

Alec was very friendly and outgoing though not always the brightest person around. He tended to be very trusting and willing to go along with others, evidenced in his whole involvement in the story.

When he was fitted with the Persona Chip though his personality was suppressed and the Chip’s came to the front.

The Chip’s persona was modeled after a mythical superhero (a certain grim Dark Knight detective). It was considered too antisocial to fit in with modern society and was only activated during great danger.

History

He was a student like the others, was on the jujutsu team, and was Jama’s ex-boyfriend. He died while saving Jama’s life.
