Powers and Abilities

As an artificial being, Champion is incredibly physically powerful. Under normal circumstances, he is strong enough to lift over 12,000 tons, and can resist a concussive force equal to several thousand tons per square inch without injury.

He is capable of flight at speed sufficient to achieve re-entry, while an artificial psionic  field muffles the sonic booms created by such speeds.

He is also fast enough to outrace Interstate traffic, and can generate an unknown form of solid energy with concentration.

As an artificial being, he has the ability to add his internal energy stores to his various powers. When adding his internal stores, such powers rise to levels roughly 15 times greater than their base level.

As a side effect of his artificial creation, radioactivity destructively interferes with the coherent energy bonds that reinforce his molecular structure. It results in a greater amount of tissue damage than an equivalent output of other forms of energy would result in.

History

The second Champion is an artificial creation of the world-destroyer known as Doomgiver.

He was found by Black Lion wandering the streets of Memphis, Tennessee, shortly after the young hero had started his adventuring career. After seeing a display of strength from the vagabond, he took the man in, and helped him find a place in a world he did not know.

For years, it was assumed that Champion was a normal man, who simply had amnesia from the time before Black Lion found him. However, it has been revealed that he is a creation of Doomgiver, who attained free will, and sought to aid the world that his master would destroy. This act of defiance wiped his memories of his time with his creator, and set the stage for his heroic career.

As of yet, only Varak and Champion know the truth.


Description

A large black man with a bodybuilder’s physique, short black hair, and black on black eyes.

He almost always wears his costume, a navy blue jumpsuit with belts crossed over his chest, and a stiff collar.


Personality

Champion is still a little naive, and finds much of human society quite challenging. He is refreshingly honest, and is very concerned about the welfare of his friends.

In a fight, Champion says very little. Part of this is the fact that he is so totally concentrated on his foes, and the other part is that he is constantly, consciously manipulating the flow of his reserve energy into the areas that would accomplish the most good.


DC Universe History

Champion really only works if Doomgiver is also used. He is quite powerful, and his Power Reserve (a power I use _very_ sparingly) can shift the balance of a fight.

If Doomgiver is not used, he could be a creation of Professor Ivo and T.O. Morrow, like the Tomorrow Woman, but a creation that manages to achieve true freedom.
