Chocolate Baron (Hostess Comics)

Chocolate Baron

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Context

During the 1970s, confectioner and cakes maker Hostess advertised in major comic books. The advertisements were full-page comics starring Marvel and DC Comics characters (and Hostess products).

These comics were nonsensical and a parody of the most absurd aspects of Silver Age  comics. They’re still fondly remembered for their goofiness.

Powers and Abilities

History

He appeared in “Wonder Woman and the Baron”, published in DC Comics Presents #28.

He has his own (chocolaty brown) castle on his own private island. He is “a crook whose love of chocolaty goodness has led him to monopolize everything chocolate he can control.”

Wonder Woman shows up to stop him, with her robot plane circling overhead. She overhears his schemes, and plans to stop him. His henchmen shoot at her, but she deflects the bullets. She tosses some Hostess™ Cupcakes, and the fight is over.

Description

A suave, debonair sort, he wears a chocolate-brown suit with a matching opera cape. He has a moustache and goatee. His hair is, of course, brown.

His henchmen are dressed in brown shirts and pants, with brown motorcycle helmets.

Personality

He wants chocolate. All of it. ”Soon I’ll control everything that’s chocolaty… and the great taste will be mine—all mine.”
