Powers and Abilities

Jareth is an accomplished wizard with partial control of everything that happens on his lair, the Labyrinth (in DC Heroes RPG terms, Continuum Control, Joined, Remote Sensing). He also crossed to our world (Dimensional Travel) when teenager Sarah invoked him, without knowing herself, to make his step brother disappear.

Jareth (David Bowie) and a crowd of goblins

History

Jareth is the king of goblins. He lives a city in the middle of a labyrinth in a fantasy dimension known as the Underground. He is not a goblin himself, or at least doesn’t looks like one, but seems human. During an interview about the character, David Bowie told that Jareth had “inherited” the job.

Escher-style perspective in the movie Labyrinth

One day, he felt in love with a girl from our world, a 14-year old called Sarah. When Sarah wished her baby brother Toby was hijacked by the Goblin King (a character from a play her dead mother had acted in), he did it so.

Sarah then wished the baby back, and Jareth gave her 13 hours to reach the centre of the Labyrinth. If she failed, the baby would be turned into a goblin.

Description

He looks awesome, of course.

An outside view of the labyrinth

Personality

Full of himself and proud of his deceptive skills, Jareth is a tricky ruler. He keeps his own rules… but will tweak them, when pushed, to win.

Quotes

“I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.”

“Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that child be taken. I took him. You cowered before me and I was frightening. I have reordered time. I have turned the world upside down. AND I HAVE DONE IT ALL FOR YOU ! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations. Isn’t that generous ?”

DC Universe History

Yet another Fairie ruler? No problem at the DC Universe! Just make sure he gets some kind of connection to the whole lot of the Faerie Realms and widen the Limitation of his Dimensional Travel to those neighbour dimensions, too.
