Doctor Sorcery (Hostess Comics)

Doctor Sorcery

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Context

During the 1970s, confectioner and cakes maker Hostess advertised in major comic books. The advertisements were full-page comics starring Marvel and DC Comics characters (and Hostess products).

These comics were nonsensical and a parody of the most absurd aspects of Silver Age  comics. They’re still fondly remembered for their goofiness.

Powers and Abilities

He “weakened the steel beams of the bridge !” They turned all orangey and wavey. Hmm. Odd.

History

He appeared in “The Flash in ‘Marathon Madman’”, published in The Brave and the Bold #183.

The Police Department is having a race. Barry Allen is ordered to participate. Dr. Sorcery meddles a little. The Flash gives him some cupcakes, telling him “Plenty more at the finish line, doc…But you can’t get there unless you help me fix the bridge.”

Flash then wins the race (Hey, no fair !) Everyone has to wait around for slowpoke Barry Allen to finish the race, which means they have plenty of time to eat more cupcakes.

Description

White hair, moustache, beard. Purple robe with stars and moons. He also wears a gold medallion which may or may not be his Philosopher’s Stone.

Personality

His only reason for committing a crime was his belief that “That ought to make the race more challenging !”
