Context

Eternals are a hidden strain of immortal, cosmically powerful humans. They were a typical bit of Jack Kirby mythology, and one of his many fantastic contributions to the Marvel Universe. They first appeared in 1976.

This article is extremely old. It is largely a conversion of TSR Marvel Super-Heroes RPG  statistics for this species, from the 1980s. It’s an useful stopgap series of numbers, but it’s not our usual research.

Powers and Abilities

Eternals have lots of powers. The main one is a complete mental control over their molecules (in DC Heroes RPG terms immunities, invulnerability, regeneration, damage capacity and their STR and BODY). But they also have various psionic  disciplines, which can be developed through efforts and training.

A crowd of flying Eternals

The psionic abilities listed in the stats are those that most Eternals have, but it is possible for an Eternal to develop other powers.

History

The history of the Eternals is a long and complex one, and you should check the various Marvel sourcebooks  for more data. As of this writing, almost all of the Earth Eternals have melded into the Uni-Mind and are exploring outer space.

The Uranian Eternals have been destroyed in the late XXth century by the Dragon of the Moon. There remain but a few Eternals on Titan after the various struggles with Thanos. Last but not least, there is Chronos, who still exists in astral space.

DC Universe History

Personally, I’ve turned all of the New Gods and other denizens of the Fourth World (except for the bugs, obviously) into Eternals. It seemed to make sense, it works well, and I’ve got a coherent Kirbyverse, which is a Good Thing™.
