Enforcer
(Carter Ericson)
Context
This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.
Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.
As to Enforcer – seeing Bil’s characters up there made me want to put some of my old original characters there. These guys I ported into the DC Universe because at the time there was only the JLA. I felt that there should be more teams.
These guys were originally used in various Champions campaigns from 1985 to 1994, and many did not adventure together as a group but some did, the original team was called West Guard, which I unwittingly swiped from Aaron Allston’s Strikeforce book. So I changed their name again. Although the Pacific Coast Guardians sounds vaguely foolish.
Please keep in mind that I created him when I was 14 🙂

History
Carter Ericson was the second son of an LAPD detective in the early 1940’s. His father often worked with some of the few West Coast mystery men at the time (any Golden Age hero on the west coast will do), Carter planned to follow in his father’s footsteps. His older brother Thomas was already in the academy.
War was brewing and the world was anxious. When the second world war did start, Thomas was sent to fight in the Pacific. Carter, only 17, was left at home.
One night his father didn’t come home. The news devastated the boy.

The inevitable fifth column
However, when Carter found out that the killers were somehow connected to the Nazis, he was furious. He followed the detectives he had found out were taking the case that his father had been working on. Then he shadowed them in an abandoned warehouse. The criminals inside were working with a low-ranking but genius Nazi scientist.
The scientist, whose name has been forgotten by Carter and history, was quite mad. He intended to use a dimensional rifter to gate future Nazi warriors to aid the current Nazis in overthrowing the world. The detectives burst in and were pinned down by the well armed agents to the scientist.
Carter, unseen, snuck to the machine and attempted to destroy it. The scientist threw the switch and Carter vanished.
The future is now
Carter Ericson appeared 55 years later in 1995. He was dressed in a superheroic costume and bore fantastic weaponry. He called himself the Enforcer. He said he was from the future…and the past. He began fighting crime in his old home town of Los Angeles.
Eventually he met Captain Blaster, the leader of the Pacific Coast Guardians. Blaster and Enforcer hit it off and Enforcer was asked to join the team. He started Ericson Incorperated and relocated to Portland with the team. He currently funds the team jointly with Hardware (AKA Blaster).
Description
What ever happened to Carter after he vanished happened in a big way. He is six and a half feet tall and built like Steel.
His costume is white with dark blue bikini trunks, boots, gloves, and head gear. His mask covers all but his lower face and his hair. His gauntlets are gunmetal gray and a pulsing bluish gemstone is set into each one.
His “E” is red, as is his goggles. Outside of his costume he wears tailored suits. Usually gray with black silk shirts and blue or red ties.
Personality
Although tight lipped about his experiences, Carter is a rather easy-going guy. He enjoys movies and music of all kinds but has a real fondness for swing, jazz, and (surprisingly) classic (60’s&70’s) rock.
When he’s the Enforcer, he is all business. But he occasionally cracks wise.
He doesn’t talk about his past as its rather confusing, but he does say he has an ex-wife, and he does visit his families’ graves on their birthdays.
Quotes
“It’s a darn good thing I’m nigh invulnerable, you jackass !!!”
DC Universe History
Pretty much the same. I ported him over whole cloth as there wasn’t much cloth to worry about.
