Context

Kim Possible was a successful children’s animated series by Disney, which aired during the 2000s. It was an adventure series, often spoofing spy stories and detective stories. It starred the titular and super-competent teenager.

I would say this profile contains S P O I L E R S, but the very title is the biggest one in the movie.

Powers & Abilities

Erik has the physical abilities of of one of Dr. Drakken’s typical synthodrones – superhuman strength and durability, and augmented reflexes. Unlike a typical (non-upgraded) synthodrone, Eric has no Fatal Vulnerability to soda, and no problems with social interaction.

Indeed, his mission was to be a charming guy, and the best boyfriend in the world, in order to distract Kim Possible.

Therefore, thanks to a great deal of research of Drakken’s part, Eric was given appropriate people skills to turn Kim’s head (in DC Heroes terms INF, AUR, Charisma, Artist, and Scholar.)

Shego has stated that, as of the movie, Drakken’s synthodrones had improved to the point where one might be able to beat her in a fair fight, if she fought fair (Martial Artist).

Erik also has the ability to deliver powerful, stunning electrical shocks from his hands (Lightning), and powerful Jumping abilities, as well as the ability to drive a motorcycle very well (Vehicles).

Finally, as a synthodrone, Erik is basically a walking pile of synthogoo in a humanoid shell. Since he has no bones, muscles, or blood vessels, he is extremely resistant to blunt attacks. At one point Kim used his face as a springboard, with no ill effect.

During Erik’s fight with Ron Stoppable, Ron pulled a handspring/kick that twisted Erik’s head all the way around. Erik merely twisted it back into place and kept fighting (Invulnerability).

However, any attacks that pierce his skin will cause his synthogoo to leak out and kill him almost instantly.

History

Synthodrone 901 is the end result of months of work on the part of teen hero Kim Possible’s archnemesis, Dr. Drakken. The scientist had improved his synthodrone formula greatly, and made an intense study of the habits and tastes of teenage girls.

“Erik” was intended both to distract Kim, so that Drakken could enact his greatest plan yet, and to be a trap.

Transferring into Middleton High School, he performed both jobs admirably, distracting both Kim and, indirectly, Kim’s partner and best friend Ron Stoppable (who harbored romantic feelings for her, and became intensely jealous of Erik).

Drakken started the Middleton aspect of his plan early, in order to eliminate Kim, and when she thwarted it, he had his assistant Shego “kidnap” Erik. Kim, naturally, went to save him and to stop Drakken’s plan.

When it looked like she had won, Erik shocked her, both figuratively and literally, revealing his true self. He and Shego also captured Ron.

Eventually, with the help of Ron’s pet Rufus, the teens escaped, and confronted Drakken, Erik and Shego. Kim quickly trounced the scientist and made way to the roof where she was to launch the EMP device that would destroy Drakken’s plan. Shego ran after her in hot pursuit, which just left Ron Stoppable and Erik.

Ron fought Erik with surprising skill, but the martially superior synthodroid proved too resilient to defeat, so Ron escaped to the roof, where Shego had knocked the EMP launcher from Kim’s hands and the two were fighting.

Erik literally burst through the roof in pursuit and nearly killed Ron, but Rufus managed to get the EMP launcher to Ron just in time for him to throw it to Kim, who shot the EMP device at Drakken’s control antenna…

…just in time for Erik, who had made another prodigious leap, to catch it. However, Rufus had secreted himself on Eric’s body after the fight with Ron, and bit Erik.

All of Erik’s synthogoo flowed out and the EMP device activated when it hit the ground, ruining Drakken’s plan.

Description

Erik is, to all appearances, an very handsome teenager with tanned skin and Grecian features. He vaguely resembles a young, handsome, not-blue version of Doctor Drakken.

His “clothing” appears to just be a hologram projected over his real attire, a fairly cool-looking jumpsuit.

Personality

Unlike his fellow synthodrones, Erik seems to have been designed to be an individual person, albeit one completely loyal to Drakken, probably because his mission required some autonomy.

Notably, Drakken and Shego treated him as being equal to a human, and as more of a colleague than a servant or henchman.

When dating Kim, Erik was kind-hearted, supportive, sharp-witted, and clever. Actually his personality resembled Ron Stoppable’s in many respects, without any of Ron’s slightly annoying qualities.

However, once his true colors were revealed, he showed himself to be arrogant and cruel, with no real feelings for Kim at all (in fact, he may have had a little something going on with Shego).

Quotes

Kim: “Erik !” (Embraces him.)
Erik: “Kim.” (Strokes her hair.) “…Actually, here, I’m known as Synthodrone Number 901.” *ZAP !*

DCU History

Actually the whole Kim Possibleverse could fit fairly neatly in the DCU, although there may need to be some explaining as to why heroes don’t show up on her adventures more often. Perhaps she’s so well-known and hyper-competent, they feel they don’t need to show up.

Alternatively, Erik could have been one of the One Year Gap Titans, a synthodrone created by T.O. Morrow and commissioned by Deathstroke as part of a plan to keep tabs on the Teen Titans, as well as to foster instability within their ranks.

Designed to resemble Superboy somewhat in appearance, and ordered to behave very much like the deceased superhero, Erik quickly ingratiated himself to the grieving Robin, which caused him to overlook Erik’s subtle manipulation of the other team members against each other.

The synthodrone erred, however, when he attempted to begin a romantic relationship with Wonder Girl, who angrily rejected him.

Although the pair reconciled shortly afterwards, and seemed to be on the way to a true friendship, the fact that the synthodrone seemed to be attempting to replace Superboy in their lives raised Robin’s suspicions, and he began thoroughly investigating Erik’s actions since he joined.

Discovering the extent of Erik’s manipulations and, even worse, that somebody had been attempting to break into his secret lab beneath Titans Tower, Robin angrily confronted Erik within his quarters.

Realizing the jig was up, Erik sought to incapacitate Robin and escape with what information he had gathered. During their struggle, one of Robin’s kicks cut a deep gash in Erik’s chest, causing his synthogoo to flow out.

Although Erik died, he had succeeded in sowing seeds of suspicion between the Titans, further exacerbating the unpleasant climate which had led to so many member resignations.
