Flintlock (Nomad enemy) (Marvel Comics)

Flintlock

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Context

Cannibal Catch and the Wanderers are two excruciatingly minor mercenary groups in the Marvel Universe. They appeared in but one Nomad/Captain America storyline.

They get short profiles because they occupy a grey space between stock, faceless thugs and “named”  characters. They’re still generic, but they get a code name, a gimmick, an individual visual and are a pip above generic elite muscle in competence.

As such they could be useful in stories where the hero(es) are closer to action heroes than to super-heroes.

Powers and Abilities

Flintlock is a muscular, athletic young woman with solid combat training and experience. She is a firearms specialist.

Like the rest of the Wanderers Flintlock prefers having situations turn into a brawl rather than a gunfight, presumably to avoid severe wounds. But if the brawl goes badly she’ll be the first one to want to escalate to firearms.

Her two guns of choice are :

  • What seems to be a large-bore, scoped hunting air rifle, used for discreet precision fire (for instance to take out motion detectors)
  • A stock-less, pistol grip 12- or 20-gauge semi-automatic shotgun with a backup pump action. On capture missions it will fire a less-than-lethal round.

The riot gun is her usual. She has trained herself to fire it one-handed, incurring no penalties for doing so in CQB  situations.

History

The Wanderers are a small team of street-level mercenaries. In 1993 they were hired by Doctor Faustus, who was then attempting to become the kingpin of Florida. The Wanderers captured the vigilante Nomad while he was drunk and delivered him to Faustus for brainwashing.

Flintlock fires her shotgun

They then accompanied their employer during an assault on the Slug’s place. The Wanderers defeated the rival mercenaries of Cannibal Catch in a brawl. But they then ran into Captain America, with predictable results.

Description

See illustration.

Personality

A confident mercenary, Flintlock seemed to be guys-crazy and kept gushing over Nomad’s physique.
