Powers and Abilities

Johnny Madrid is an experienced gun-fighter and horseman with a big reputation. He talks tough and intimidates a lot.

He’s a tricky bastard, and regularly uses concealed weapons. Like the retractable blades built into his boots, or guns hidden beneath his clothes.

History

From Dusk till Dawn III is a prequel to the first From Dusk Till Dawn. It is set in Mexico in the early 1900’s.

It begins with the escape of Johnny Madrid, a dangerous local outlaw, from the gallows. He then kidnaps the hangman’s beautiful daughter, Esmeralda, with help from Reece, an American bandita.

With the hangman and a local posse on their trail, Johnny meets up with his gang. They proceed to rob a stagecoach – which contains American author Ambrose Bierce (not this version) along with newlywed couple John and Mary Newlie.

As night falls, all parties coincidentally seek shelter in an isolated inn/whorehouse which is run by vampires. Said undead are led by the high priestess Quixtla. She targets Esmeralda – since Esmeralda is revealed to be the half-human, half-vampire princess Santanico Pandemonium, whom the vampires want as their heir.

During the ensuing gory chaos, all humans must join forces if they are to survive the night from the vicious blood-suckers.

In the end, Madrid leaves with Bierce to join the Revolutionary Army of Pancho Villa.

Description

Johnny Madrid is a slender man with black hair and brown eyes. He wears typical Wild West-style clothing complete with hat, revolvers, boots and belt. He appears to be relatively young, and often rides with bandits older than himself.

Still, his attitude and forceful persona is very popular with the Mexican gangs. Therefore, he rarely has to confront any rival.

Personality

Johnny Madrid is a brutal bandit who cares little for the lives of others. He will shoot rival gang members or anyone who opposes him with little regrets.  His usual modus operandi is to rob stage coaches and other easy targets with his gang.

He possesses nerves of steel and will not loose control even in the hardest of situations, although his pride may sometimes force his hand.

He talks hard, and gloats when in front of his men.

Johnny prefers the role of the leader, but will cooperate well within a group as well. His main redeeming quality is that he can work well in a gang under great stress.

He was only marginally affected by the horrors he faced or the things he had to do at La Tetilla del Diablo.

He appears to believe in God, but he has long since accepted that he will eventually end up in Hell for his sins.

He did soften up considerably, however, when he met Esmeralda, whom he really liked. Still, he wouldn’t easily risk his life for her or anyone else. Now that she’s gone, he is likely to return to his old ways.

Quotes

“May God have mercy on your soul.”

Hangman: (after extensive Intimidation) “Any last words ?”
Madrid: “See you in Hell…?”

DC Universe History

When Johnny left to join Pancho Villa’s Revolutionary Army, he rode into history. Madrid probably ended up as being one of the many infamous officers in Villa’s army, and would have had, at least, one run-in with Jonah Hex.

He might even become a modernized version El Papagayo, one of Hex’s arch-enemies.
