Powers and Abilities
Golden-Blade is a full-conversion cyborg, with superhuman strength and astounding durability.
As might be guessed from his name, he can extrude numerous sword-like, thorn-like or claw-like blades from his body. These can be used as melee weapons or shot as projectiles with great force. Some mechanism (presumably an dimensional portal) allows him to generate enough mass to shoot streams of blades whenever needed.
Ms. Marvel said that Golden-Blade main blades were “ionic swords”. Volleys of such blades shot from his body could penetrate Ultimo’s skin, but were too small to inflict telling damage.
Both Sapper and Golden-Blade generally keep their Hero Points for LDD. They seldom if ever use them to enhance AV.
History
Golden-Blade was a British fur trapper, working in what would become the state of Washington near the Idaho border. But during the early 1840s, his life took a dramatic turn toward the strange.
Mr. Seavey nearly died in a catastrophic accident. A Rajaki merchant spaceship crashed in his vicinity. These space aliens had just been shot down by the giant space robot Ultimo, and the impact devastated both the ship and the countryside. Only one of the Rajakis, later called Sapper, survived the crash.
Finding Seavey near death whilst surveying the damage, Sapper saved his life by transplanting what remained of him into a mechanoid body. Sapper gave him a Rajaki name that translated as “Golden-Blade”. Golden-Blade remained a close ally of Sapper to repay him for his largess.
For more than a century and a half, Sapper and Golden-Blade foraged, scrounged and stole resources. These were to repair the enormous Rajaki ship and build cybernetic bodies to download the back-upped consciousnesses of the crew.
Key resources remained exceedingly hard to obtain on Earth. However, the building of numerous nuclear reactors by Terrans apparently facilitated their work from the 1970s onward.
With help from Iron Man (Tony Stark), the pair eventually repaired their ship. They then left Earth to continue their efforts to resurrect the crew in artificial bodies.
Though Golden-Blade looked forward to adventuring among the stars, he said he and his friend would come back to Earth if they ever tired of it.
Description
Both Golden-Blade and Sapper’s appearance keeps evolving as Sapper improves and adapts the designs based on what resources they can acquire.
Personality
In the more recent appearances G.B. was using dated British English. He seemed to have a swashbuckling, adventurous, mostly heroic personality.
While he and Sapper do a lot of stealing and pillaging, it is to save the lives of the Rajaki crew. Golden-Blade will always take the time to save any bystander endangered by their actions, seeing himself as roguish but decent.
Since Sapper doesn’t speak English, Golden-Blade acts as a translator when his friend speaks in Rajaki. Yet he talks to Sapper in English, so presumably Sapper can understand but not speak the language.
He has no problem explaining who he is and what they do. Seavey seems to consider that this is a cool and exciting tale.
Quotes
“Fear not, Milady ! Golden-Blade is every inch a gentleman !”
“’tis true. In the 1840s, when these lands were the ’Disputed Territories’, I was but a humble fur trapper — a loyal subject of her Majesty Queen Victoria ! And so I remain, at least in spirit, to this day !”
“Sapper and I have spent the intervening decades gathering material and… ah… appropriating energy in an effort to revive his clan.”
“Hurry, Sapper ! We must free those trapped in that conveyance !”
