Guile (Street Fighters) ready to fight

Guile

(Tom's profile)

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Context

Guile is one of the core characters from the endless Street Fighter series of brawling video games. He has been around since Street Fighter II in 1991. Guile’s also the most likely person who took down Vega in SF2 so if you’re going to include SF characters then he’s pretty much a must.

American super soldiers like Guile are pretty common fare, but not so many of them are hell bent on revenge and willing to buck the system to see that justice is done.

All characters in this profiles series follow the Japanese naming conventions.

Powers and Abilities

Guile is an ace pilot, a world class martial artist, and a seasoned soldier. He also has the ability to channel his chi  into creating sonic blasts and jump to super human heights. Basically, ever since Nash’s death, he’s the best that the Air Force, possible even the entire United States Armed Forces has to offer.

Guile appears to be a lot more capable in various military applications, as well as the missions that has been sent on, than standard Air Force pilots. So it is highly likely (although not officially stated) that he was trained by the Air Force Special Operations division as well as possibly received training to be a Phoenix Raven.

His storyline also seems to hint that he was also enrolled in a special program originally created by his comrade Charlie Nash to train him to develop his chi manipulation abilities so that he could produce Sonic Beams and execute his flash kick. Basically; that would be where he learned all his special moves.

Soundtrack

The vintage SNES version of Guile’s famous musical theme, which you positively should listen to whilst reading this profile.

History

Street Fighter Zero 3

Guile, an ace air force pilot, received an order one day: LIEUTENANT NASH IS MISSING. FIND HIM AND BRING HIM BACK. Guile was sent to get Nash back, because Nash had gone after Vega on his own. Chun-Li tried to stop him, but Guile would have none of it. But when he found Nash, Nash had just found Vega!

There, Guile and Nash fought Vega, to force him to retreat. Guile realized the corruption within the army himself, and decided to join Nash and Chun-Li in bringing down Shadaloo. It turned out that Guile’s instinct was right, and the bombardment of Shadaloo was called off due to Vega’s bribes.

Guile in mid-leap

With Nash, Guile was about to blow up the psycho drive, but Vega attacked before they could set the explosives and get out. Vega was about to kill Guile with a psycho crusher, but then Nash grabbed Vega out of it! Nash sacrificed himself to save Guile’s life. He held Vega off while Guile escaped and everything exploded.

Left with Nash’s dog tags, Guile told Chun-Li that he’d still believe in Nash.

Street Fighter 2

Guile participated in the SF2 tournament to finish Nash’s noble deed. He made his way to Vega, and fought him, then Vega remarked how Guile had become stronger and actually asked Guile to finish him!

However, Guile was then approached by his wife and daughter, who pleaded with him to finally go back to his family, saying that killing Vega would not bring Nash back. Guile then realized his love for his family and agreed. Back home, living happily with his family, Guile remarked that he felt like he had woken up from a long dream.

Guile was the most likely candidate for the one who reached the top and became Street Fighter champion, due to the fact that his ending and the resolution to his storyline was the only one which really relied heavily on him being the one to beat Vega.

Guile doing his sonic flash kick

(Guile’s family pleaded with him to mostly spare Vega more than actually coming back, which made Guile get over Nash’s death and made him realize that his family was more important to him).

Ironically, though Guile spared Vega, Gouki killed Vega anyways.

Street Fighter 4

Guile participated in the Street Fighter 4 tournament to once again put an end to Vega’s villainy. He once again teamed up with Chun Li and his ending shows that Nash is still alive (!?!).

Where Is He Now

Guile’s back with his family and living a good normal life, probably.

Description

Guile is a tall muscular man and his very distinct “brush cut.” He has the bearing of a soldier and has the American flag tattooed on his right shoulder. He usually wears military fatigues and generally dresses the part of a soldier whether he’s on or off duty.

Personality

Guile is a man with a burning sense of justice that has allowed the death of his close comrade Nash to haunt him for years. This pushed him to train harder for the next time he’d get a chance to take Vega down.

It of course took it’s toll on him since he obviously neglected his family in the process, but when it came down to it Guile finally remembered that his family was more important and spared Vega’s life.

Quotes

“I swear on my comrade’s corpse that I will see Vega hang. ”

“This is it, at last, my comrade’s foe has come out ! I’ll send him to hell !”

(To Nash) “I’m not a hero like you, but I still can not tolerate injustice.”

Guile painted portrait

“However, at this point, all at hand is the name known as Vega.”

(About Vega’s Psycho Power) “By getting everyone to listen by force, I cannot help but feel anything but resentment for you, which I cannot overcome. ”

DC Universe History

Sure there’s always room for more super soldiers. Guile’s penchant for doing things his way and ignoring a corrupt system could easily have attracted some of the more shadowy black ops groups. He may very well have been a handler for the Suicide Squad at one point.
