This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.

Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.

Powers and Abilities

Frank is a powerful telepath. He can either keep psychic contact with somebody through thousands of miles or link more than a dozen closer minds at the same time.

He can read the subconscious part of the brain. Therefore, he’s unable to recover most information somebody knows, but he is quite good an unearthing what people don’t know they know. For instance that they have been under hypnosis, or things they unknowingly eavesdropped.

During his decade and a half long career as a member on different European security staffs and paramilitary organizations, he has developed a number of useful skills in a wide number of areas.

He is nonetheless a bon vivant and, despite deluding himself into heroic motivations, he mostly does good for the money he is paid. They would just have to pay him A LOT to do something he considers unethical.

Frank is unaware of exactly what started his psychic powers. Maybe it was the pressure of the psychological tests to be a part of the INTERPOL. Maybe it was the denial of his romantic interest in one of his male teammates (a behaviour he is again repeating, nowadays). Maybe it was the pollution over Berlin, his birthplace.

In any case, when he became aware of his mental probing ability, he chose to keep it a secret. Thus, he performed some basic benchmarking himself.

The scarcity of European metahumans would have turned him into a top agent to be put into too dangerous missions if his superiors had discovered it. Although he really hadn’t much problem in helping others with his powers, he was not going to risk his life against any supervillain. And spandex was totally out of question.

He kept a low profile, jumping between different parts of the INTERPOL and further security agencies of the developing EU. Until he met Jacob de la Font, after the brutal murder of his wife. Frank was both love-struck by the Spanish-descended widower and interested by the possibility that their secret superpowers could benefit them both.

Yes, Frank will frequently have such cold, profit-maker thoughts while others grieve or grin their teeth. He sometimes jokes he would have made such a great villain… if only he had the guts to or a real evil cause to fight for.

Hack and slash

After earning Jacob’s trust by helping him bring to justice the criminals who killed his wife Lotta, he convinced him to start a personal franchise. They became a package, a two-man-corps accepting any case. You could hire both of them or none. This rapidly became a plus to the European security agencies as they really were very good at teamwork.

Frank also managed to provoke the firing of one of them if any agency was to dispose of the other, so they always stayed together.

Frank hasn’t still made public his hidden talents, but he doesn’t go much far to hide them, anymore. Also, with Slasher by his side, Hacker is less worried to accept dangerous missions: the worse that could happen is they both died together…

A long-limbed man with short hair, a light-brown expensive suit and a checkered handkerchief around his neck. He moves his hands a lot when talking on his high- pitched voice and has an intense, intelligent look on his eyes.

Talkative, ironic, thoughtful and danger-averting… unless there is no other option, in which case he can become quite a dangerous beast. He is also gay, something he no more actively tries to disguise, although he goes to some pains to hide his heart is all Jacob’s, specially from his mate himself.

“As things are, it’s much safer to make money in legal or illegal ways than breaking the law and fighting the likes of Captain Atom or Slasher. I’m not a hero, I just do what’s needed and what I’m paid for. Don’t pay me or ask me to break the law and the most I’ll risk is to change the lightbulbs in my house.”
