Ideal
Context
This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.
Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.
This specific character was created as part of a community event to flesh out characters created by Malibu Comics readers. These characters were never actually used in Ultraverse comics. Only their name and appearance were ever given.

Powers and Abilities
Through the power of a mystic wand, young Cuban boy Jaime Segura can become a tall, handsome, powerful man. It is his ideal of what a man can be.
Ideal can only manifest for short amounts of time, usually when he is more needed. While the transformation lasts he has superhuman resilience to damage and some degree of super-strength (capable of lifting an elephant without much strain). His agility is also highly increased, as is his speed, that sometimes seems to have no limit, specially when flying.
Ideal’s senses (hearing, sight and touch) seem also to be superhuman. His skill is also better than Jaime’s as he represents all the boy would want to become and be able to do. Thus, it’s possible that in the future Ideal shows other powers or abilities.
His meta-existence as partly-mental creation makes him specially susceptible to some kind of mental assaults.

Other assets and limitations
On his side, Jaime is a sensitive boy, taller than usual for his age, with a knack for painting and mechanics, as much as other fine manipulations. Since the transformation he has become more in tune with reality than before. Sometimes in the shape of dreams of disasters to come, more commonly through better understanding others’ feelings (Awareness, Empathy).
The downside of it all it’s he’s become more vulnerable than usual to magic. His communion with creation is also disrupted by the emotion opposite to his super-idealism: despair.
Yet another manifestation of Jaime’s idealism are the gadgets that Ideal sometimes creates when needed (Omni-Artifact).
If Ideal takes damage, he heals while “inside” Jaime. In DC Heroes RPG terms, 1 automatic AP of every condition per Recovery Roll allowed.
History
Three centuries ago, the original inhabitants of Cuba were hunted down and abused both by Spanish slavers and American buyers. A mix of Cuban and African magic called to existence the Wand of Change. It was meant to create a warrior to fight against the oppressors.
The occultists never had an occasion of using the wand. They were surprised by Spanish soldiers while the metal of the Wand was still cooling from forging. When the fight ended, none of the rebels was left alive. The wand finished in the sand, to be buried for 295 years.
Jaime
In 1998, young Cuban boy Jaime Segura discovered the wand while drawing on the sand. When he touched it, a magical transformation happened. He became the powerful being further called Ideal. That occurred just in time for him to fly to Montevideo, to save as many people as he could from Vandal Savage’s atomic bomb.
It was the only time he would be Ideal for such a long time (almost 4 hours). After that, he could just do it for 30 seconds. Once it has run out, the power is unavailablefor seemingly random time gaps.
Both Cuban and American politicians have tried to make of him a symbol of their personal interests, something both Jaime and Ideal deeply dislike.
He later gave chase after- the attack of his island by a crazy commando. After flying after them at 50 times the speed of sound he stopped in a San Francisco’s skyscrapper’s roof to spot the gang. But his 30 seconds then ended, letting him stranded in the city in Jaime’s body for some time.
Description
Jaime wears casual clothes, most usually jeans and a red shirt with black squares.
His Ideal suit is kind of a variation in that pattern, mixed with Cuba’s flag colours and star, which he shows on his chest.
Personality
While they share a good, honest heart, the belief that there’s always a chance to success if one really tries and a distaste towards authority and power abuse, there are some differences between both egos.
Jaime is more shy, although that’s quickly changing as he gets more of Ideal’s personality. He is also more close to uncertainty on moments of danger, although knows when to make use of Ideal and when to rely on his own skills and intuitions.
Ideal is quite experienced. He was a bit astounded when he first appeared, but it a couple of minutes was in full control of his powers. Despite his physical might, he is no fool and has in fact extensive scientific knowledge that uses to his best.
For example, he makes good use of his 30 seconds of existence thanks to his superspeed. He is also quite capable of transforming when Jaime hears of a distant catastrophe, flying there at top speed (pushing), helping stop it or saving people, and returning to Cuba in time for the transformation to end.
Quotes
“I wear my flag, but I’m no party’s flag. I’m the flag of those in need, of those with dreams, of Cuban songs, not Cuban fights.”
“Wand of Change, I know I am/the ideal of my heart.”
