Igor was an assistant, handyman, adviser and sometimes strategist for a PC group in an old RPG campaign of mine, which involved the New Warriors a lot. You might wish to reuse him in campaigns of your own if you like him…

The East German super-soldier program and the experimental super-gorillas mentioned below are actual parts of the Marvel Universe.

Igor the Gorilla is a gorilla. A genetically engineered gorilla from Eastern Europe. Hey, don’t blame me. Talking gorillas are an important, respectable part of the DC Universe, too.

He was part of an East German “Super-soldier” program, which tested its mutagenic methods on 12 lowlands gorilla. It worked, resulting in 12 super-strong and super-smart apes. The lab and notes were later destroyed by Henry Pym, so no Super-Soldiers were produced.

Igor and Corielle

Igor was among the 12. Like them became a military/scientific aide at the Bratislava complex. It was there he met Corielle Biguy, an East German spy. When Corielle was sent to the US to gather intelligence about the EXternals, he did not get the clearance to go with her.

However, when she defected, he defected too. He found her in dire straits : no money, no home, lots of people after her, and with plenty of confusing subplots floating around.

They stuck together, and made it, being recruited in an experimental team. But that’s another story.

Igor camouflages by wearing ordinary coveralls with broad leggings, novelty slippers imitating animal feet, gardening gloves, and a big hoodie.

His hoodies usually are merchandise from the rock band the Gorillaz .

Igor is a pro in close combat and military medicine. He knows plenty of stuff about terrorism and cell organisation, and he’s quite smart overall.

As gorillas go, he’s cool, smooth and ironic, and certainly wise beyond his years. He’s proficient at shooting battle plans full of holes, and can be very helpful when devising a strategy – if you can keep your cool.

Among his hobbies are watching ice hockey matches, driving the team’s monster semi, and educating Naomi, a 12-year-old runaway the team took with them. He cooks a mean goulash, and spends plenty of time sleeping, like most gorillas.

Part of his wisdom comes from liberal use of lucid sleeping techniques, which he learned in med school.
