Jade of the Bounty Hunters (Image Comics)

(Bounty Hunters)

Generic super-ninjette type with a generic name, but we were covering the rest of the Bounty Hunters and the book was open. She first appeared in 1995 Wildstorm comics.

For more context, see the Coda organisation profile.

Powers and Abilities

Jade is a Coda warrior, and as such has mastered all the combat skills. Her nickname is Blade Mistress.

The Bounty Hunters are a group of alien mercenaries. Their roster is One-Eyed Jack (the leader), Jade, Rake and Hardball.

Their first appearance was a prelude, a long-term foreshadowing event, for the “Fire From Heaven” crossover in the Wildstorm Universe. At this time, they were chasing the Qeelocke, an animal able to open interdimensional  gateways. A bounty was being offered by Damocles.

Their hunt led them to our Earth where they clashed with Gen 13. The confident Bounty Hunters demonstrated that they weren’t so good at fighting superhumans. So the teenagers managed to kick their ass back to where they came.

We don’t meet them before the crossover itself. The Hunters were employed by Damocles as a regular mercenary unit. They also did abduction missions such as bringing to Damocles the Tsung family.

She’s a beautiful Asian woman. Her hair is brown and braided in the manner of some American Indians. She wears a small red tunic letting show her legs, arms and back. Her back is covered with the tatoo of a red dragon.

She fights with the traditional Coda clef blade.

It is not know why such a fighter banded with One-Eyed-Jack and his Bounty Hunters in the first place. Obviously, she’s a renegade Coda, as she constantly fights with a clef blade, which is supposed to be the ritual duelling weapon.

Anyway, she shows the same ruthlessness and haughtiness of her fellow Coda sisters.

DC Universe History

In the DCU they’d probably simply be a bunch of special agents from Darkseid. Jade would be a Female Fury hopeful and Hardball would be related to Sleez.

They would have appeared during the “Legends” arc, performing some not-so-successful work for Godfrey. Mostly softening up the heroes and being the spearhead for normal parademon troops. They appeared again during the Suicide Squad’s adventure on Apokolips, but where defeated again.
