Powers and Abilities
Benetti is a superhumanly strong and durable brick . He also demonstrated great speed and combat prowess. He’s tough enough to have defeated Iron Munro.
Despite his advanced age, he doesn’t seem to have slowed down a whit and is as strong as ever.
According to Jack Knight, “[when] he fights he’s like a drum solo. Raw power. Old guy, too. He’s like a panther”.
History
Jake Benetti (nicknamed “Bobo” by the police, a name which he hated) was a charismatic American supervillain from the 1940s until 1960 or so. He was mostly known as a “plainclothes guy” who didn’t wear a costume but was still a villain. Benetti mostly robbed banks and fought heroes.
His claims to fame include a victory over Iron Munro, another over the Doom Patrol’s Negative Man, and fights against Green Lantern (Alan Scott) and Starman (Ted Knight).
However, in the early 1960s, Benetti caught his much beloved wife in another man’s arms. He went crazy, killing them both. Benetti called the police and surrendered after he came to his senses. He spent more than 30 years in prison.

Out of the big house
When he got out, Benetti was uncertain – that he truly had been punished enough for his wife’s death, and that he could fit into the modern world. After a day in Opal city’s streets, he decided the answer to both questions was “no”, and attempted to rob a bank in order to get arrested.
However, the Royal Flush Gang hit the exact same bank at the same time. And at this point, Jack Knight intervened.
Benetti sided with Starman in knocking the Gang out. In the fray, he was finally able to let go of his guilt.
The bank made Benetti a supervisor for their security, as a PR move. Bobo now works in Opal city.
Description
Benetti still looks like a man in his late 50s. And his body is not that different than it was when he was 30.
Personality
Mostly an old-fashioned, 1950s made man, although he doesn’t seem to have cosa nostra connections. He looked like an extra from Guys and dolls or maybe Paul Newman in The Hustler .
The age and jail time have made him a somewhat bitter, wise and strongly nostalgic. He enjoys bars, Sinatra, dames and the like. He’s probably played by De Niro.
