Janet

Janet “Greenback Jane” Bai

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Context

Black Lagoon is a 2002+ manga  series, which began receiving its anime  adaptation in 2006. It is about a band of modern-days pirates and mercenaries. They are based in Roanapur, a mobs-dominated pisshole of a city in Thailand.

Black Lagoon is steeped into the aesthetics of ultraviolent 1990s and early 2000s action movies and “gun opera” movies, with a dark overall tone. It is a seinen manga, meaning that it is aimed at older and more kanji-literate readers than shōnen manga (aimed at boys).

History

Janet (a.k.a. “Greenback Jane”) is an Indian counterfeiter hired by American gangsters out of Florida. She was to make copies of the American 100 dollar bill. As she is very precise in making copies, and pays attention to even the most minor details, she also takes far longer to create the masters than the gangsters would like.

After they shoot one of her partners, Jane escapes and ends up hiding in the Church of Violence. They almost kick her out, but not before getting into a gunfight with the gangsters chasing her. After the gangsters leave, Eda sends Jane to a hotel in town, telling her she’ll be safe there.

Eda then leaks this information to the Roanapura underworld. But not to worry, the plan Eda’s cooked up has worked four times out of seven…

Janet Bhai appears in Episodes 16-18 (“Greenback Jane”, “The Roanapur Freakshow Circus”, and “Mr. Benny’s Good Fortune”). In Episode 19, “Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise”, she’s started an Internet romance with Benny.

Description

Janet Bhai is a pretty Indian woman with tanned skin and blond hair. She wears glasses, has a nice figure, and tends to dress in blouses and skirts.

Personality

Jane is a perfectionist (or so it seems). She won’t allow the gangsters to use her counterfeit money plates until they are perfect. Not to mention her demands for the exact paper, printer type, inks, and so on needed to make her fake bills.

She won’t back down from threats (well, not without protest), and wants to do things her way. Of course, she’s not an idiot, and knows when to compromise. She just won’t be happy about it.

Quotes

“What ? What’s going on ?”

DC Universe History

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that you can insert her dang near anywhere under similar circumstances. I’d advice that whatever hero group she runs to be a bit on the lower powered side of things and fairly well known. Given the fact that she is treated like a joke character it might be funny to have her run to the Blue Beetle or Booster Gold.

Of course she can always stumble on any old group of heroes and beg for their help.

Marvel Universe History

Again basically the same thing here. There are plenty of lower powered publicly known hero groups such as Heroes for Hire and the like that she might run to for help.
