Powers and Abilities
Professor Katharine Corrigan is one of the world’s leading experts on folklore and occult history, and the author of nearly two dozens books on the subject.
She also has picked some field skills at dilettante level. Such as basic handgun usage, basic athletic skills and, most useful of all, running like hell.
History
Corrigan’s first contact with the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense was in 1984, when she was pursuing her doctorate at New York University. She was hired as a consultant on vampire legends in Central Europe.
After becoming a professor at the NYU, she continued to take consulting jobs for the Bureau. She even took part in a field mission in 1994.
She and Hellboy became fast friends. She thus reinforced her ties with the Bureau until she became a full member in the late 1990s, and Assistant Director of Field Operations in early 2000.
In early 2002 she became Director of Field Ops, a job with responsibilities she finds quite heavy.

Personality
Professor Corrigan is highly intelligent, but always has had trouble turning book-learning into field practice. She has a tendency to lecture, but the information she gives is almost always useful.
She has good relations with everyone in the Bureau, including the nonhuman agents, and is still close to Hellboy.
Since she’s not a very physical person, she’s quite cautious in the field. But her mild curiosity and strong stubbornness may lead her into trouble.
