Kihei Soge (DC Heroes RPG) dual-wielding daggers

Kihei Soge

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game
  • In response to requests for more characters (Thx Chris and Roy !), here’s some more of the characters from my son’s (soon to be) first game. I thought the best idea would be to start with his actual character.
  • It’s odd how things work out. I’ve introduced a number of people to gaming, and I’ve always had the same problem with first-timers. They want to make their first character way too powerful.
  • My younger brother is a good example. His first chr (Marvel Classic RPG) had everything at 100. Zack didn’t do that, in fact, I had to persuade him to step up his Power level.
  • Some who are interested in anime (like Tom) might note that the character is heavily influenced by the Naruto series. I learned a lot about future w/u’s from that series by figuring out how things would work for this chr.

  • Real Name: Kihei Soge
  • Marital Status: Single
  • Known Relatives: None
  • Group Affiliation: None, formerly Genin of the Hidden Mist Village
  • Base Of Operations: Mobile
  • Height: 5’7” Weight: 130 lb. Age: 14
  • Eyes: Brown Hair: Blond

Powers and Abilities

Kihei is a talented Genin (apprentice Ninja), skilled in the areas of infiltration and espionage. He is especially skilled in the area of Weaponry, and like most ninja of his vilage, Kihei has mastered several semi-mystical ninja arts (or Jutsu), granting him the abilities to avoid detection or distract and/or confuse his opponents.

Kihei has a specific talent for jutsu related to weapons, enhancing the effect, range, or damage effects of his weaponry; or even to summon weapons out of nothingness. His most powerful jutsu is his Bladestorm, a swirling vortex of tiny bladed weapons that can reduce stone to gravel in seconds.

It is so powerful that he has difficulty using it without the proper scroll.

Not much is currently known about Kihei of the Soge Ninja Clan of the Hidden Mist Village (mostly because his Player hasn’t decided those things yet ^_^ ). It is known that he was trained in the Village Hidden in the Mist, somewhere in Japan. He is a genin, an apprentice level ninja, but for some reason yet to be revealed, he has left his village and currently is operating in the United States.

Recently, Kihei was hired by crimelord Colin Hawksmoor, leader of the Irish Wolfhounds gang. A rival known only as the Black Claw has been interfering in his group’s operations, and Rather than getting a number of his own best men killed, Hawksmoor decided to farm out the investigation to an outside agent.

Considering the amount of Powered talent that Black Claw has at her disposal, the battles should be epic.

No details as yet.

(Watching target through a scope) “Go ahead. Make a mistake. I have time…”

All Rituals (called a Jutsu in the game world) are Fatiguing (-1), Have 1 Phase casting time, and with certain exceptions, require the correct hand signs to cast. Kohei knows the following:

  • Clone Jutsu: Illusion: 08, creates a Duplicate Only, 45 HP

  • Free Weapons Jutsu: Projectile Weapons: 08 (Needs No Object of Opportunity) (10 HP)

Bladestorm Ninja Scroll [BODY: 01, Projectile Weapons: 08, Sharpness: 03, Area Effect, 3 rounds to Cast (1 round to draw and open the scroll, 1 round to read scroll and perform any hand signs, activates on the 3rd round), Can be used only Once. (35 HP)
Bladestorm creates a swirling vortex of tiny edged weapons that attacks a large area, and thus must be used very carefully, as it will affect allies as well as enemies.] Once he has used the copy, it takes him a minimum of Three days (16 AP’s) to transcribe a new copy of the scroll, plus a Wealth check vs 9/9 (The effect rating of the Scroll). Since the cost is quite high with respect to his Wealth Level, he will typically only have one on hand at any time, and once used, it is relatively hard to replace.

New rules – Mysterious Background Aka VERY Secret ID [15 points]

A higher value of Secret Identity, MB is used where the character in question has no real legal identity, or where the person’s background is so shrouded in mystery that they are essentially defined by their hero (or villain) persona.

This seems like an advantage, but there is also a definite disadvantage in that either the character will need to take extraordinary measures to preserve this anonymity, or that they essentially have no legal identity, and cannot procure housing, credit, education, legal documents, etc, except by illegal means.

Rogue has this Drawback, as once did Wolverine and Magneto.
