Mechagorgon
Context
While Hydra is always a nice opponent (and has been fashionable for the last few years), they need special technology to be challenging foes in most campaigns. Fortunately, they *have* a lot of special gear.
Mechagorgon is one of the most successful. In fact it was so good it appeared for but a few panels, in a 2007 Iron Fist story.
Powers and Abilities
Mechagorgon seems to be a robot, vaguely shaped like a metallic giant spider.
It has eight big limbs and two small ones. The small ones seem manipulative while the big legs all end with enormous scythe-like blades, each almost as big as a man.
Mechagorgon can move its legs with amazing speed, coordination and accuracy. Even one of the very best martial artists on the planet, Iron Fist (Daniel Rand-K’ai), did not have a chance.
History
Mechagorgon was deployed by the Hydra soldiers working undercover as Wai-Go Industries. The mecha was a trap in case Iron Fist figured out who was behind Wai-Go’s business.
It performed admirably, shredding Iron Fist and nearly killing him. Only the intervention of Luke Cage and the care of the Night Nurse saved Danny.
This part of Hydra, run by Wai-Go Industries’ boss mister Xao, seemed much more efficient than the usual. Thus there is a good chance that Mechagorgon is exclusive to them.
Mechagorgon later faced the Steel Serpent (Davos) in combat. Being much more prepared than Iron Fist and having consumed two Daughters of the Crane, Davos took Mechagorgon out, perhaps even destroying it.

Design Notes
Iron Fist did not expect such high stats in a machine, and thus did not spend Hero Points. By the time he realised he was in serious trouble, he was getting Stunned every Phase.
