Powers and Abilities

Metabo is huge, musclebound and sports four arms. He has considerable superhuman strength and durability.

His most vicious power is that he efficiently absorbs the Eternals’ most natural weapon, their eye beams. Metabo tends to reuse the energy as red eyebeams of his own. These can easily prove more powerful than the energy that was originally unleashed against him.

In DC Heroes RPG terms, excess APs from this absorption will be pumped into STR. From time to time, Metabo will carefully use enough APs of Regeneration from his Power Reserve to gain a recovery roll within a single Phase, then resume pumping up his offensive powers.

A good part of Metabo’s success was that Eternals were caught flat-footed. They did not expect that kind of power from a Deviant mutate and had difficulties not using their most instinctive weapon. But it is likely all are now aware of Metabo through the Uni-Mind.

History

Metabo was the latest fighting mutate designed by Kro’s scientists. When a party of Eternals and Mutates accompanied by Thor (Thor Odinson) broke out of captivity and burst into the throne room of King Tode, Kro had Metabo emerge from a nearby cell.

The Eternals were overconfident, expecting just another musclebound monster. Thena and Sersi opened up on Metabo. This didn’t even slow him down, and blasted them both unconscious with return fire. He then took out Ransak the Reject and Karkas, the later of whom had time to deduce Metabo’s power but not to tell his comrades.

Even mighty Ikaris, who charged in, was obviously going to be defeated until Thor stepped in. Metabo could absorb Eternal energy all day long, but soon ran out of steam against Thor, and was handily defeated.

Personality

A presentient brute, but with strong combat acumen. Metabo can only roar, and seldom does, mostly staying silent.

Powers:
Energy absorption: 15, Energy blast: 00, Extra limbs (x2): 11, Growth: 01, Power reserve (Energy blast, Regeneration, STR): 15, Regeneration: 00

Bonuses and Limitations:

  • Energy absorption feeds Power Reserve (+3).
  • Power Reserve can only be fed by Energy Absorption (-5, BC is 75).
  • APs of Power Reserve can only be used for two Dice Actions, after which they vanish. Yes, this implies keeping a tally of many APs of been used once and how many have not been used yet. Sorry about that (-2).
  • Energy absorption is limited to cosmic energy as emitted by Eternals, though it may work against other kinds of cosmic energy – such as those used by Galactus’ Heralds (-2).
  • Power Reserve to STR is only half as efficient as usual – 12 APs pumped in Metabo’s STR will “only” result in a STR of 11+(12/2)=17.
  • Growth is Always On and Already Factored In.
  • Energy blast includes AV (+1 or +0 depending on house rules).

Skills:
None demonstrated.

Advantages:
Iron Nerves.

Attack Vulnerability (-4CS RV vs. the energies covered by his Energy Absorption), Distinct Appearance, Misc.: Metabo is presentient.
