The Monster is a Champions character. Champions is one of the big classic super-hero tabletop RPGs, with a first edition released in 1981. As of this writing they’re on the sixth edition of the game, system and setting.

The concept is simple and useful – slasher horror movie monster who’s tough enough to take on super-heroes. Surely everybody needs one ? So let’s have short notes about this bloke.

Powers and Abilities

“The Monster” is a nightmare about a mad slasher made real. It is extremely dangerous even to seasoned superhumans. It’s is insanely strong, fast and fierce, and quite cunning and stealthy.

The fear it exudes is nearly palpable. It is likely to send even experienced cops, soldiers and the like running.

Nobody has any idea of what the Monster is. Demon, possessed man, robot, golem, mutant, alien…


“The Monster” simply appeared one night. Its reign of blood and terror has left many corpses in its wake.


The monster’s skull is glowing an evil green. Its claws are perpetually dripping with blood.


Pure, unwavering inhuman mad slasher evil.

The Monster rarely communicated with anything except for the occasional roar of anger or chuckle of fiendish glee.



DC Universe History

The Monster is a gothic super-horror encounter. It is intended to be scary and horrific even for your typical super-hero team unless it’s the JLA or the Avengers.

It fits reasonably well into the Vertigoesque side of the DCU – and I’d bet the Sandman knows a lot more about this nightmare than anybody else.
