My Little Pony characters and setting
(Apple Jack, Flutter Shy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle)
Context
My Little Pony is a positive show for girls with a bit of anime styling sprinkled in. A character writeup could generate some interest.
Screwattack.com created a Deathbattle with the Transformer’s Starscream versus MLP’s Rainbow Dash. CBUB had a few battles with various ponies, Rainbow Dash and others had overall winning records. To all the Bronies out there, I get it.
This profile only covers the first 4 seasons and 2 feature films but may be updated later. This will not be a comprehensive My little pony guide. I’m only touching on some aspects of the show while covering the six main characters and the Elements of Harmony in one article: Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Flutter Shy, and Apple Jack. Sorry to those who wanted Spike, he’s not here.
I’ll be pointing to specific chronological episodes whenever needed.
There are plenty of S P O I L E R S found within.

Overview
Apple Jack is a hard working Earth pony with a strong southern drawl. She is manager of her families’ apple orchards, Sweet Apple Acres. She’s made knocking apples from trees an art form and can nearly empty a tree with a single kick. She is known for her stubbornness but also her honesty, she’s also the strongest pony of the six. Years of apple-bucking have given Apple Jack one powerful rear kick!
She is also the Equestrian rodeo champ ten years in a row, but gained no new blue ribbons in her latest rodeo. She enters giant apples in the Appleloosa state fair each year as well. Apple Jack has the appetite of two full grown stallions. She owns a small pet Collie named Winona.

Minor Irrational Attraction to animals, being shy and sensitive.
Equipment:

Previous Stats
- The following drawbacks are lost by Season 2: episode: 10 The secret to my excess – Loss Vulnerability: If Flutter Shy is experiencing fear she will lose her flight power.
- This drawback returned with a vengeance in Season 2: episode 22 Hurricane Fluttershy but she had overcome it again by the end of that episode.
- Serious Irrational fear of heights.
- Hero points were 10 until the end of Season 2.
- It wasn’t until Season 4 Episode 16 It Ain’t Easy Being Breezies that Fluttershy used her tail as an extra limb.
- Season 4 Episode 18 Trade Ya Flutter Shy gained her Bird Call and lost her Bear Call [Body 01, Chameleon: 04, Bonuses & Limitations: Chameleon may only copy a bear’s roar]. The bear call is a whistle with a bear’s head at the end. When blown the sound is a bear’s roar. Quite useful for clearing crowds.
Stare Master
Fluttershy rarely uses this ability but when she does animals are compelled to obey her. It’s hinted that she could use her stare on ponies as well but it wasn’t demonstrated in the series.
She did try it on Discord who seemed affected at first then laughed it off showing that he was too strong for her control or immune to it. Other mythical creatures like the Cockatrice are more resistant than normal animals but are not immune (+1 FC).

- Other Aliases: Clutter-shy, Flutter-Bat (when a spell mishap caused her to take on the aspects of a vampire fruit bat), Flutter-guy (when her voice deepened to a baritone under the effects of a plant called “Poison-Joke”).

Fluttershy avoids confrontation and will most likely give in to any argument…unless there are animals involved.

Bonuses and Limitations:
- Danger Sense is Minor Marginal, however once Pinkie Pie pays its cost she retains the power for the entire adventure. Her Danger Sense is predicated by some part of her body twitching. She calls it her “Pinkie sense”.
- Gravity Decrease is Minor Marginal.
- Recall is almost exclusively used by Pinkie Pie to remember individual qualities of the ponies of Ponyville and their birthdays!
- Shrinking is always on (-1).
- Stretching: At times, Pinky Pie seems to be made of rubber, she rarely actually stretches but always gains the bonus to RV. Her mane and tail are also affected bouncing back into place. At least twice she’s used her stretching for grappling.
Skills:
Acrobatics: 06, Artist (Actor, Cooking, Singing, Stand-up Comic, Turkey’s gobble, Musician: practically any instrument): 04, Charisma (Persuasion): 04, Occultist (Occult knowledge): 03
Note:
Pinkie Pie’s Occultist skill; she doesn’t know as much as say Twilight Sparkle but Pinkie does know the mysterious and rare things that no one else seems to know. Perhaps she is doing some type of Environment Alteration to introduce something new; GM-approved of course.

- Other distinguishing features: Coat is pink! Pinkie Pie speaks with an extra high-pitched voice and bounces continuously.
- Cutie Mark: Two blue balloons and one yellow balloon.
- Element of Harmony she represents: Laughter.
Overview
Pinkie Pie loves throwing parties. She is a super-excitable, adorable, super-happy and totally random Earth pony. Definitely the most animated of the six. She’ll move in and out of the Comedy genre practically at will, except during combat.
Pinkie Pie was born on a Tuesday. She and her sisters grew up on a dull and dreary rock farm outside of Ponyville. She was transformed when she spied Rainbowdash’s first Sonic Rainboom. This inspired her to throw her first party for her family and earn her a cutie mark.
Pinkie is the kind-hearted prankster. She has the incredible ability to eat way more than is physically possible or to pop out of places you wouldn’t expect, like leaping out of Rarity’s hat, or out of a birthday cake she just set down! Her galloping speed is super-natural and in later episodes looks a lot like a super-speedster.
She’s quite capable as a one-man-band able to play ten instruments at once and one of the best ice-skaters in Ponyville. Pinkie Pie has a one year old pet baby alligator, named “Gummy” because she has no teeth. When a mystery arises Pinkie fancies herself a sleuth after the likes of Sherlock Holmes, though her conclusions could use some help. I said totally random, right?
Rainbow Dash
Voiced by Ashleigh Ball.

Bonuses and Limitations:
- Air Control is contingent on Flight (-1).
- Air Walking is contingent on clouds being under her (-1).
- Bomb is contingent on Flight (-1), a rainbow wave flows out from the point of impact to a maximum of 10 APs distance. It is accompanied by a quickly dissipating rainbow-colored mushroom cloud.
- Flight is winged (-1).
- Lightning is contingent on Weather Control and requires Rainbow Dash to kick a cloud (-1).
- Recall is only useable to recall something she saw while flying (-1).
- Shrinking is always on (-1).
- Skin Armor is only effective against falls (-1).
- Sonic Beam has area effect (+1) requires Rainbow Dash to kick a cloud (-1) and represents thunder.
- Swimming is contingent on flight (-1), If Rainbow Dash is flying when she hits water she may move through the water with her flight speed as if she is still flying (Swimming). She can even fly right back out of the water and continue into the air at the same speed. Otherwise, she has a normal swim speed.
- Transmutation may only be used to remove pollutants from the air (-1) and is contingent on Rainbow Dash flapping her wings (-1) and has Area Effect (+1).
- Weather Control is contingent on Flight unless she’s able to smash clouds. (What she did by kicking the clouds and clearing the sky would be in the 1-2 range) easy. Rainbow dash may also cause changes in the weather in areas as small as 01 AP. So, it rains or shines on a single pony.
Skills:
Artist (Aerial maneuvers): 06, Artist (Actor, Singer, Timber Wolf’s howl): 04, Martial Artist (AV/EV, +1 init): 07, Weaponry (Lance)*: 05
Advantages
Familiarity (Camping).
Connections:
Ponyville flight teams/Wonderbolts (High), Ponyville friends (High).
Drawbacks:
Unfamiliarity (Lasso), Serious Irrational Attraction to Coolness.
Sonic Rainboom
Rainbow Dash may perform a legendary aerobatic maneuver known as a Sonic Rainboom. Some thought it was just an old mare’s tale, but Rainbow Dash made it happen when she was just a filly. It’s not an easy trick for a pegasus to pull off and only Rainbow is known to be able to do it today.
The result, beyond Rainbow Dash flying faster, is at the point of breaking the sound barrier a rainbow colored shockwave blasts out from that central point and a rainbow wake trails behind her that will remain in place for at least a few rounds.
Until Season 2 Episode 26 A Canterlot Wedding: Part 2 Rainbow Dash had to push her flight past the speed of sound (09APs) or higher to trigger her Sonic Rainboom. She had 07 or 08 APs of flight at that time. In Rainbow Dash’s case if she failed to make the push her flight only burns out for the moment and she crashes, usually with embarrassing results. She doesn’t have to regain APs of flight per usual burn-out rules, they are immediately restored.
She can now perform the stunt effortlessly.
Previous Stats
- The Bomb power did not show up until Season 2 episode 3 Lesson zero.
- Flight was rated at 08 APs until Season 2 Episode 26 A Canterlot Wedding: Part 2 when she was nonchalant about being able to pull off a Sonic Rainboom. She can now do this maneuver at will.
- Hero points were 15 until the end of Season 2.
- Until Season 3: Episode 6 Sleepless in Ponyville Rainbow Dash only displayed a Martial Artist (EV only): 05.
- Design note – Season 4 Rainbow Dash earned another AP of Influence but not Aura when I realized she’s always been a coach who can motivate but seems to end her speeches with negative reinforcement.
Background
- Other Aliases: Rainbow Crash, Dashie, RB.
- Marital Status: Single.
- Known Relatives: None.
- Height: 4’0” Weight: 100 lbs.
- Eyes: Dark pink Hair: Red, orange, yellow, green, purple and blue, like a rainbow.
- Other distinguishing features: Blue Coat.
- Cutie Mark: Cloud with a rainbow colored lightning bolt.
- Element of Harmony she represents: Loyalty.
Overview
Rainbow Dash is a pegasus. In Equestria, clouds really do bunch together into cute little cotton ball shapes and Rainbow Dash can lie on them and relax or bounce up and down on the dark ones to cause rain, lightning or thunder.
Rainbow Dash was always the cool kid and class clown; she had a snobby griffon friend named Gilda. When given an ultimatum of choosing Gilda over her Ponyville friends Rainbow made the right choice, choosing her new friends.
Rainbow Dash is an amazing flyer able to instantly hit her top speed from a stand still. As she flies she will often have a rainbow trail following her, if close to the ground this can be rainbow colored flames.
Rainbow Dash had no pet throughout the first season but in Season 2 episode 7 May the best pet win! she gained a tortoise named Tank after he proved to be a tenacious friend. He now flies around with helicopter blades strapped to his back.
Rainbow Dash’s favorite book is Daring Do a pony archeologist (Indiana Jones style) written by A.K. Yearling (a nod to J.K. Rowling). A.K. Yearling turned out to be the real-life Daring Do and the adventures she writes are real!

This power allows her to harvest enough gems to make her a comfortable living
Rarity often uses her Telekinesis to perform her seamstress skill. Rarity with her southern accent is reminiscent of Scarlett O’Hara from Gone with the Wind. Her pet is a feisty white cat named Opalescence.

Drawbacks:

Previous Stats
- Very early in the first Season, Teleportation was a mere 03 APs. Twilight seemed queasy after teleporting but only for a second and not after the third time she did it.
- Sorcery was at 08 APs until the end of Season 1.
- Twilight gained Superspeed for reading books and Teleportation increased to its current AP level in Season 2 episode 21 Dragon Quest.
- Energy Blast and Flash were only added after Season 2 Episodes 25 and 26 A Canterlot Wedding: Part 1 and 2 this was the first time she lifts another pony with her telekinesis.
- Hero points were 15 until the end of Season 2.
- Twilight’s INT score was a 05 until Season 3, Episode 1 The Crystal Empire Part 1.
- During Equestria Girls Twilight gained a Minor Irrational Attraction to Flash Sentry.
- Flash is centered on Twilight’s horn and is steady illumination only until Season 4 Episode 2 Princess Twilight Sparkle: Part 2 when she is shown making a star shaped flash as she flies through it.
- Twilight added the Mentor subskill in Season 4 Episode Twilight Time when she was shown helping Sweetie Bell learn to use her own magic.
- The Popularity advantage shows up in Season 4 and is attributed to her being a Princess.
- In Season 4: Episode 26 Twilight’s Kingdom: Part 2 Twilight absorbed all three of the other alicorn’s magic. All of her new powers had the Lack of Control limitation. With that much power she was around 20+ APs of Sorcery and Spirit when dealing out attacks and probably more when considering raising the sun and moon. In this episode her Tree-house home was destroyed but a Castle was magically raised in its place. Before this episode, Twilight had the Advantage: Headquarters Expansive: Tree-house.
- In Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks Twilight created her first artifact, a dimensional portal. So, Create Artifact was added to her skill set.

- Eyes: Violet Hair: Dark Blue with a streak of Pink and another of Purple.
- Other Distinguishing Feature: Coat is purple.
- Cutie Mark: A large red star with sparkles around it.
- Element of Harmony she represents: Magic.
Overview
Twilight Sparkle is a unicorn, the pupil of Princess Celestia until the end of Season 3. Twilight is a very studious and intelligent pony that sometimes has a hard time keeping information to herself. Twilight is definitely the friend’s leader and has the most powerful untapped raw magical power of any pony.
Twilight gained wings and became an alicorn in Season 3 Episode 13 Magical Mystery Cure. Directly after finishing Season 3 and flying well, Princess Twilight immediately entered a power subplot about her flight in the Season 4 opener and again in the film Equestria girls.
Twilight is not just a leader when it comes to her friends, Princess Celestia always entrusted her in completing very important quests, grooming her to be a Princess. The ponies of Ponyville had begun bringing their complaints to her by Season 3. During the Winter Wrap-up, Twilight was given the title of “All-team organizer”.
Twilight has a baby dragon named Spike who assists her and who is smitten with Rarity. Spike is her personal magical mail carrier. In episode 24 Owls well that ends well, Twilight gained a Jr. Assistant in the form of an owl named Owlowiscious.
Season 2 episode Dragon Quest also saw the addition of Peewee a baby Phoenix, Spike’s pet. However, Peewee isn’t seen again in the show which was a bit surprising.
Until the end of Season 3, at the end of each adventure Twilight and friends would write a letter to Princess Celestia to report their findings about their adventures and friendship. After Twilight became a Princess, the group kept a journal; continuing to write entries about friendship lessons learned.
The Elements of Harmony
Elements of Harmony [Body 08, (ML) Flight: 05, Neutralize: 18, and (ML) Petrification: 18, Enchantment: 05 (I’m assuming Twilight boosts her Spirit so she can use her Sorcery at a stronger AP level without fear of taking spiritual bashing damage.) Both Neutralize and Petrification are Permanent (+5 FC).]
It takes at least a full round to summon the power of the Elements and may be used but once, then its power must be summoned again for another use. Only one power may be used at time.
During Season 4: Episode 26 Twilight’s Kingdom: Part 2 the mysterious chest from the Tree of Harmony was unlocked. Each of the six ponies got “Rainbow-fide” increasing each of their individual powers and combining them with the power of the Elements of Harmony
This boosted by the tree itself was more than enough to defeat Tirek, who had just absorbed every pony’s magic and strength into himself.
The power of the Elements in this state becomes Flight: 05, Forcefield: 40, Neutralize: 40. The chest then flew to the spot of Twilight’s destroyed tree; a tree shaped crystal castle grew in its place.
Additional Notes
All ponies may carry or pull more weight than a humanoid with the same strength. Ponies have the benefit of doubling their strength when calculating what they can carry – Str +1 AP. This does not apply when a pony stands on her rear hooves and uses her front hooves to lift as if she were a biped.
Also, though they have hooves, ponies can open doors, grab pots and pans, or catch a friend from falling off a cliff by grabbing with their “hands”. The artists for the show do have the ponies use their tails or teeth most times trying to avoid the “hand hooves” whenever possible… still it does happen.
Your average pegasus has Air Control: 04, contingent on Flight. When all the pegasi get together, they number about one hundred; they can produce a tornado funnel equalling about 800 wingpower or 10 APs of Air control.
This is enough to suction water from a lake all the way to the pegasus city, Cloudsdale, where the moisture is used to produce rain and snow for the rest of the year.
Weight was hard to determine with no information online. I had to make a guess. I started at the height chart and imagine a pony next to me. I decided I could probably lift her but she’d feel somewhat heavy.
I thought it would probably be similar to lifting a large dog. A quick search and I find their weight between 70 and 130. I settled on 100 lbs. as an average.
History
Once upon a time, in the land of Equestria there were two sisters. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. These two Alicorn’s (winged unicorns) controlled the sun and moon respectively. Princess Luna became jealous of her sister because the ponies of Ponyville slept through her beautiful night but rejoiced over the day.
Luna took on the alter-ego of Nightmare Moon and attempted to force an eternal night over Ponyville. She successfully defeated Celestia but was stopped when Twilight Sparkle and her five friends brought together the elements of Harmony and defeated her, stripping her of her evil powers and freeing Celestia.
These six best friends remained faithful to each other in the years that followed, learning about friendship and having many amazing adventures in the process.
Equestria
Equestria is a magical world filled with sentient ponies. It is a fantasy world with a somewhat static technology level similar to Earth’s medieval period; however it does incorporate many technologies of today like a DJ’s turntable or a laser light show.
There are castles, wizards, dragons, unicorns, and plenty of other mythological inhabitants of the realm. Think Dungeons & Dragons with ponies instead of people. A few ponies are good gadgeteers and have come up with ingenious devices like the Flim Flam brothers but your average pony relies on magic much more than technology.
The oldest time before Equestria as we know it came from one of Twilight Sparkle’s books: the Paleopony period. Likely, the pony stone age.
The next recorded history of Equestria was of an undetermined year a long time ago when there were three separate tribes of ponies: the Earth ponies, the unicorns, and the pegasi. They were enemies.
The unicorns and pegasi demanded tribute of the poorer earth ponies who gave tribute in the form of vegetables. When a harsh winter came no food would grow and each tribe complained it was the other’s fault.
When each of them could take no more, their leaders set out to find new homes for their tribes. Each succeeded when they found meadows of lush green and clear skies. However, they realized that each of the tribe leaders had settled in the same area and so, the fighting began anew.
The winter storm, as if by magic, followed them to this new land. Only when the three tribes could learn to live in harmony could they defeat the Wendigo spirits causing the winter storm. These pony tribes were the ancient ancestors of Equestria as we know it today.
Granny Smith recounted a tale of how her family was the first ponies in the area now known as Ponyville, being granted the land by Princess Celestia. The Apple family planted magical zap-apple trees which sprung up overnight and because of these magical apples the money flowed into the area and Ponyville flourished.
The magic of friendship
In Equestria, ponies celebrate many Holidays that are very similar to our own. For instance “Nightmare night” is Halloween. ”Hearth’s warming eve” is Christmas Eve. ”Hearts and Hooves Day” is Saint Valentine’s Day. Arbor Day was also mentioned by Spike. And according to Pinkie Pie, National Random Holiday Party Day is also a holiday.
Hierarchy of Equestria is pretty simple. The highest level of authority is the Princesses; they are taller and generally more serious than their smaller subjects, almost like adults while the ponies act as children.
Although alicorns have a very long lifespan, living thousands of years and are possibly immortal, everyday ponies live and die at about the same age as humans.
Economy in Ponyville is a mystery. The ponies buy items with gold coins (bits) or jewels. There are rich ponies and poor ponies alike. Many ponies have jobs but how much they are paid is unknown.
Sweet Apple Acre’s farm is always in jeopardy of foreclosure. It’s probably safe to assume they would have wealth scores on par with humans in similar positions in our world.
Ponies
There are three types of ponies residing in Equestria; there are earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns with the males being a little larger than the females. There seems to be an even ratio of each type with a disproportionately high number of fillies.
Ponies often make a squeaky toy sound when they smile. They stamp their feet when applauding. The general pony of Equestria is happy and friendly, superstitious, impressionable and easily frightened.

Ponies are not the only animals in Equestria intelligent enough to understand language, actually there are quite a lot, and some like cattle, sheep, and buffalo can even speak.
Earth Ponies – Earth ponies are your standard pony looking much like a real pony though smaller and thinner. Most take on the blue-collar jobs of farmers and more “earthy” things. They are known for their physical strength and hardiness.
Earth Ponies participate in the annual “running of the leaves”, an earth pony race along a road near many trees. It’s practically a stampede causing the leaves to fall and autumn to begin.
There’s also the “winter wrap-up” an annual cleanup of winter to make way for spring. Since Ponyville was founded by Earth ponies magic is traditionally not used during the winter wrap-up.
Unicorns – Their horns provide ponies with magic. This magic is normally very specific to the ponies’ greatest talents. Princesses like Twilight Sparkle have a much broader range of “tricks” they can perform with their magic even before she became an alicorn.
All unicorns share a common power, Telekinesis. All have varying strength levels but few are stronger than the pony herself. Very young unicorns may not have the power at all producing only a few sparks when they try.
Pegasi – All ponies have a hand in changing the seasons but the Pegasi are stewards of the weather. Pegasi have a compliment of powers in common. They can purify the air simply by continuously flapping their wings in the polluted area. All pegasi are capable of walking on clouds and moving them around, causing rain, or otherwise changing the weather.
Pegasi may work together to produce great tornados. These tornadoes are annually used to lift water from lakes all the way to Cloudsdale where it is re-distributed as rainwater or snow. The tornadoes’ strength is measured in units of “wing-power”; it takes 800 wing power (10 APs) to get the water to Cloudsdale. The average male pegasus pony would be around 8-10 wingpower but Rainbow Dash achieved an incredible 16.5. Each winter the Pegasi lead the birds back north.
Alicorns – The alicorns are unique in that they have both the horn of a unicorn and the wings of a pegasus. There are very few in all of Equestria. The Princesses are powerful mystical entities.
Princess Celestia controls both the rising of the sun and moon. Nearby Canterlot is where she resides over her kingdom. Her soldiers are chiefly golden armored pegasi and unicorns. Before Princess Luna’s banishment there was no need for the Earth, unicorn, pegasi or E.U.P. guard.
Since Canterlot resides precariously on the side of a high mountain they use pegasus drawn chariots and hot air balloons for travel. Once per year, Princess Celestia holds the Grand Galloping Gala at her castle. It is a coveted invitation only event.
Her sister, Princess Luna (aka Nightmare Moon) has her own armored pegasi guards however; her guards are jet black with bat wings instead of feathered. Since Luna was imprisoned in the moon for a thousand years she had trouble fitting in with other ponies and speaks in an old English dialect.
The Princess, though her power is suppressed by the Elements of Harmony, is still quite powerful. She has strong magic and can control the weather on a large scale for dramatic effect. Luna also enters sleeping pony’s dreams; she can act in them, but rarely interferes.
Princess Cadence oversees the Crystal Empire where the Equestria games are held. She married Twilight’s big brother, Shining Armor.
Princess Twilight Sparkle is the newest alicorn. She is no longer a pupil under Princess Celestia’s watch. When Princess Celestia and Luna are gone it’s Twilight who steps up to lead and run the kingdom. All princesses are royalty and become famous all over Equestria.
Places of Interest
The Everfree Forest is a nearby dark and dangerous forest. The creatures there care for themselves and the clouds move… all on their own! (gasp) In it are mythical creatures like manticores, sea-serpents and cockatrices. It’s more of a jungle and is home to the dreaded Ursa Major, a gigantic bear. A friendly but mysterious zebra named Zecora is an apothecary who lives within this foreboding place.
One area of the Everfree Forest is a swampy area called Froggy-bottom-bog; a hydra lives there. The Everfree forest is also home to the Tree of Harmony. As long as the tree holds the elements of Harmony the Everfree forest cannot be invaded by “tainted” or evil plantlife.
When Twilight and her friends returned the elements to the tree it presented them with a mysterious chest with six key holes. A ruined castle stands in the forest overgrown and desolate. The Castle of the Two Sisters, in it Twilight and friends found a wonderful and intact library.
Clouds-dale, a rainbowy-castle in the sky is the pegasi home. The pegasus ponies live here having the ability to fly and walk on clouds. There is a weather factory where clouds, rainbows, and snowflakes are made. This is also home to the Wonder Bolts, a group of pegasi known for their aerial acrobatics similar to the Blue Angels. Wonderbolts Academy is a boot camp for pegasi.
The Arctic North and The Crystal Empire – The Empire contains a powerful magic. One thousand years ago, King Sombra, a unicorn whose heart was black as night, took over the Crystal Empire enslaving the ponies who lived there. He was ultimately overthrown, turned to shadow, and banished to the ice of the arctic north. Still, he cursed the empire causing it to vanish into thin air.
Twilight and friends helped Princess Cadence return the Crystal Empire to its former glory. The Empire was filled with hope and love those things are reflected across all of Equestria. With the Crystal Heart in place, all the ponies took on a crystalline appearance. The Arora Borealis originates from the Crystal Palace and can be seen all the way from Ponyville.
Equestria has some aspects of Greek mythology. Twilight mentioned Tartarus – A prison for ancient evil creatures. Cerberus, the three headed dog the guardian of that place, arrived in Ponyville but was quelled by Fluttershy. In Season 4 Episode 25 Twilight’s Kingdom: Part 1 we learn Lord Tirek, an evil mystic entity, had escaped while Cerberus was away.
Trains run all over Equestria and a pony could get just about anywhere she wants by riding one.

Magic in Equestria
Magic in the land of Equestria is diverse and powerful. Unicorns and alicorns wield most of the magic but the land itself is imbued with power too. There are magical beings and creatures as well as potion makers and sages.
There is a very strong presence of good versus evil going on. Periodically the subdued evil powers will again gain a foothold and push back the powers of good only to be thwarted.
Young unicorns are presented before a panel to show what they’ve learned about using their own magic. Those ponies that show an aptitude for it are taken as pupils at Canterlot but most will never become powerful spell casters.
Spellbooks are gathered together in libraries. Ponies with access to these can progress to new and different spells but it takes practice.
Season 3 episode 5 Magic Duel. Twilight states age spells are only for the highest level unicorns, since in MEGS, aging/youth powers aren’t too expensive I can only assume that in the MLP universe they are. Again in Season 4 episode 21 Leap of Faith Apple Jack states that in all of Equestria she doesn’t know of any magic that can make a pony young again.
The Elements of Harmony
The six Elements of Harmony were taken from the Tree of Harmony by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna long ago. The elements today are “kindness” represented by Fluttershy, “laughter” represented by Pinkie Pie, “generosity” by Rarity, “honesty” by Apple Jack, and “loyalty” Rainbow Dash.
The sixth element in the heart of us all through friendship is “Magic” represented by Twilight Sparkle. Each of these six ponies received an Element in the form of a necklace with their cutie mark for the gem, Twilight being the exception as she got a tiara.
The Elements were originally tied to Celestia and her sister Luna but they are no longer connected to them. We learned in Season 2 that any spells originally cast by Celestia and Luna with the aid of the Elements had lost some of their strength. Twilight and her friends had to wield the elements in their own right! These six friends now control that power.
The Elements of Harmony are very powerful but fickle. If one of the six ponies is missing or somehow not in accord with the element they represent; there will be no power. All six elements will be inert.
When brought together the six Elements of Harmony can vanquish most any foe. Well, not exactly, what they do is nullify any evil power possessed by the target of their attack. If the target, as in Discord’s case, is evil itself the Elements will turn them to stone.
In Nightmare Moon’s case, she was simply humbled by the loss of her powers and now endeavors only to do and be good. Lastly, the Elements can boost a spell caster’s own magic.
The neutralizing or petrification effect is quite permanent, as long as the Elements stay intact and connected to the ponies that used them to do the effect.
The Elements are activated by each of these six ponies boldly standing together through their power of friendship and friendship is magic.
Cutie Marks
A cutie mark is a magical mark that appears on a ponies flank when he or she finds that certain something that makes them different from every other pony. Most ponies gain their cutie mark in their younger years. A cutie mark displays a certain portion of a pony’s personality or special talent they have.
A cutie mark can’t be forced to appear even by magic, however, when Rarity gained her cutie mark strange things occurred and she remarked “Pony magic happens for a reason”.
Much to their chagrin a young pony still without her cutie mark is called a “blank”. Three young students, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle; all still blanks, formed a group intent on getting their cutie-marks – whatever it takes! They are The Cutie Mark Crusaders!
All of Twilight’s friends earned their cutie marks on the same day and at the same time as a result at least in part to Rainbow Dash’s first ever Sonic Rainboom! Cutie Marks are a pony’s mark of destiny. It’s who they are!
In Season 3 episode 13 Magical Mystery Cure all the ponies, except Twilight, had their cutie marks switched with another pony. This caused them to switch jobs. Rarity got Rainbow Dash’s cutie mark and controlled the weather with her horn. Rainbow got Fluttershy’s cutie mark and tried to calm the animals at Fluttershy’s cottage. Flutter Shy had Pinkie Pie’s cutie mark and was trying her hand at stand-up. Pinkie was at Apple acres (looking like she did at the rock farm) struggling at Apple Jack’s job. Apple-Jack had Rarity’s job of seamstress.
All were ill-equipped to do the others job but still they stated. ”It must be my destiny, ’Cause that’s what my cutie mark is telling me.” So, ponies will obey their cutie mark even when they don’t like it.
Equestria Girls (between Season 3 and 4)
Twilight Sparkle, now a Princess, journeyed to Crystal Empire with her friends. Her crown was stolen by Sunset Shimmer, a rebellious student of Princess Celestia who left Equestria through a magic mirror to another world.
The stolen crown has Twilight’s element of harmony as its center piece, one of Equestria’s most important means of defense. In this new world ponies took on human form; teenagers in CHS (Canterlot High School) to be exact.
The gateway back to Equestria would only open once every thirty moons. Twilight crossed over through the mirror followed by Spike. Twilight took on the body of a teenage girl while Spike became a dog.
Sunset bullied the other students of this realm. None of Twilight’s friends followed her through the dimensional portal yet she encountered human counterparts of each one and befriended them.
wilight’s stolen crown was in the hands of Principle Celestia. Twilight’s best chance to get her crown back was to win it and the title of Princess of the Fall Formal. This would not be an easy task as Sunset Shimmer had been the winner three years running. Twilight had to get a majority of votes from her new peers.
Realizing she knew nothing about the new world, Twilight went to the school library and researched all she could about it. However, Snips and Snails were there recording her every faux pas to be used against her later. A yearbook became her best resource.
School spirit
Twilight brought her new friends together by revealing to them that Sunset Shimmer was behind their own friendship problems. She went on to tell them all the truth about who and what she was. Without her crown, Twilight couldn’t go back home.
Her new friends accepted her and pulled together to support her. The school was split into cliques with each girl represented in them. Each girl sang their supported for Twilight Sparkle while wearing pony ears and a tail made by Rarity.
Twilight won the title Princess of the Fall Formal but Sunset Shimmer wasn’t done yet. She threatened to smash the portal to Equestria if Twilight didn’t hand over the crown. Twilight stoically refused.
Sunset was bluffing and had no intention of destroying the portal back to her homeworld. A scuffle ensued with Sunset coming out on top. With the crown on her head she was magically transformed into a flying demoness with the full power of Twilight’s element of harmony.
Sunset Shimmer took control of all the other students to use as an army. When she tried to do away with Twilight and her friends the element of Harmony recognized characteristics of Twilight’s new friends as that of identical nature as Equestria’s. They were protected from its magic.
Sunset may’ve had the crown on her head but she couldn’t wield it because she did not possess the most powerful magic of all: Friendship!
Twilight’s Element of Harmony reversed all Sunset had done and stripped her of her power. Totally humbled, Sunset cried and repented of what she’d done. The friends took her in and promised to teach her about friendship. Twilight went home to Equestria but she would never forget her new found human friends at Canterlot High.
Rainbow Rocks (occurs after Season 4)
My little pony Equestria girls: Rainbow Rocks picks up at the end of Equestria girls. Three Sirens banished to the human world happened to be nearby when Twilight and her new friends used the power of friendship to defeated Sunset Shimmer. Their leader recognized the Equestrian magic and hatched a plan to steal it.
Sometime later, Sunset Shimmer was having a hard time adjusting to making friends instead of being the bully. Pinkie Pie and friends made sure they were there to help.
When the girls began singing and playing instruments the Equestrian magic proved to still be in their world and they again transformed; sprouting pony ears, wings and a pony’s tails. It would vanish again as soon as they quit playing.
The three banished sirens, Sonata Dusk, Adagio Dazzle, and Aria Blaze, calling their band the Dazzlings, arrived at CHS and it was Sunset Shimmer who showed them around. The trio wore magical pendants, with them they were able to feed off negative energy.
It’s not much but gives them a little magical power to influence others. Their song promoted competition between the students. Everyone was affected except the five friends along with Sunset Shimmer. A battle of the bands was suggested.
What’s wrong with a little competition?
The friends went to Principle Celestia and Vice President Luna and warned them about the girls. However, Celestia and Luna were already affected by the trio’s singing and were in full support of a battle of the bands.
Pinkie Pie and Apple Jack surmised that they were somehow protected from the sirens power. They needed to get a message to Twilight Sparkle but the portal was closed. Sunset Shimmer had an idea. She had kept a book from Equestria, whatever she wrote there would be sent as a message to Princess Celestia similar to the messages Twilight wrote.
On the pony side of the portal, the message worked and Twilight received it. After some quick research, Twilight was sure the three new students were in fact the three Sirens. Magical beings that can absorb negative energy to power their voices and charm anyone who heard it.
Star Swirl the bearded banished them to another world where he believed their magic power would be lost. Since the connection to the human world was proven, Twilight used the book to open the mirror permanently. She and Spike passed through once again.
When the girls confronted the Sirens things did not go as planned. Twilight drew power from the crown when she defeated Sunset Shimmer but now she couldn’t do that. Twilight and her friends stood boldly as usual but no power came. They only looked foolish and were mocked by the Sirens and their songs. As the girls talked later they wondered if they could draw power from their own music since that’s when they transformed.
Battle, battle, battle of the bands!
During a slumber party at Pinkie Pie’s house Twilight attempted to write a song that would act as a counterspell. Twilight had atrocious hand-writing skills having never held a pen in her hands before.
The day of the competition, Twilight and the Rainbooms, her new friend’s band, were still practicing their counter-spell song. Realizing they were running out of time, Rainbow Dash decided to go on to compete as originally planned and when they get to the finals they would sing the counter-spell. That would allow Twilight more time to complete her spell.
The bands battled but because of the influence of the Siren’s charm the winners were already decided. The finals pitted the Dazzlings vs the Rainbooms but even that wouldn’t come to be. The Sirens convinced Trixie and her band to sabotage the Rainbooms and take their place in the competition.
Trixie did just that, dropping the Rainbooms below the stage where they would be locked inside throughout the performance. Despair began to set in and each of the girls blamed the other, their negative energy floated up and the Sirens absorbed it growing stronger.
Sunset Shimmer was the only one who realized what was happening. Sunset and the others quickly settled their differences just in time to be rescued by Spike and the only other person unaffected by the sirens, D.J. Pon3, who never takes her headphones off.
The Rainbooms stood on one side of the crowd while the Dazzlings were on the other. The magic flowed through the Rainbooms music and was a good match for the Siren’s magic. However, the Sirens were winning…until Sunset Shimmer stepped in and joined her voice with Twilight’s.
The magic of friendship crushed the Siren’s and their magical pendants broke apart leaving them powerless.
Sunset kept in touch, writing Twilight through her magic book.
DC Universe History
A few options come to mind in a supers campaign. Especially if a GM wants to go the mystical route. Let the heroes journey to Ponyville in search of some item or knowledge that is key to their own adventure. The heroes would seem as monsters to the general ponyville denizen, running away in over-dramatic fear with Pinkie Pie leading the egress!
The only time the ponies came to the human world was during the films, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and MLP: Equestria girls: Rainbow Rocks. The ponies, upon arrival, found they had transformed into human form. I suppose in your own game the heroes could be quite surprised if they found themselves in pony forms on the other side.
Princess Luna is active in the Dream dimension and could be encountered there.
Lastly, you could simply roleplay them as teenage girls using the stats as they are, ignoring anything particularly pony about them.
