Context

This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.

Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.

This specific character was part of a RPG campaign run by writeups.org contributor Bil.

Powers and Abilities

As a mildly enhanced member of the alien, feline race called the Aldoram, he has numerous enhanced, catlike powers. In addition to enhanced senses, he has a finely tuned danger sense, and the ability to generate a field of darkness. He is a skilled combatant, and wields a pair of clawed gloves in battle.

His government does not know what his powers stem from. The truth is that he made a pact with an extra-dimensional  entity, that may or not be a demon, as an adolescent.

History

The Aldoram are a semi-feline race. They are enemies of the Qarth race, the hideous aliens who provided C.A.D.R.E. with their cybernetic technology. Nightcat, whose real name is an unpronounceable series of growls and snarls, is an advance scout, to determine if the inhabitants of Earth are both powerful and honorable enough for the Aldoram to ally with.

He has decided to act as a hero, for the sake of getting to know the heroes of Earth as much as possible. He sees them as far more valuable allies than the militaries of the world.

Unfortunately, he did not learn the details of the legal snarl surrounding metahuman heroes until recently. Therefore, he is trying desperately to get rid of the bad reputation he has earned.

Personality

Rather callous, he is not above using lethal force if it appears there is no way around a given situation. This is what has led to his bad reputation among Earth’s heroes and law-enforcement agencies.

He has done his best in recent days to recant his earlier, bloodthirsty ways. But he still has moments where his hands twitch to end the life of some hardened, malicious criminal.

DC Universe History

The Aldoram would be best treated if they and the Qarth come from some totally opposite corner of the galaxy than the Dominion, et al.

Nightcat’s role, position, and reputation could be thus unchanged.
