Omni is a minor character in the Backlash comic book, in the Wildstorm Universe. He appeared in 1996/1997.
Like with most of our Classic Wildstorm material, these notes were taken during the late 1990s — back when these books were selling like hotcakes — and not revisited since.

Powers and Abilities
Omni’s powers come from genetic manipulations done by aliens. They manifest as a telekinetic field. It gives him:
- Incredible physical power.
- An instinctive protective field making him invulnerable.
- The ability to fly.
His current physique is thought to stem from his subconscious. He always suffered from looking overweight, and craved looking like a body building champ.
History
Quentin Taylor was an overweight rapper and artist. He still lived at his mother’s, who still had a big influence on him. One night, after a fight with his mother, he mysteriously disappeared from his bedroom. His abduction coincided with a series of anomalous readings picked by department PSI.
He returned two weeks later, genetically altered, with a strange marking on his back. With the help of Backlash and Taboo, PSI managed to coerce the confused teen into admitting himself for tests. The main argument Backlash used resulted from their confrontation, where Omni nearly killed his friend, and scared the hell out of his mother.
He followed Backlash’s training at PSI, where they discover the nature of his powers. Later, he was in the first wave assault against the resurrected D’rhan in the sunken city of Atlantis.

Description
Omni is a tall, big and very muscular Black lad. He has short black hair and a small beard. His eyes glow green when he pushes his powers.
Personality
Omni is reluctant to follow PSI’s tests and training. All his life has he been told what to do for his own good. Now, with these powers, he expected to take charge of his life. But he admitted he has no real control over them, and may endanger people.
When in the middle of a fight, he is fairly overconfident in his invulnerability, doing some dumb actions that could easily kill his teammates.
