Orbitrons
Context
During the 1970s, confectioner and cakes maker Hostess advertised in major comic books. The advertisements were full-page comics starring Marvel and DC Comics characters (and Hostess products).
These comics were nonsensical and a parody of the most absurd aspects of Silver Age comics. They’re still fondly remembered for their goofiness.
Powers and Abilities
They fly through space, plundering gold from various planets. They do so by using their magnetism to get what they want directly, or by using their powers to kidnap people that are ransomed for gold.
History
They appeared in “Superman meets the Orbitrons !” which appeared in GL/GA#117.

Some people in space complain to Superman that the Orbitrons have stolen their gold and kidnapped their scientists and engineers.
Superman flies off (in a cute little spaceship) to the Orbitrons, who detect the gold that he has brought with him. This gold turns out to be Twinkies, which he gives to the Orbitrons. The Orbitrons decide that they will release their hostages as long as Superman agrees to deliver Twinkies to them on a regular basis.
Description
They are golden spheres, with two eyes and one large Pacman-like mouth. There are at least eight of them.
