Paragon
(Jeremy Caswell)
Context
This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.
Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.

Powers and Abilities
Paragon’s body has been purified of all weakness and brought to it’s maximum potential. This gives him:
- Phenomenal physical strength.
- The ability to run and leap with phenomenal ability.
- The ability of being virtually indestructible by any physical force.
In addition he possesses the power to control the four alchemical elements. He usually relates to them in a rather Superman-esque fashion, such as:
- Punching the ground to create a shockwave.
- Creating waterspouts by flying around in a tight circle.
- Creating blasts of air by using “super breath”.
History
Jeremy Caswell inherited a substantial fortune at the age of 19. Almost immediately, he found himself forced to fend off constant importunations by those looking for charitable contributions or investors, a few of whom were even legitimate.
One of the earliest proposals seemed particularly appealing. One Doctor Von Hohenheim’s pitched a medical research project which offered everything a snake oil salesman might have offered and more. Nothing less than physical perfection was the goal. For Caswell, a glasses-wearing asthmatic with acne, that sounded like the answer to his dreams.
Seven years and near a hundred million dollars later, Caswell began to suspect that he was being taken advantage of. He learned that Von Hohenheim wasn’t a doctor, and that his name wasn’t even Von Hohenheim.

Alchemy
Theophrastus Von Hohenheim had been the name of one of one of most famous alchemists in history. Apparently Caswell’s money had been spent on accumulating an impressive library of alchemical texts and trying to put their contents into use.
Having just been informed that several of his favourite charities were in fact scams, and one of them was a financial front for a terrorist organisation, this information was enough to send Caswell into a rage. He charged off to confront “Von Hohenheim”.
What happened next is unclear. According to Caswell, “Von Hohenheim” tried to use a “philosopher’s stone” powered weapon to kill him and it overloaded. According to the alchemist, Caswell insisted on seeing a demonstration of his prototype for a “healing ray” and then tampered with the controls, causing it to overload.
Transmogrified
In any case the result was a super-powered Caswell, a destroyed philosophers stone, and an alchemist who swore vengeance on his former patron. He took the name “Doctor Prometheus” to play supervillain to Caswell’s superhero.
Become a superhero he did, naming himself “Paragon”, since the philosopher’s stone had removed all imperfections from him. He dedicated himself to becoming as perfect a hero as he was a physical specimen.
For a while he tried to maintain a secret identity, but quickly discovered that a pair of glasses was not a perfect disguise. He abandoned the half-hearted attempt because he felt it was making him look silly.
