Patriot
(Steve Trevor)
Context
This obscure bit was done as a quick throwaway profile. Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s romantic interest, briefly was the Patriot in 1968. Back then WW stories were remarkably goofy. However, the “karate mod era” reinvention would take place months later.
Which is why we have a Patriot profile, incidentally. I had broken the books out of storage for this specific Wonder Woman profile.
We have a much more extensive and researched character profile for Steve Trevor. However, it is the post-Crisis, George Pérez version.

Powers and Abilities
The pills granted Steve Trevor an unclear level of super-strength, super-speed, super-invulnerability, flight and, hmmm, that’s it.
It was supposed to make him JLA-class, and it is indeed possible that he was that powerful. Our game stats are reasonable (not minimal, either) levels for the powers he demonstrated.
History
Early in 1968, the dastardly Angle Man hatched a nefarious, sinister scheme ! He would turn Wonder Woman powerless and give powers to Steve Trevor. This would make the Amazon Princess useless at crimefighting, leading her to marry her now super man ! By golly, what a clever plan !
Stealing a device from military intelligence that could somehow nullify WW’s power, he had one of his men posing as a photographer zap her. The Angle Man then mailed pills giving super powers to Steve Trevor. If you’re wondering why he had pills giving super-powers lying around, and why he used them to do… that, then you’re reading the wrong writeup.
After having them analysed, Trevor determined there were safe. They would empower him as long as his small supply held.
The coming of the Patriot !
The depowered WW tried to fight crime with very little success. She was once easily beaten by, well… about six hippies… But Trevor, wearing a costume and calling himself the Patriot, intervened and easily beat the hippies up.

As Diana reflected upon how good it was to feel protected by her man, Trevor asked her to retire from heroing since she was now damn useless. He beseeched her to become his stay-at-home wife while he was doing the costume thing.
Yes, he knew the pills would run out. Look, don’t tell me you’re reading this and you’re the only person who never realised Trevor was a jerk of Gojira-like proportions.
The going of the Patriot !
As the Angle Man was cackling maniacally or something, Trevor shared his last few pills with WW. Together, they stormed the Angle Man’s hideout, easily taking him and his thugs out. How did they find his hideout, you say ? Look, I don’t write ’em, OK ?
Then Trevor destroyed the film of the trick camera, which was apparently storing Diana’s power. This restored her to her full wonder power. Why did he change his mind, you ask ? Sigh…
Diana told Trevor to keep a few of the remaining pills, though, in case the Patriot was ever needed again. I don’t think he ever was. But what I know is that some of you perverts are already wondering what would happen if those pills resurfaced.
Description
See illustrations.
Personality
Not much. I mean, it’s Trevor. He does bad late-1960s “hip” repartee, and is generally a square-jawed goody-two-shoes obsessed with marrying WW. Except when he somehow isn’t).
He calls Diana “Angel” about three times per page.
Quotes
“Fun and games are over ! Now let the Patriot show you a swinging time !”
“Angel, as the Patriot I can do all the super things you used to do ! So marry me !”
“Wrong again, Angle Man ! The photocamera used to drain Wonder Woman’s powers was stolen from military intelligence ! And it’s in your possession ! Explain that to the police !”
