DV8 (pronounced “deviants”) was a 1995 Image Comics series about edgy super-powered kids. Self-centred and self-indulgent, their lives are controlled by a murderous intelligence conspiracy managed by one Ivana Baiul.

Though the book’s sales made returns of the characters difficult to obtain, the existing fan base seems to have been quite dedicated.

Powers and Abilities

Powerhaus is a Gen-Active  of the second generation. His powers come from a synthetic version of the Gen-Factor that Ivana designed.

Hector has the ability of turning ambient emotions in energy and mass. This way, he gains enough strength to bring down a building. By the end of his training in I.O., he was even able to use his own emotions to fuel his power.

The details of the way Hector ended in the Project: Genesis remain untold. Anyway, he was there, like Gen 13 did shortly after.

When his powers manifested in the gym, he was trying to use weight lifting machines for the first time. The transformation took him by surprise and he passed out. He was transferred to a cryogenic tube by I.O.’s medics acting under Ivana Baiul’s orders.

When Gen 13 went AWOL, Ivana activated the remaining Gen-Active teens to create the DV8 team. Hector tagged along, having no one else to stick with, and out of fear of Ivana’s reprisal. He experienced many periods of doubts and low confidence, drowning them in a bottle.

Eventually, with the help of Grifter, he managed to hack in I-Core, I.O.’s central computer. Morales found out that I.O. was having a cloning program, and himself was a clone. This didn’t do any good for self confidence.

He died during the SlipStream crossover.

Powerhaus is a Latino youth of average size and weight. He has a small beard and mustache and wears an earring on the left ear.

When his power is fully activated, he looks like a 8 feet tall wall of muscle.

Hector is the nicest and quietest of the team. He would just like to make friends, and thought that Ivana’s money would help. It didn’t.

He cares a lot for Copycat, as she the youngest and weakest of the team.

“I’m in… I dunno what I’m in. Feels more like a gang than anything else. A gang full of people who hate each other.”

DC Universe History

Well basically they’re a bunch of freaks, thugs and psychopaths (sorry, anti-heroes) so I suppose they’d be dandy as the new group from Mento, after he lost control of the Hybrid. That would make them foes of the Titans, which is quite fitting IMHO.
