Pumpkin Man

Context

This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.

Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.

This specific entry is a weird little thing that ended up beached on the community space one day.

Background

Powers and Abilities

Pumpkin Man has the ability to fire focused beams of light from his eyes.

He did not possess this ability until putting on the Aquaman suit, but does seem to keep it whenever he takes the costume off.

History

Dick Duff was spending a three day weekend in Ocean City, Maryland. This is when he ran across one of Aquaman’s classic green-and-orange costumes, washed up on the beach.

He tried it on (questionable practice, considering the nature of many other things that wash up on the beach). He was observed by some passing teenagers, who shouted out “look at that dumbass pumpkin man.”

The taunting seemed to activate Duff’s latent superhuman abilities. He fried the little bastards on the spot. He dubbed himself “Pumpkin Man” and set off in search of some way to make some cash off of his new costume and powers.

Duff failed to make money from his find. But he did collect, in the following two years, a following of homeless people, who all worship him as their deity. He can’t figure out why, and keeps telling them to go away, but it doesn’t seem to work.

Description

He’s a fat guy wearing the classic Aquaman costume. It doesn’t fit very well.
