Powers and Abilities

The Queen is a cruel tyrant, but also has been trained to be a somewhat competent knightress. In battle, she puts more trust in her heavy equipment than in her skills.

History

Chaldonor is a city-state in an unspecified dimension . It seems to be roughly at an early Renaissance level of culture, with late medieval technology. Chaldonor fields a fleet of flying ships, but how those soar is unclear.

Chaldonor is also a cruel, decadent power with considerable military might. It freely helps itself to the wealth and denizens of neighbouring realms. Its flying ships, especially, are often sent out as corsairs. They get tasked with bringing back interesting captives and loot. The captives are not solely intended for slave labour – the Queen loves gladiatorial games.

Will wonders never cease

The fall of Chaldonor came when two such prisoners, Diana and Ranagor, were brought before her. Nobody realized the identity of either captives. Ranagor was a prince of the most powerful of Chaldonor’s neighbours, North Ambria. Diana was a depowered Wonder Woman, who was stranded there after a dimensional storm disrupted her travels.

Brought in chains before the Queen, Diana rebelled and battered the guards aside. She was about to reach the Queen when a sucker blow from one of the Queen’s dwarf servants took her down. The Queen had her thrown into a cell with Ranagor, then had the pair fight a gnarth in the arena.

The heroes prevailed, manhandled the Queen a bit, then escaped to join with the forces of North Ambria. These soldiers were coming to free Ranagor.

Assault on Castle Skull

The ensuing war between Chaldonor and North Ambria would have been somewhat one-sided had Diana not been there. She had the Ambrians build black powder cannons. Such weapons could breach Castle Skull and even shoot down the flying ships, evening the odds.

The Queen of Chaldonor running gladiatorial games

To the psychotic Queen’s glee, the battle for Castle Skull raged on with terrible losses on both side. Eventually, Diana had a challenge sent for the Queen and her champion to face her and Ranagor in a duel. Although the Queen and her best warrior attacked fiercely, they were defeated and Ranagor killed the champion.

The Queen then fled to the safety of Castle Skull, but this demoralised the defenders.

Castle Skull fell, and the Queen surrendered once the last captain of the guard was defeated. She was condemned by North Ambrian justice to leave Chaldonor with just the clothes on her back.

Given the constant pillaging by the Queen’s forces in the neighbouring areas, this was probably meant as a death sentence once somebody would recognise her. But what actually happened remains unrevealed.

Description

See illustrations.

Personality

The Queen is evil and bored. She enjoys the spectacle of violence and doesn’t mind being a part of it, as long as she feels she’s on top of things and is wearing heavy armour.

While she enjoys death and bloodshed, she’s not really a sadist. She comes across more as a bored person with very little empathy toward non-royalty, who passes the time with the equivalent of video games.

She’s a bully. Thus, her haughty confidence will evaporate as soon as things go sour for her.

Quotes

““What ? Is this the best your hunter ships could do ? A barbarian and a girl ?”

“Now for the game ! Release the gnarth !”

“No mercy ! Kill them at all costs ! I want their heads brought to me immediately !”

“The fools ! They’ll never take my castle ! But… many will die trying !”
